Adoption fee: $750 Meet Hoodwink, a 1–2 year old, 16 lb Havanese/Coton mix with a soft, non-shedding coat and a personality that sneaks right into your heart. She came to us from the shelter alongside her buddy Bamboozle, and from the very first moment in her foster home, Hoodwink proved she is exactly as charming as her name suggests. Fair warning: she will hoodwink you into extra treats, more couch time, and letting her sit on your lap forever.   Hoodwink adjusted to her foster home routine almost instantly. She starts her day between 7–8am with a trip to the backyard for a potty break, followed by breakfast and a morning walk. She enjoys three walks a day— morning, afternoon, and evening— and eats dinner right around 5pm. During the workday, she’s a model companion, happily curling up on her own bed next to her foster parents’ desks and napping while they work. That said, her true love is the couch. If you’re looking for her, odds are high she’s already claimed a prime spot on the sofa. Evenings are calm and cozy, with Hoodwink winding down around 8pm, soaking up pets and attention before heading to bed.   Personality-wise, Hoodwink skipped the “shy rescue dog” phase entirely. She trusted her foster family immediately and has been affectionate from day one. She is a certified cuddler, snuggler, and full-on Velcro dog. Being close to her people is her favorite thing, and she is happiest when she can see you, touch you, or ideally be cradled in your arms like a baby. She’ll happily melt into you and stay there as long as you’ll allow it. While she initially struggled when separated or placed in a pen or crate, she has already shown progress and is learning that short separations are okay. Her bond with her people is strong, and she thrives on reassurance, affection, and consistency.   Hoodwink is very friendly with humans and will often approach people to politely (or not-so-politely) request pets. She lives with an 8-year-old, 25 lb Cavachon foster sister and coexists beautifully— sharing the couch, sleeping nearby, and walking together. While there isn’t much active play between them due to the older dog’s mellow nature, Hoodwink will sometimes try to initiate play. One thing is certain: she does not want to be left out. If another dog is getting attention, Hoodwink will appear instantly to make sure she’s included.   She is more of a lounger than an athlete, though she does enjoy occasional play. On walks, Hoodwink is a pleasant surprise— she walks nicely on leash, doesn’t pull, and generally stays focused. She may pause to watch people pass by and can sometimes bark at strangers or feel nervous around certain dogs, choosing to hide behind her person for reassurance. With time and confidence-building, she should continue to improve.   Hoodwink is still working on house training. She does use pee pads and is making gradual progress with a consistent schedule and regular walks. She is otherwise very easy to care for and does not display destructive behaviors beyond chewing pee pads when anxious.   What truly sets Hoodwink apart is her boundless affection and gentle nature. She offers unlimited love, wants nothing more than to be close to her humans, and has an endearing habit of standing up on her back legs and even taking a few steps. She also does an adorable sploot that will absolutely make your day.   Hoodwink is the kind of dog who will quietly steal your heart, then shamelessly hoodwink you into rearranging your life so there’s always room for her on the couch—and in your arms.February 10, 2026, 7:00 pm
