Story
Brownie (aka Bubba) is a cute 6-year old male Miniature Pinscher/Beagle mix who was surrendered to the HSOV on March 6, 2026 for a heartbreaking reason since his owner has been hospitalized and is no longer able to care for his beloved pet. Brownie may look familiar to many of our HSOV volunteers and Facebook fans since he was adopted from HSOV in December 2021. Brownie has enjoyed 4-years and four months with his adoptive owner and surely misses being in a loving home with the person who adored him. Brownie has a black-and-brown short smooth coat with a smidgeon of white on his chest, a long tail, and an adorable (rather mischievous-looking) face with a tan mask, a slender muzzle, and magnificent large floppy ears which frame his face. This little guy is full of playful puppy-like energy. Brownie adores his adult people friends, but he doesn't do well with other dogs, cats, or young children. Brownie has been kept indoors. Brownie weighs approximately 21 lbs and walks fairly well on leash. He has already been neutered. These photos were taken on March 6, 2026 when HSOV Shelter Manager Tracy Lynn Moore helped Brownie with his 'big boy' outdoor pictures and gave him extra attention while telling him what a good boy he was. Since Brownie has already been neutered, he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application. We'd love to see him back in a home environment instead of in a small shelter floor crate. Update:: Brownie went home with a foster family on March 20, 2026 who plans to adopt him if all goes well. Brownie was returned at closing time on March 20, 2026 because he was nipping/growling at a grandchild in his foster family's home. Brownie is NOT good with other dogs, cats, or children and prefers to be an 'only child/dog' in his adult family's home. Update: Brownie went home with a foster family on April 11, 2026 who plans to adopt him if all goes well. Brownie was returned by his foster family on April 14, 2026 because he wouldn't eat for some reason.

Story
Chrissy is a beautiful female Beagle mix (perhaps 3-years old) who was left in an outside kennel at the HSOV during the overnight/early morning hours on August 8th 2026. Her two companions (Janet and Jack) were also left with Chrissy. The person who abandoned them was apparently their owner, but that individual did not leave any information about them (not even their real names). Chrissy has a tricolored short-haired coat, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked brown/white face with soulful brown eyes, a black button nose, a slender muzzle, and large brown velvet ears which beg to be petted. Chrissy has the cutest underbite which makes her even more beautiful in our eyes. This little sweetheart has a friendly disposition and a rather outgoing personality. Chrissy was a pleasure to photograph when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied her for outdoor pictures on the afternoon of August 8th. Chrissy initially followed her nose through the green grass before posing for her Petfinder/Facebook debut photos. She turned on the charm, smiled for the camera, and showed off her award-winning cute underbite .. And melted the photographer's heart! Chrissy hadn't yet stepped on the scales that day, but she likely weighs 45 lbs or so. Chrissy will be spayed before she is officially adopted by her new family. Chrissy could be fostered or fostered-to-adopt while she is awaiting that procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application. Update: Chrissy was spayed on August 24th 2026 and was also given rabies vaccine. So Chrissy is ready to find a fabulous home.
