Story
Katy Pawry had a rough start to life. She spent her days living on a chain until one day she broke free and escaped. Now she is discovering what it feels like to be safe, loved and part of a family - and she is absolutely blossoming. Katy Pawry is doing wonderfully in the house and is learning all about being a cherished family dog. She loves to be loved on and is perfectly happy curling up on the couch and relaxing with her people. Her personality is coming out more and more each day, and her foster family is getting to see what a truly special girl she is. Katy Pawry has started playing with toys and LOVES playing with other dogs. She currently lives with six dogs and a cat and interacts beautifully with all of them. Her two closest playmates are a Cocker Spaniel and a Chiweenie, and she can often be found happily racing around the yard playing with her friends. She is wonderful with kids, gets along with dogs and cats, rides well in the car and has no destructive habits. Katy is still working on potty training and learning to confidently go into her kennel, but once she is inside, she settles beautifully. She is a happy, affectionate girl who is finally learning that life can be good. We think Katy would especially thrive in a home with another friendly dog who can show her the ropes, keep her company and give her a playmate, although another dog is not a requirement. After everything Katy has been through, she deserves a family who will continue to show her how wonderful life can be. She is very close to being the perfect dog - and the best part is, she is just getting started. Story
Honey's journey has been filled with heartbreak, but through it all she has remained incredibly sweet, gentle, and trusting. She was found wandering the streets of Longview, Texas as a young puppy, skinny, covered in fleas, and suffering from worms. After receiving the medical care and love she needed, Honey was adopted into what everyone hoped would be her forever home. Sadly, that family failed her. When Honey escaped the neglect she was living in and was picked up by Animal Control, her adopter simply said she didn't want her anymore and told them to take her to the shelter. Thankfully, Honey was microchipped to our rescue. Once Animal Control scanned her chip, they contacted us instead, saving Honey from entering the shelter system once again. She returned to her foster home where she finally felt safe. Later, when her foster's circumstances changed, Honey and her best friend Beau were left behind. As soon as our rescue learned what had happened, we immediately picked them up and welcomed them back into our care. Today Honey is a wonderful companion. She is affectionate, house and crate trained, walks beautifully on leash, rides well in the car, and loves both adults and children. She gets along well with other dogs and occasionally lets out the adorable Pyrenees howl that makes everyone smile. Honey has every reason not to trust people, yet she continues to love with her whole heart. All she wants now is a family that will keep their promise to love her forever. She has waited long enough for the happy ending she truly deserves. Story
Koda is a handsome, approximately four-year-old Great Pyrenees/Australian Shepherd mix who came to us as an unclaimed stray. When he first arrived, this big boy was understandably nervous and unsure of his new surroundings. But with a little time, patience, and some familiar faces, Koda has really started to come out of his shell! These days, Koda is much more comfortable and is happily enjoying the food and attention offered to him. One of the best ways to see his sweet personality is to watch him greet a familiar staff member. As soon as someone he knows walks into his kennel, Koda pops right up with a big, happy tail wag and bright, eager eyes. As he has become more comfortable with staff, Koda has proven himself to be a pleasant, calm, and easy-going dog who is enjoyable to handle. He also appears to genuinely enjoy the company of other dogs and has shown appropriate behaviour during his interactions with them. With proper introductions, we believe Koda could potentially live happily with another dog. Koda's Great Pyrenees and Australian Shepherd heritage means he comes from two working breeds. He will thrive in a home that understands the importance of providing daily physical exercise as well as plenty of mental stimulation. He would love a family who can give him opportunities to explore, learn, and use his clever mind. He's also much happier when he's outside, where he can stretch his legs and take in the world around him. Because of his calm and gentle temperament, we believe Koda could potentially live with dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a large dog. Koda may have started his journey with us as a nervous stray, but he's showing us more of his wonderful personality every day. He's a sweet, easy-going guy who is looking for a patient family willing to give him the time, guidance, exercise, and love he deserves. If you're looking for a big-hearted companion with a big wag and an even bigger personality, Koda might just be your guy! Please complete an adoption request: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Koda has an appointment to be neutered on September 3rd. He is looking for a foster-to-adopt home between now and his surgery. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario

Story
Meet Velma With her stunning blue eyes and sweet, affectionate personality, Velma has a way of making everyone fall in love with her. At just 4 months old, she's a happy, playful puppy who is ready to find a family of her very own. Velma absolutely thrives on attention and is happiest when she's close to her people. She's the kind of puppy who wants to be included in everything you're doing, whether it's playtime in the yard, relaxing on the couch, or learning something new. She's incredibly smart and catches on quickly. In her foster home, the puppies began learning to go to their own feeding spots at mealtime, and by the second day Velma already knew exactly where she belonged. She's wonderful with the foster family's 5-year-old child and enjoys playing with the resident dogs as well as her siblings. One of the sweetest things about Velma is how badly she wants to be friends with the family cats. She approaches them with hopeful curiosity and would love nothing more than for them to return the favor. While the cats haven't quite accepted her invitations yet, Velma politely respects their boundaries when they let her know they've had enough. Like the rest of the Scooby Gang, Velma's life didn't begin the way any puppy's should. She was found abandoned with her siblings, hungry, covered in fleas, and suffering from irritated skin and hair loss. Thanks to plenty of love, good food, and medical care, she has blossomed into a healthy, confident puppy whose joyful spirit never stopped shining through. Velma is looking for a family that will continue helping her grow, learn, and experience all the adventures puppyhood has to offer. If you're searching for a loyal companion with a loving heart, a sharp mind, and a face that's impossible to resist, Velma is waiting to meet you. **Adopters must be able to pick up in Niagara Falls, NY** Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
