Story
Dylan is a tiny little puppy know as a Havamalt, a Havanese and Maltese pup. He is a spirited little guy who will start out a bit shy. He was born in a commercial breeding facility and dogs not have the same puppy experiences a dog might have that was born in your home. He wasn't exposed to the same things at an early age. That being said, he is learning and adjusting well now that he is with us. He is a happy guy who loves to play with his mates. He will need house training and regular training like any puppy would. He does like to vocalize so he will be best suited for a home rather than an apartment or condo setting. Dylan is a little guy causing him to be more fragile, He can't be in a home with little kids but would be fine with older kids. Like all puppies, he will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all puppies—not only to give Dylan important learning skills, but because you and your puppy will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Dylan is fully vetted. He has been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of his adopter. His adoption donation is $1200..00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family. Little dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Dylan wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 9 MONTHS): You must have a very flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in and to the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits. If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoption candidate, please fill out an application for adoption on our website at: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org/info/adoption We are all volunteers with full-time jobs. Story
Marty is a resilient little 3-year-old mixed breed with a heart full of courage. A previous rescue, it’s believed Marty may have been hit by a car, which has left him walking a little differently with his hind end. We’re currently doing radiograph diagnostics to learn more, but his past doesn’t define him—he’s still full of love, curiosity, and the desire to find a forever home. Marty would thrive with adopters who are patient, understanding, and ready to support him as he continues to build strength and confidence. In return, he offers his sweet, loyal companionship and the joy of giving love to a family that truly sees him. If you’re looking for a courageous little buddy who’s already overcome a lot but still has so much love to give, Marty is ready to meet you. 🐾❤️

Story
Some dogs come into our lives for a chapter. Others bring their very best friend along and promise a story you’ll never forget. ❤️ Meet Sparky and Gracie, a wonderfully mismatched but perfectly matched bonded pair looking for a home where they can stay together forever. Sparky is a 15-year-old medium-sized Pitbull mix with the heart of a teddy bear. This gentle senior has truly mastered the art of the good life: peaceful walks, sunny spots outside, delicious meals, and lots of cuddles with his people. Though he’s a bigger boy, Sparky is incredibly soft and sweet. His foster family says one of his most charming habits is quietly walking over while they’re sitting on the couch and placing his head on their leg. That’s his polite way of asking for cuddle time—and once he does it, it’s pretty much impossible to resist joining him on the floor for snuggles. Sparky is housebroken, non-destructive, and wonderfully polite on leash. He enjoys his walks and will greet other dogs with a friendly sniff before moving along. These days his energy level is low, and he’s happiest curling up near the people and dogs he loves. Every once in a while he’ll even surprise everyone with a little burst of zoomies in the yard! Sparky does have some arthritis, but he manages it well and mostly just appreciates soft places to rest and a slower pace of life. Sparky has also been diagnosed with mast cell tumors. While that can sound scary, the good news is that they are currently slow growing and are not affecting his quality of life. He’s simply a senior dog who deserves comfort, kindness, and a family to love for however many happy days lie ahead. And then there’s Gracie, his adorable 7-year-old fluffy sidekick, likely a Havanese mix. Where Sparky is calm and steady, Gracie brings the sparkle and silliness. She’s a happy, playful little dog who seems to wake up each day excited to make friends and have fun. Gracie is incredibly friendly with people and dogs alike—her tail starts wagging the moment she meets someone new. She enjoys her walks, greets other dogs politely on leash, and loves to play. Stuffed toys are her absolute favorite. Her foster family says she’ll sometimes toss a toy up into the air, flip onto her back, and flail her legs around in pure goofy joy. Other times she’ll happily play on the floor for ages, giving playful growls and little barks that make everyone laugh. But as playful as she is, Gracie is also a champion cuddler. She loves curling up on the couch after playtime and soaking up affection. Sometimes she’ll be resting nearby, then suddenly lift her little head just to give her foster a sweet lick on the chin. Her foster family describes her as playful, friendly, loving, sweet, and happy—and they say they will miss both the play sessions and the cuddles the most. Together, Sparky and Gracie make a beautiful pair. They balance each other perfectly—Sparky’s calm, gentle presence paired with Gracie’s playful spirit. Sparky especially relies on Gracie for comfort, and he becomes anxious when separated from her, so they must be adopted together. They are both housebroken, non-destructive, friendly with other dogs, and wonderful with children. They’re also great at meeting new people and settle into home life easily. If you’re looking for double the love, double the companionship, and a pair of dogs whose friendship will melt your heart, Sparky and Gracie are ready to fill your home with warmth, laughter, and cuddles. 🐾 The adoption fee for Sparky and Gracie together is $550. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Sparky and Gracie, please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team member.

Story
Nala is loving house trained very energetic, greedy lol love the outdoors but not really trained out doors meaning she runs wild if she’s not on a leash, she’s territorial with her toys. She don’t really do the throw the ball and she bring it back to you lol she’s good with kids. She will go in the trash. She listens well though. Nala loves being loved on. We have a busy house so no one is really never here with her. She gets three meals a day she go outside when one of us is able to take her out. She has never been mistreated and we just want a loving home for her. Had rehoused her for a year. The young lady moved and couldn’t take her with her so I end up taking her back and I’ve been trying to find a new home for her and thats been unsuccessful so I pray that whoever gets her will love her just as much as we do and be able to get her all of the extra attention and love that she wasn’t able to get this time around with us.She’s made 3 in January. She adapts well.

Story
Genevieve is a girl who was burdened with a rough start in life. She was removed from an unsanitary hoarding environment with 4 other dogs who were all matted, terrified, unsocialized, and in overall terrible condition. Since joining the CRA family, the rest of the dogs she arrived with have all been adopted and are thriving in forever-families, but Gen is still waiting. She has been with us since July. She is hesitant when meeting new people and her uncertainty makes it hard to immediately see the huge personality hiding beneath the surface. Once she bonds with someone, she is loyal, full of love and energy, and downright comical. She bounces like a bunny, prancing around your feet and smiling like a goofball. She has since learned that people can be kind and she loves to cuddle or be near by. She is also an excellent splooter. We are currently working through a bit of separation anxiety. She had no foundational skills when she came to us but has continued to make improvements. She has made many dog friends during her time with us and we think she might do best in a home with another dog at this time. Another dog would help her gain confidence and trust in her forever home, learn routine and more. Gen is being fostered currently in Chicago and has an open adoption radius. This means that she is accepting adoption applications outside of our typical radius, however, the adopter has to travel to Chicago to meet and finalize the adoption. Gen's adoption fee includes her spay, up to date vaccines and prevention (flea, tick and heart worm), heart worm negative, and microchip. If you are interested in being considered a forever home for her, please apply directly.
