Good with kids, Good with dogs,
Story
King weighs 90lbs! He needs a big yard for exploring! King loves to be in the company of other dogs. He is a little aloof with humans until he warms up to you, a common pyrenees trait. He seems ok with cats but should have a slow, safe introduction to be sure. He is neutral to kids. King will need to be leash trained although he is working on it daily with volunteers. He really would prefer a fenced property. Do you have a farm or ranch that needs a canine companion? King is your man.

Story
Eagle is an 8-pound, 6-week-old fluffy mutt with a personality as big as his name! Found in a field with his mom (a Golden Retriever/Pyrenees mix) and a potential dad (a Shepherd/Husky mix), Eagle has a stunning mix of traits that make him one-of-a-kind.The sassiest of his siblings, Eagle is a vocal little guy who loves to “talk” to you and share his opinions. He’s incredibly smart and already showing off his hilarious personality. Eagle loves playing tug-of-war and has a blast chasing his foster sibling around. Crate training is going great—he and his sister have been sleeping soundly for 8 hours each night with no accidents! If you’re looking for a funny, sassy, and sweet pup to liven up your home, Eagle is ready to be your new best friend!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.January 12, 2025, 5:30 am

Story
Pinto is a 2 - 3 yr old male Great Pyrenees mix. He has a medium energy level, so he should fit well into most homes provided he receives a moderate amount of daily exercise and play. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and likes to sit by his person for snuggles and kisses. Pinto does pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! He is food motivated and knows the command sit. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel and is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. For more information about this dog or any others at our Shelter, please visit www.joplinhumane.org. We are the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri. 417-623-3642. Story
Meet Minnie, an adult Great Pyrenees with a heart as big as her breed suggests. Friendly and joyful, she interacts gently with everyone she meets. Minnie is the perfect cuddle buddy, always ready to share her warmth, yet she’s also playful and full of energy. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious and will bring laughter to any home. Adopting Minnie means gaining a loyal friend and a loving companion. She’s more than just a shelter pet; she’s a family member waiting to meet you. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their size in a group setting, and dog meet-and-greets with the adopter's dog(s) are always encouraged. A cat test may be conducted at the adopter's request but should only be used as a general-purpose screening to rule out overt aggression. We always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendations on the suitability of placement with children by age are based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavioral observations in the shelter environment should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at a given point in time and may not be indicative of a dog's overall mental health. The Joplin Humane Society believes all adopters need to be prepared to invest time and energy into working with their new dog, as animals arrive at the shelter from a variety of situations and scenarios and may have had little to no prior training. Dogs should never be fed together unless it is known that they do not possess resource-guarding tendencies. We always encourage adopters to research the breeds or mixes of breeds before adoption as many can have unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Keep in mind that the transition from the shelter to a home environment is stressful for dogs, and the Rule of 3 should be used as a rule of thumb when introducing a dog to their new surroundings. For the first 3 days, fear, anxiety, and stress levels are at their highest; and dogs may appear lethargic, remain hidden, are easily excitable, or have a loss of appetite. In the next 3 weeks, dogs will be actively developing a routine, and new personality traits may appear as stress levels decrease. During this period, it is recommended that adopters limit the dog's exposure to new people and places as they adjust and keep them in a crate or designated quiet room when left alone. Time outside of the home should be short, and crowds or loud noise should be avoided. After 3 months, a bond has developed between the dogs and their new family, and the animal should appear more comfortable in unfamiliar situations. For more information about this dog or any others at our Shelter, please visit www.joplinhumane.org. We are the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri. 417-623-3642.
