Story
Scout, 6 months old, male  Hi my name is Scout and I’m a young lurcher pup that was found abandoned with my brother in Kansas. I’m a sweet boy and I love to snuggle and give kisses. I’m still learning my manners and working on potty training but I already know how to sit and shake! I’m very smart! I am also doing great at walking on a leash. I get along great with my foster brothers and am very playful. I love toys and running around in the backyard! I can’t wait to find my furever family!  Scout has not been neutered yet and he will be prior to finalized adoption. We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.January 6, 2026, 12:04 pm

Story
Sweet Tilly – A Resilient Soul with the Sweetest Heart Tilly is a 6-year-old petite greyhound with a stunning light auburn brindle coat, a distinguished dark face mask, and one adorably floppy left ear that gives her irresistible character. When she prances down the sidewalk with her quirky Clydesdale gait, she's an absolute eye-catcher. This remarkable girl has overcome tremendous hardships to become the happy, well-adjusted companion she is today. When Tilly first came into foster care, she had everything to learn – stairs, leash walking, potty training, even how to be a pet. She tackled each new challenge like a champ and has blossomed into the happiest little girl ever. What makes Tilly special is her gentle, undemanding nature. She's unusually independent for a greyhound and will often put herself to bed in another room, making her ideal for families who appreciate a dog that isn't underfoot constantly. Yet when she's with you, she's extremely affectionate and loving. When she feels confused or out of her depth, she does the most endearing thing – she simply freezes and stares straight ahead rather than panicking. She's truly unobtrusive and an incredibly easy dog to have in the house. Tilly is wonderfully polite on walks, non-reactive to dogs of all sizes, and loves all people (though she may be a touch shy initially). She doesn't bark at the doorbell, isn't destructive, and has recently discovered the joy of playing with toys for the first time in her life. She's still learning to play with her foster siblings and can be a little clumsy in her enthusiasm, but this clever girl picks up new skills every week. Tilly is deeply empathetic and sensitive – she needs a little confidence building, as corrections can make her feel terribly guilty. When she apologizes with those big brown eyes, your heart will absolutely melt. She thrives with gentle guidance and patience. Low-maintenance, sweet-natured, and resilient beyond measure – Tilly is ready to bring her gentle presence and loving heart to her forever home.  We know she can not live with cats or small dogs. She will need to be the only dog in the home. Older kids only.    We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.January 13, 2026, 3:41 pm

Story
"I may be a senior pup, but I like to think of myself as a senior in high school—60 pounds, so handsome and young-looking! I have the softest brown eyes and best ears, especially when I’m trying to figure out a new sound. After 10 years, I’m just learning how to be a dog, but I think I’ve got the hang of it now! Toys and bones have become some of my favorite things along with lots of love. I know how to play fetch with my plush toys…but I’m only good for about 10min (true greyhound fashion!) I nap most of the day but if you say “Walk!”, I’m your guy and get so excited to go exploring! I don’t mind 1-2 miles, piece of cake. Speaking of treats, yes please!! I’m extra gentle when you give me one. Since I came to KC REGAP, I’ve learned that humans are actually really nice and now I love to meet new people; I get so excited!    I'm a special needs guy looking for experienced dog owners who will pick up on my verbal and visual cues. Lucky for me being in a foster home since coming to KC REGAP, I’ve learned my human’s verbal cues as well. I am not sure about other dogs along the sidewalk, and I definitely don’t do well with small dogs or cats. My foster mom says I would do best with a privacy fence and as an only dog! In the backyard, you won’t find me doing zoomies just yet; I haven’t quite figured that out. However, I have discovered my voice and love to let you hear it when I get excited or am ready to play!   My ideal household would be one with older human siblings (teenage+) or adults. Patience is key with me as I learn to trust you; but I will lean in real hard (almost knocking you over) as I show you lots of love and attention!" We adopt within 1 1/2 hours of Kansas City.  Please feel free to complete your application on our website KCREGAP.orgFebruary 18, 2025, 8:22 pm

Story
A Greyhound as special as Queen certainly deserves the royal treatment!  Queen has a slender but well-muscled physique and exquisite facial markings, a mosaic of black, grey, and white. No wonder Queen turns heads!   Appropriate to her name, this striking Greyhound has a queen-size personality. Queen really knows how to party hearty! She loves her squeaky toys, often carrying them around the house, just in case the desire to play strikes unexpectedly. She also loves doing zoomies in the backyard, where romping with her fur-sibling always guarantees a good time. A daily promenade is also on Queen’s schedule, and while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, she has demonstrated quite a talent for walking on a leash in a dignified and lady-like fashion.   Ever mindful of the need for beauty rest, after bursts of frivolity or her daily constitutional, Queen settles down for prolonged periods of relaxation. She is a champion snoozer, curling into a sleek ball of fur surrounded by her beloved toys.   Queen’s foster dad describes her as a quick learner who is alert and inquisitive. She gets along well with her Greyhound companion and waits patiently for her turn to receive treats. She likes trailing dad around the house, just going to show that even a queen can be a good and loyal follower. Queen is a potty-training champ who knows when and where to do her business.    Are you ready for a big dish of royal class-with a scoop of fun and sweetness on the side? If so, perhaps lovely Queen is the Greyhound of your dreams. We adopt within 1 1/2 hour of Kansas City.  January 24, 2026, 11:10 pm

Story
Rhett is my name; being lazy is my game! After almost 8 years I’m relaxing in a home for the first time in my life. It’s wonderful! I LOVE my kennel and sleep in it during the day when my foster mom is at work. I also sleep in the kennel at night but with the door open, just in case I need to check on mom during the night. As much as I love my kennel, I’m slowly spending more time outside of it, learning about being social and playing with toys. I look forward to my walks very much and am learning how to walk on a leash like a gentleman. My life was a bit rough before I came to my foster home and its causes me to be growly around other dogs. I love all the humans, though, and they all say I’m sweet as can be.  My perfect forever home would have people that can be patient with me as I learn about this new life and gain some confidence.     We adopt within 1 1/2 hours from KansasCity.    January 24, 2026, 11:32 pm

Pax loves zoomies in the back yard as well as squirrel  chasing, chewing on bully sticks, and playing with toys. He’s super loving and ready to give you his love and loyalty forever.
