HELP US GET THIS HANDSOME BOY DIRECTLY INTO A LOVING HOME! 🐾💙 Meet Basil, a 6-year-old Basset Hound with adorable floppy ears, a laid-back personality and a whole lot of love to give! 🥹❤️ Basil has been with his family since he was just 4 months old. Unfortunately, changes in their work schedules mean they can no longer give him the time and attention he deserves. BASIL IS STILL WITH HIS ORIGINAL FAMILY, AND WE WOULD LOVE TO KEEP HIM OUT OF BOARDING AND MOVE HIM DIRECTLY INTO A FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME! 🏡 We are hoping to find someone interested in potentially adopting Basil who can welcome him into their home while we complete his intake and get his veterinary care up to date. 🐶 MEET BASIL! 🐾 6-year-old male Basset Hound 🐾 Approximately 50 pounds 🐾 Neutered 🐾 Beautiful apricot and white coat 🐾 Laid-back and affectionate 🐾 Loves sniffing around, lounging and jerky treats 🐾 Housebroken with potty breaks approximately every 4 hours 🐾 Good with other dogs, although he can occasionally be dominant 🐾 Good with cats and generally ignores them 🐾 Walks on a leash 🐾 Not a fence jumper or digger 🐾 Enjoys baths and being brushed 🐾 Not currently crate trained 💙 WHAT KIND OF HOME DOES BASIL NEED? Basil is a pretty easygoing gentleman who enjoys the simple things in life. Give him a comfortable place to nap, some tasty treats, a yard to sniff around and plenty of attention, and he'll be a happy boy! He does have some boundaries when it comes to nail trims. Basil has bitten during nail trims in the past, so he needs an adult-only home that understands his handling needs. He currently does well at a grooming facility that uses a protective cone and grooming hammock. He also needs someone who can provide regular bathroom breaks and help him adjust to his new routine. His veterinary care needs to be brought up to date, including heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and a neuter. 🏡 WHY FOSTER-TO-ADOPT? Because Basil is still with his original family, we have an opportunity to make his transition as smooth as possible! Rather than bringing him into our rescue and placing him in expensive boarding while we search for a family, we would love to find someone who is already interested in making him a permanent part of their life. A foster-to-adopt home would allow us to bring Basil directly into our care while giving him the opportunity to settle into what could become his forever home. And for Basil, that means fewer changes, less stress and a chance to start bonding with his future family right away. ❤️ He's spent nearly his entire life with the same family. Currently this sweet tri-pod baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. Story
Rollie was surrendered after his owner died. He had never lived inside until he came into rescue. He is now house and crate trained. He does love to run and play and hide his bones outside. He had very little socialization with other dogs and is a little dog selective (prefers females more than males). He's more of a loner than most. He has always been crated inside to avoid the mischief a beagle tends to get into with chewing items he isn't supposed to be chewing. It is more for his safety of not swallowing anything harmful. He will bark to let you know when he needs to go potty. He has been completely vetted. He deserves a home of his own to retire in and enjoy the rest of his life. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions.
