Story
John McClane is a 2 month old pyr-mix puppy who was born to lead, protect, and charm his way into your heart. He is the largest of the litter and still proudly holds that title, with a big fluffy build, a primarily cream coat, and a white blaze on his forehead. John is confident, playful, and social, with a friendly personality that shines around people, kids, and other dogs. He interacts beautifully with young children and does well with dogs of all sizes, including adult Great Pyrenees, a chihuahua, and a visiting miniature schnauzer. He loves wrestling with his littermates, playing tug and chase, and being right in the middle of the action. He is off to a fantastic start with puppy basics. John uses potty pads consistently, sleeps through the night, eats three meals a day, and settles quickly in his crate. He does well in the car and is already responding to his name. For a young puppy, he shows impressive awareness of his environment and a natural confidence in new situations. John has early instincts that suggest a livestock guardian type personality. He keeps a close eye on his surroundings and has already decided that the garbage truck is highly suspicious and worthy of commentary. It is very hard to sneak anything past him, and he takes his self appointed role as protector seriously, even at this young age. John is affectionate, sweet, and polite, with just a touch of swagger. He is curious, smart, and independent, but still very much a puppy who loves to play hard and then crash for a nap. He has minor separation fussing but settles easily and does best with routine and companionship. If you are looking for a bold, loyal puppy with a big personality, a protective streak, and a soft, snuggly side, John McClane is ready to report for duty. At Green Dogs Unleashed (GDU), we are dedicated to ensuring the successful placement of our dogs in loving, permanent homes. Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of returns due to behavioral issues that could have been prevented with the right support. A significant percentage of these returns involve out-of-area clients or those who have not completed training with GDU. To address this, positive reinforcement training with Green Dogs Unleashed is required as a condition for all adoptions. Preference for this dog will be given to adopters who commit to signing up for and completing our six-week Canine 101 training class in person at our headquarters in Troy, VA. Secondary consideration will be given to a limited number of out-of-area adopters who agree to complete one private lesson with GDU, either in person or virtually, and attend a pre-approved positive reinforcement training class in their area. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Story
Adeline is a two year old Great Pyrenees mix with double rear dew claws, a soft presence, and a calm, loyal nature. At about sixty pounds, she is a compact girl for her breed mix, and she carries herself with a gentle confidence that makes her easy to love. She is tidy, appears fully house trained, and keeps her space neat. She enjoys following her people from room to room and settles beautifully once she knows the routine. Adeline is affectionate, easygoing, and eager to please. She loves cuddling on the furniture with her trusted humans, riding in the car, strolling on a loose lead, and keeping an eye on household happenings. She will be the first to alert you when a delivery truck pulls into the driveway, and she takes her job as neighborhood watch very seriously. Once the intruders retreat, she settles quickly. She does well in her crate and will settle after a short period of protest, but she much prefers the freedom to sleep near her people. She knows several cues, including sit, down, and name recognition, and is working on off. Counter surfing is a temptation, but she responds immediately to redirection and is very receptive to guidance. She is smart, observant, and wonderfully food motivated. Adeline has been kind and patient with children, especially six year olds in her foster home. She does well with male dogs and small dogs, and she has learned to coexist with a large female dog through slow introductions. She has not been exposed to cats. As a nursing mother, her interactions with other dogs have been limited, but she has shown lovely potential for polite canine friendships. She rides beautifully in the car, walks calmly unless wildlife or significant stimuli appear, and even likes to carry her leash around the house as a prized belonging.Adeline is a gentle, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than a soft place to rest her head and a family to adore. Once her puppies are fully independent, she will be ready for her spay and for the next chapter of her life. She will make a loyal, loving addition to a home that appreciates her sweet nature, steady spirit, and watchful heart. Story
Judy Haynes is a 8 month old pyr-mix puppy with confidence far bigger than her tiny paws. While her name may belong to the “little sister” in White Christmas, in her litter Judy is unmistakably the leader of the pack. She is a thoughtful observer, a quick learner, and a bold explorer who seems to be constantly assessing her surroundings and deciding what adventure comes next. Judy is affectionate, playful, and wonderfully smart. She loves wrestling with her siblings, playing tug and chase, shadowing young children, and keeping a watchful eye on the world from the window. She has been socialized daily with six year old children and does great with dogs of all sizes. In her foster home, she takes cues from the adult Great Pyrenees and shows impressive situational awareness for such a young pup. She is already responding to her name, does well in the car, and is off to a strong start with potty training, using potty pads reliably and keeping her space very clean. She sleeps through the night, eats three meals a day, and is beginning to learn about crate time. Judy has minor separation fussing, but settles quickly. She is curious, confident, and independent, with a sweet, loving side that shines during play and cuddle time. She has even taken it upon herself to bravely defend her foster family from the terrifying robot vacuum. Judy Haynes is a puppy who knows who she is and where she is going. She will thrive with an engaged family who appreciates a bright, confident pup and is ready to guide her as she grows. If you are looking for a clever, adventurous puppy with leadership energy and a heart full of love, Judy is ready to meet you. Story
Hans Gruber is a 2 month old pyr-mix puppy with effortless charm and a calm confidence that makes you stop and smile. Like his famous namesake, this Hans is polished, charismatic, and quietly in control of the room, though the only thing he is stealing is hearts. Born the smallest of the litter and still holding that title, Hans makes up for size with presence. He sports a stunning, fluffy pure white coat, a signature gray right eye, and double rear dew claws that complete his distinctive look. He is equal parts cuddly love bug and thoughtful observer. Hans is gentle, affectionate, and incredibly easygoing. He loves to snuggle and often sleeps completely capsized, belly up and unbothered. While he enjoys romping and playing tug or chase with the pack, he prefers to join in on his own terms. He is not one to blindly follow the crowd. Instead, you will often find him perched at the highest point he can manage, calmly watching and taking everything in. He has been socialized daily with young children and interacts beautifully with a variety of dogs, including an adult Great Pyrenees, a chihuahua, and a visiting miniature schnauzer. He is friendly with strangers, does well in the car, and settles easily in both a secured area and his crate with minimal protest. Hans is off to a great start with potty training, consistently using potty pads and sleeping peacefully through the night. He is already responding to his name and shows a smart, thoughtful approach to learning. He has minor separation fussing but settles quickly. Hans Gruber is the kind of puppy who encourages you to slow down, sit still, and enjoy the moment. If you are looking for a calm, affectionate, quietly confident companion with movie star charisma and endless cuddle potential, Hans may be your perfect match. Story
Approximate Age: 8 years old Approximate Weight: 56lbs Fancy Pants Francis; This 7ish-year-old boy is known for his overall chill demeanor, but don't be surprised if you catch him doing tornado spins while joyfully tossing his toys in the air because even a refined man such as himself needs to have some fun from time to time. Francis is very friendly with other dogs (and cats!) Francis is currently in search of a nice and quiet home where he can feel comfortable. He is the perfect combination of independence and affection, often finding his way onto your lap for a few minutes of snuggles. It's important to be aware that Francis exhibits protective tendencies. He has bitten people when they have entered his space, so it’s best for him to be crated when guests visit. Outside the home, he is friendly with strangers. Francis thinks he's a canine traffic cop. Cars and bikes that whiz by are a potential menace to his neighborhood. A stern 'Leave it, Francis!' usually brings him back to reality (and his doggy bed). If you are a patient and understanding adopter, Fancy Pants Francis would be thrilled to become a part of your family. He promises to bring joy, snuggles, and plenty of memorable moments to your life.
