Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet, sassy, senior boy!Meet Ace – Your Loyal Little Shadow in the Making Ace is an adorable, scruffy little nearly 10-year-old, 13-pound Havanese mix with a tender heart and so much love still to give. After spending five wonderful years in a home, Ace recently returned to SVPP when his beloved momma passed away unexpectedly and her family was unable to keep him. His world changed overnight, and he’s now patiently waiting for a forever family to help him feel safe again. A Gentle Soul Who Blossoms with Time Ace adapts to new situations in his own time. He needs a few days to settle in and get comfortable with new people and surroundings. But once he knows he’s safe and that his humans can be trusted, his infectious cuteness shines through. When he feels secure, Ace’s favorite place is right next to his people—cuddling close and happily being the center of attention. He absolutely loves: Car rides Leisurely walks Sunbathing in a cozy spot Earning tasty treats The Home Ace Needs Ace will thrive with a patient, experienced adopter who understands that trust is earned, not rushed. He needs someone who will allow him to set the pace as he builds a relationship with his new family. Respecting his boundaries is essential. In the first few weeks, Ace may be moody and can show fear-based aggression if he feels uncomfortable or pressured. A calm, positive environment where all humans consistently respect his space will help him feel secure. Once he trusts you, he becomes incredibly sweet, deeply loyal, and devoted. Social & Lifestyle Notes Gets along well with other small dogs who respect his boundaries Unknown how he is with cats House-trained and crate-trained Behaves well when left alone Walks nicely on leash but can be leash reactive in close quarters with other dogs Will do best with regular exercise to keep him happy and balanced Health Like many small dogs his age, Ace has a few medical needs that require ongoing monitoring and management. With proper care, he remains an active, loving little companion ready to enjoy life. A Note About Adoption Events Adoption Events can be too chaotic and unpredictable for this special boy. Filling out an adoption application is the very best way to learn all about and meet Ace. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 23, 2026, 6:56 pm

Story
We rescued Gigi from a distant shelter. The shelter person told us that she was maybe about 4-5 yrs old and very friendly. Great with dog buddy in her kennel. One shelter staff person said she didn't notice all the medical needs that Gigi has. Gigi was neglected matted and very dirty with bad smell. Dog friendly. When she went to our vet he told us she is older and that she needed dental and had some gum inflammation has lump on belly (need to remove & biopsy) not spayed and has double cataracts (vet did eye dye tests). Blood and urine tests shows no diabetes which can cause cataracts. No issues seen in test results. She was so smelly that the vet office shaved her body and bathed her. We already spent over $1000 for her vet care and many tests. Problem… it will cost over $3000 plus for her dental X-ray spay removal of lump biopsy and $10K for cataract surgery if we opt for this surgery. Vet gave her eye drops. She has poor vision but sees light and large objects. She is getting around fine at her foster home and on walks. She can manage going up and down stairs. We plan to try another drop that dissolves cataract for $150. Seen good results with other dog owners. Then will see a vision vet. Gigi is great with foster home's dog. Very easy going and sweet. She loves her food and does rollies. Can go up and down stairs to 2nd floor and jump up on sofa and bed. Does fine on walks. Did great going to foster home's work studio with her and did great with everyone. Greeted people. Walked around and very well behaved. Gigi is such a good girl. We have spent over $1000 so far on first exam eye blood & urine tests shave down/bath medications and all her vet care. Her vet costs will be in the high thousands for dental spay lump removal and eye care. If we have to do cataract eye surgery it will cost us $8000 - $10000. We hope the healthy foods eye vitamins and drops work to avoid the surgery. Donations are greatly needed and appreciated. Thank you. ð&#194&#159¥° https://www.furryfriendsrescue.org/donationsMarch 10, 2026, 12:50 am
