Story
Meet Lettie Mama duty? Officially complete. Now Lettie is ready for the fun part: being somebody’s spoiled best friend. Lettie arrived in Illinois from Texas back in November after her owner entered hospice care. Her foster family thought they were just welcoming one dog… until Lettie surprised everyone by announcing she was expecting puppies too. Since then, she has been an amazing mama, raising a beautiful litter of babies who are quickly finding their forever homes. And now? It’s finally Lettie’s turn to shine. This gorgeous Lab/Husky mix is estimated to be between 1–3 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. She’s the total package: completely housebroken, smart, playful, affectionate, and full of personality. Lettie loves: • Playing with her dog friends • Hanging out with kids • Coexisting peacefully with cats • Toys, bones, and backyard adventures • Being near her people • Sleeping all night on her cozy blanket like the perfect house guest She’s happy entertaining herself when needed but is always ready to join in on family fun. She enjoys having free roam of the house and has excellent manners. She can be crated if necessary… although she may file a formal complaint about it. Lettie has spent months taking care of everyone else. Now she’s looking for a forever family that will love, spoil, and cherish her the way she deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a playful spirit and a heart of gold, Lettie may be your girl. For an application or additional information, please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org (Also yes… you are absolutely allowed to rename her. “Mama” was a temporary situation.) Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal test, deworming, current on flea and tick preventative, and microchip. To ensure the best match for both our dogs and adopters, we require a fully completed adoption application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with the entire household. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption and does not obligate you to adopt; it simply allows us to begin the review process. To request an application or for additional details, please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.

Story
Meet Moo — your very own “pet raccoon” lookalike with a heart full of love. Moo is a sweet 7-year-old girl from Tennessee weighing around 30 pounds. While her paperwork lists her as a Yorkie/Terrier mix, her foster family suspects there may be a little Corgi mixed in too. With her adorable fluffy tail and unique markings, she truly resembles a tiny raccoon in the cutest possible way. Moo came to Safe Haven after her mom in Tennessee, a dedicated shelter volunteer, became ill and could no longer care for her own dogs. Safe Haven is incredibly grateful to have been chosen to help find loving forever families for these deserving pups. Inside the home, Moo is an absolute dream companion. She is potty trained, crate trained, and very well-mannered. She’s perfectly content lounging in a cozy dog bed nearby, but she also enjoys coming over for pets, scratches, and quiet affection from her people. She walks nicely on a leash, though loud noises and unfamiliar people can still make her a little nervous. With patience and consistency, her confidence continues to grow every day. Moo does well with other dogs but appreciates having her own personal space. She may give a gentle warning growl if another dog gets too close while she’s eating or relaxing. She’s looking for a family that will respect her boundaries and continue helping her feel safe and secure. This adorable girl is also on a little wellness journey and could benefit from losing a few pounds. She does not require a fenced yard, but she should remain leashed outdoors since sudden sounds can still startle her. Every day, Moo opens up a little more, showing just how loving and loyal she can be. She’s ready to find a forever family where she can finally relax, feel secure, and enjoy the happy life she deserves. Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450.
