Story
Brownie (aka Bubba) is a cute 6-year old male Miniature Pinscher/Beagle mix who was surrendered to the HSOV on March 6, 2026 for a heartbreaking reason since his owner has been hospitalized and is no longer able to care for his beloved pet. Brownie may look familiar to many of our HSOV volunteers and Facebook fans since he was adopted from HSOV in December 2021. Brownie has enjoyed 4-years and four months with his adoptive owner and surely misses being in a loving home with the person who adored him. Brownie has a black-and-brown short smooth coat with a smidgeon of white on his chest, a long tail, and an adorable (rather mischievous-looking) face with a tan mask, a slender muzzle, and magnificent large floppy ears which frame his face. This little guy is full of playful puppy-like energy. Brownie adores his adult people friends, but he doesn't do well with other dogs, cats, or young children. Brownie has been kept indoors. Brownie weighs approximately 21 lbs and walks fairly well on leash. He has already been neutered. These photos were taken on March 6, 2026 when HSOV Shelter Manager Tracy Lynn Moore helped Brownie with his 'big boy' outdoor pictures and gave him extra attention while telling him what a good boy he was. Since Brownie has already been neutered, he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application. We'd love to see him back in a home environment instead of in a small shelter floor crate. Update:: Brownie went home with a foster family on March 20, 2026 who plans to adopt him if all goes well. Brownie was returned at closing time on March 20, 2026 because he was nipping/growling at a grandchild in his foster family's home. Brownie is NOT good with other dogs, cats, or children and prefers to be an 'only child/dog' in his adult family's home. Update: Brownie went home with a foster family on April 11, 2026 who plans to adopt him if all goes well. Brownie was returned by his foster family on April 14, 2026 because he wouldn't eat for some reason.

Story
Chrissy is a beautiful female Beagle mix (perhaps 3-years old) who was left in an outside kennel at the HSOV during the overnight/early morning hours on August 8th 2026. Her two companions (Janet and Jack) were also left with Chrissy. The person who abandoned them was apparently their owner, but that individual did not leave any information about them (not even their real names). Chrissy has a tricolored short-haired coat, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked brown/white face with soulful brown eyes, a black button nose, a slender muzzle, and large brown velvet ears which beg to be petted. Chrissy has the cutest underbite which makes her even more beautiful in our eyes. This little sweetheart has a friendly disposition and a rather outgoing personality. Chrissy was a pleasure to photograph when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied her for outdoor pictures on the afternoon of August 8th. Chrissy initially followed her nose through the green grass before posing for her Petfinder/Facebook debut photos. She turned on the charm, smiled for the camera, and showed off her award-winning cute underbite .. And melted the photographer's heart! Chrissy hadn't yet stepped on the scales that day, but she likely weighs 45 lbs or so. Chrissy will be spayed before she is officially adopted by her new family. Chrissy could be fostered or fostered-to-adopt while she is awaiting that procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application. Update: Chrissy was spayed on August 24th 2026 and was also given rabies vaccine. So Chrissy is ready to find a fabulous home.

Hi, I'm Flossy! 🐾 I'm a 5-month-old tricolor Beagle with a friendly and playful spirit — and at 32 pounds, I'm still growing into my paws. I get along great with other dogs, so I'd thrive in a home where I have furry friends to play with. Come meet me — I promise you'll fall for my wagging tail! 💕

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi, my name is Piper. I was found as a stray and brought to the Olive Branch so my owner could find me. Sadly, nobody called looking for me. So, here I am in search of a new home. I am a very loving girl, who would make any one a wonderful companion. I play fetch, sit on command, and have pretty good leash manners. I would love to have an active home with someone who will take me for adventures like long walks and car rides. As much as I love to run and play, I do need a fenced yard.  I seem to get along well with other dogs, but I need to meet any other dog buddies you may have. I don't seem to mind cats either. I'm a very active girl, so older children would be better.  I have been spayed, combo tested (all negative), dewormed, vaccinated, and I'm up to date with my preventives. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fred looks way older than he is. The white on his face is deceiving. He is just a young 2-year-old boy. He is smaller than both Edna and Edith. He loves sun-bathing. Fred has bonded to both Edna and Edith. He is much calmer when they are near. Fred is a tender-hearted beagle who could really use someone to spoil him! Fred is on 30 days of doxycycline for testing Lyme +. Fred is neutered and up to date on his Rabies vaccine. He has received flea/tick/deworming medicine as well. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 9, 2026, 2:30 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Edith's long ears and body make us think she might have some basset hound in her. She has short little legs and waddles when she walks. She is calm and very friendly. She loves wet canned food and will snatch the can away if you aren't watching. She is also very laid-back, and nothing really bothers her. Edith is on 30 days of doxycycline for testing Lyme +. Edith is spayed, up to date on the Rabies vaccine, Bordetella, & received the 1st DHLPP vaccine. She was 4DX Tested (Lyme +, Anaplasma +). You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Edna turns on the charm when a camera comes out. She is extremely photogenic. She came to us with two other Beagle mixes: Edith and Fred. She is very close to both of them, especially Edith. She is your typical beagle; laid-back, sweet, and adorable. She will paw at you if not providing enough love and pets.  Edna is spayed, up to date on Rabies vaccine, 4DX Tested (Lyme +, Anaplasma +), Bordetella vaccine, and first DHLPP vaccine. Edna is on 30 days of Doxycycline for her Lyme +. She has received flea/tick/deworming medicine as well. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
These 3 handsome brothers were surrendered over to us. They were another unprevented litter. We were able to help give assistance to get the mother dog spayed so this doesn't happen again. These boys are full of life and personality. They are believed to be Beagle/Elk Hound/Shepherd/ Pit mixes. These boys are around 5 months old now. They won't get much bigger. They will all be neutered and up to date before adoption. Love all people, one of them is a little shy at first. Seem to do fine around the other dogs. They are still young pups so they have much to learn and can learn to live with other animals. Working on their house training skills. Adoption fee is $150
