This brother and sister pair were found left at an abandoned property. They were emaciated and scared, but neighbors were able to make friends and now the pups are in a temporary foster home. Emma only weighs about 18 pounds right now. She's had her first vaccine, she's been dewormed and she's had flea treatment. We'd like to find a foster to adopt home for her to go to while she gets the rest of her vetting done. She's a playful affectionate girl! Nervous around other dogs, but that's common with dogs who were left in the country to fend for themselves. The farm dogs and coyotes can be mean and the stray dogs learn to be tough to scare off the other animals. Once she has had time to acclimate she's dog friendly. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. We take in special cases some of which will stay with us as a sanctuary dog.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect Dog this means they have special needs and special requirements for potential adopters.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect RESIDENT this animal is NOT available for adoption and is one of our sanctuary residents. Story
I may be 10, but I like to think of myself as senior in high school, so handsome and young-looking! I’m also just learning how to be a dog! Toys and bones have become some of my favorite things along with lots of love. I really enjoy walks and my foster mom says I’m great on a leash if you don’t mind me exploring both sides of the sidewalk. Since I came to KC REGAP in January, I’ve learned that most humans are actually really nice and now I love to meet new people; I get so excited! I’m not sure about other dogs along the sidewalk, and I definitely don’t do well with small dogs or cats. In the backyard, you won’t find me doing zoomies yet; I haven’t quite figured that out. However, I have discovered my voice and love to let you hear it when I get excited or am ready to play! I’m super gentle with treats!  I am learning the rules of the house and have done okay with my foster sister, but my mom says I would really do well as an only dog! That way I get to get all the attention. My ideal household would be one with older human siblings (teenage+) or adults. I still get startled and will let you know if I don’t like something, but my foster mom says I’ve made huge improvements since I came to KC REGAP. Patience is key with me as I’m still adjusting my personal space; but I will lean in real hard (almost knocking you over) as I show you affection! Roo is probably the most affectionate, loyal greyhound you’ll ever meet! He’s a great snuggler and a fantastic walker who gets much attention for his beautiful, elegant gait on the leash (not to mention his most gorgeous, big, brown eyes). He is the perfect dog-friendly coffee shop or brewery patio companion who stays right by your side and is wonderfully social with people of all ages! He is very well-behaved, quiet, house trained, friendly great in the car and loves nothing more than playing fetch in the backyard. Roo not only adores people, but this sweet, caring boy has also adopted quite a collection of stuffed animals - he enjoys showing his “babies” off to anyone who walks in the room. Although he is not cat-safe, he is impressively dog friendly on-leash, and off-leash with mature, well-mannered dogs of all breeds, providing he gets mindful & gradual introductions. Roo is a big boy with a big heart and would absolutely love a forever home with someone looking for a mature, low-key “Velcro dog” to provide plenty of companionship.   We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.October 22, 2024, 5:49 pm

Hi my name is Phoebe! I’m a sweet and super affectionate fuzzy girl! My favorite thing to do is cuddle with my people. I want to be next to my humans at all times! I am a smart girl who is house trained and knows how to sit! I love going on walks and playing with toys. I get along well with my foster brothers, but I would be happy to be your only fur baby. I also love going on walks and am great on leash. I do get mesmerized by squirrels and rabbits when I’m walking so just call my name and I’ll return my focus to you! I can’t wait to find a home where I get lots of pets and love!  We went to the park there were sudden fire engine and police cars sirens blaring she noticed but not startled.   She is such a calm sweet spirit and enjoys just being with you.
