Story
Rhett is my name; being lazy is my game! After almost 8 years I’m relaxing in a home for the first time in my life. It’s wonderful! I LOVE my kennel and sleep in it during the day when my foster mom is at work. I also sleep in the kennel at night but with the door open, just in case I need to check on mom during the night. As much as I love my kennel, I’m slowly spending more time outside of it, learning about being social and playing with toys. I look forward to my walks very much and am learning how to walk on a leash like a gentleman. My life was a bit rough before I came to my foster home and its causes me to be growly around other dogs. I love all the humans, though, and they all say I’m sweet as can be.  My perfect forever home would have people that can be patient with me as I learn about this new life and gain some confidence.     We adopt within 1 1/2 hours from KansasCity.    March 16, 2026, 9:12 pm

Story
"I may be a senior pup, but I like to think of myself as a senior in high school—60 pounds, so handsome and young-looking! I have the softest brown eyes and best ears, especially when I’m trying to figure out a new sound. After 10 years, I’m just learning how to be a dog, but I think I’ve got the hang of it now! Toys and bones have become some of my favorite things along with lots of love. I know how to play fetch with my plush toys…but I’m only good for about 10min (true greyhound fashion!) I nap most of the day but if you say “Walk!”, I’m your guy and get so excited to go exploring! I don’t mind 1-2 miles, piece of cake. Speaking of treats, yes please!! I’m extra gentle when you give me one. Since I came to KC REGAP, I’ve learned that humans are actually really nice and now I love to meet new people; I get so excited!    I'm a special needs guy looking for experienced dog owners who will pick up on my verbal and visual cues. Lucky for me being in a foster home since coming to KC REGAP, I’ve learned my human’s verbal cues as well. I am not sure about other dogs along the sidewalk, and I definitely don’t do well with small dogs or cats. My foster mom says I would do best with a privacy fence and as an only dog! In the backyard, you won’t find me doing zoomies just yet; I haven’t quite figured that out. However, I have discovered my voice and love to let you hear it when I get excited or am ready to play!   My ideal household would be one with older human siblings (teenage+) or adults. Patience is key with me as I learn to trust you; but I will lean in real hard (almost knocking you over) as I show you lots of love and attention!" We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.  Please feel free to complete your application on our website KCREGAP.orgMarch 16, 2026, 9:57 pm

Story
My name is Moxie I am beautiful girl!! I have a pretty black and try color coat with some white, and a little wiry hair. I just turned 3 on May 12. I am very calm girl. I am getting used to my foster home. Learning the rules. Getting more and more comfortable each day!! This is all new to me. I have had No accidents in the house!!! I can go up and down stairs. Also learning that it's fun to go on walks, with my foster sister Ash. She is also showing me the basket of toys! How fun they can be. Everyone is so nice to me especially the kids. I like my belly rubbed gently. I like to stand quietly or lay in my soft dog bed and watch what's going on. Especially the kitchen it has great smells. If I get a chance I do enjoy a quick zumie around the yard... Or laying in the soft grass. We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.June 17, 2026, 9:11 pm

Story
“Penny is the total package: sweet, snuggly, playful, and always ready to be your little sidekick! This lovable girl’s favorite things in life include cuddling with her humans (and other dogs!), chasing squeaky toys, and following her people from room to room like the loyal companion she is. If you’re looking for a dog who wants to be involved in everything you do, Penny is your girl. She absolutely soaks up attention and loves being pet, loved on, and told what a good girl she is. Penny is also a curious pup who enjoys exploring the world around her. Sometimes loud noises can make her a little nervous, but with encouragement and reassurance, she shows just how brave she can be! Penny already has some great manners under her belt — she’s potty trained, walks well on a leash, and enjoys getting out for walks and adventures. She’s currently working on keeping all four paws on the ground when she gets extra excited to meet people because she just can’t contain her happiness sometimes! If you want a fun, affectionate, goofy best friend who will fill your home with love, squeaky toy concerts, and constant companionship, Penny can’t wait to meet you!”   We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.June 17, 2026, 9:11 pm

Story
Honey Bee is as sweet as her name suggests. She is an affectionate little lady that loves to explore. She is still learning her house manners, but improving rapidly! She can be solo or live with another furry friend, but larger is better, as she is not cat or small dog safe. She has started to relax while running in the yard, but is on high alert for rabbits and squirrels while being walked. Honey listens well, sleeps through the night, and loves to play with toys, but beware, she is a stuffy shredder. She has made herself right at home with her foster family and will be the perfect addition to any loving home! We adopt within 1 1/2 hour of Kansas City.  March 16, 2026, 8:50 pm
