Story
Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description:  Zeus is a 1-2 year old male Husky, about 70 lbs, surrendered to us for being an escape artist and chasing livestock.  He is a striking boy with one blue and one gold eye.  Loves to go for rides.  Good with children and FEMALE dogs but NOT good with cats, chickens or livestock.  Zeus is like a naughty little boy who likes to instigate trouble so you will need to be able to stay 'ahead' of his antics and other dogs will have to be of a temperament to tolerate his antics.  Huskies can definitely be escape artists but we have to see he has given us no indication here in the Shelter - BUT we don't have livestock around to entice him.  Zeus will need a TALL FENCE (like 6') and large fenced yard as he prefers to be OUTSIDE.   DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. If we do not receive a timely response we simply move on to another applicant.   To learn more about us, visit our Website at: http://www.elmorehumane.org;  Phone: (334) 567-3377 Fax: (334) 567-8774 E-mail: hselco@bellsouth.net May 3, 2024, 5:01 pm

Her preference is to be outside so a well-fenced yard will be best for her. Story
Hellloooo! My name is Smoochie! You are looking at a frisky, funny, and fabulous two-year-old husky mix! Now you may be wondering why this adorable gal is sitting at the shelter homeless! As it turns out my original owner gave me away. After I escaped the new owner's yard, my owner was contacted but he said he didn't want me back. So I am putting my sweet self out there and hoping to find just the right person to adopt me. I have all of my vaccinations, I am heartworm negative, I have a microchip, and I have been spayed. Now there are two little things that you might need to know about me before considering me as a new family member. First I should be the only dog in the home. I want all of your attention and love and I won't share you with any other pet. Second I am what they call an "escape artist!" No fence is too tall for me! In fact they wonder if I don't have "wings" hidden in my fluffy coat so I can just fly over a fence! If you are an experienced husky owner, please come in to meet me. If you want the "joy" of having a silly, talkative, and entertaining companion, then you come in too!

Story
All of our dogs are housed in private homes, we do not have a store or a shelter.  We do not show dogs to interested parties until they have an approved adoption application.  If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.helpingshepherdsofeverycolor.com/adoption-application  You may also find us on facebook:  Helping Shepherds of Every Color Rescue. Token is a silly youngster who loves attention.  He gets along great with other dogs and he loves to play.  He looked like a German Shepherd puppy when we got him so imagine our surprise when a DNA test said he is mostly lab and Husky.  We don't care, we know he's 100% loveable and very handsome. Story
Quincy, (4) was adopted from the Elmore County Humane Society approximately two years ago by my sister. She has since had a stroke and can no longer care for him. He is an amazing dog, spent his first two years of life on a chain, was sent to the Elmore shelter and put up for adoption. He is amazing & deserves so much more than he has received. He has been well taken care of, he is non-destructive, loves the dog park and long walks. He does pull some, so needs some work in that area. He is so loving and gentle, housebroken, great with any size and any sex dogs, great with children, never jumps on you, just sits and looks at you with those beautiful Crystal blue eyes. Quincy, I promise, is a perfect dog and just seems to know what is expected without even trying. He does need a privacy fence, a soft bet inside to sleep on and a person or family willing to take him on walks and just spend quality time with him. He is a beautiful dog inside and out. He deserves the best!
