Story
I AM SPONSORED! Thank you Scarlett and Landon for sponsoring me! Freckles is a 2 - 3 yr old male Great Pyrenees mix. He has a high energy level, so he would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called for snuggles and kisses. Freckles does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! He is food motivated, but does not yet know any commands. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is intensely interested in cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. For more information about this dog or any others at our Shelter, please visit www.joplinhumane.org. We are the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri. 417-623-3642.

Story
Tiny's estimated DOB is 08/16/2020 and he's a brindle Great Pyrenees. Poor Tiny (AKA Timmy) came to us after his parents' home burned down and they had no place for him to go. But despite this tough time in his life, he remains a fun, loving boy who just wants to be the center of attention. He was recently with a wonderful foster who discovered that he is a pretty great dog to have around the house! He is house trained, doesn't chew on anything, and wasn't even scared around the vacuum! The foster had two other dogs who he was incredible around. On top of having zero food aggression while being fed next to them, when one of the older dogs got snippy and snarly around him he was respectful and gave him space, avoiding any scuffles or fights. Tiny is an incredibly smart dog - he even learned how to use a doggy door within minutes of being in the house! He is also an extremely loving dog. He attaches himself to people quickly and loves a good nighttime cuddle on the couch as well as sleeping by his persons side. He also thinks he is a lap dog (even though he is a little too big to fit!) so he needs reminders to keep all four paws on the floor when getting love. He has great leash manners and loves to play fetch. Tiny is extremely athletic, and does need some training so he can learn to harness that energy into productive playing rather than zoomies around the house! He would do best with a family who is active outdoors or a home with lots of land for Tiny to play on.Tiny does get along with cats. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. For more information, please email us at havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647....All pets have lifetime sanctuary at Haven of the Ozarks. Story
Thanks to @Petfinder Foundation, we are able to adopt Magnum with no adoption fee (with approved application). Where to begin….. Magnum is a big fluffy teddy bear around 2 years old. He’s handsome and showy. I just love watching him strut his stuff in the play yard. Magnum is very smart. You can watch him figuring thigs out, thinking things through. He enjoys opening gate latches to let his shelter mates out to party with him. Something easily remedied, much to Magnum’s disappointment, with a simple clip on the latch. He loves attention and gets along with dogs, cats and people. Unfortunately, even though Magnum is a guardian breed, he was involved in a terrible incident with a chicken at his first adopter’s farm. We don’t have all the deets, we just know he had to return to the shelter. Therefore, we can not recommend him as a farm guardian. He loves hugs, booty scratches, and to lay his head in your lap & give you the puppy dawg eyes. Magnum is crate trained and housebroken. He can be strong willed and wants to do things his way, Therefore, he will need an experienced adopter to work with him and be his pack leader. Schedule a time to visit Magnum….he is an amazing dog.

Story
Luca is a lovely boy, he loves peoples but he doesn’t like big tight hugs. Due to his size he need a big space to run and need a person who can spend a lot of time with him, I would prefer someone who has experience with big dog because of his size he is very strong. He is 2 years old , he was born in 2022 January. looking for a someone who has big yard and can spend time with him. He never with other dogs so I don’t know how well his behavior with other dogs yet. Never been with cats either. I don’t have little kids at home but he got along well with my 12 year old step daughter.
