Story
Jake is a 10-month-old male Husky/Shepherd mix who will be neutered before adoption.  He was found as a stray out in the county and brought in by county animal control.  No owner came to reclaim him.  Handsome Jake has a brown coat with white markings; and he has quite a bit of black highlights spread throughout his coat.  He weighs 34 pounds; and is considered to be a medium size dog.  Jake is good with children and other dogs.  He is playful, fun loving, and a bit adventurous as he gets to know our staff and the other dogs at PAHS.  Everyone loves Jake!Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75.  All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter.  Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heart worm negative.  November 21, 2025, 3:17 pm

Story
Journey is a 4-year-old female Husky mix who has already been spayed.  She was found as a stray at Journey Church--hence the name--Journey.  Her owner never came looking for her. Journey has a black coat with tan markings; and she has one blue eye and one brown eye!  Her tail curls stylishly over her back!  She weighs 49 pounds; so she is a large dog.  She is energetic and active; and we recommend she be in a home with older children.  This playful dog is an attention hog and loves all the kindness being shown to her by staff and volunteers.  Journey is good with most dogs; but, if you have another dog we would suggest you bring your dog out for a meet and greet with her.  Journey is a trip--in a good way!Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Story
Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description:  Punkin is a six-year-old, female Siberian Husky, about 45 lbs, surrendered for being too active.  She loves squeeky toys and also loves destroying tennis balls.  Is good with cats once she knows them but since has a high prey drive towards small animals (squirrels and the like), lets just say no to cats for their sake. She is great with other dogs and good with older children (bit too much for the little ones).  Super sweet lady.   DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. Story
Hellloooooo! Ken here! I am a cute husky mix that was running around neighborhood recently! A kind “passerby” saw me and wanted to help! He put me in his car and brought me to the shelter. I waited my allotted time and I am now available for adoption. I have all of my vaccinations, I have a microchip, and I have been neutered. One little problem did show up on my health check up, I was heartworm positive, but the shelter had me start treatment right away and now I have completed all my treatments!!! I hope you will come to meet me! Be sure you have a secure yard for me! You know us huskies….we love to run!!

Story
Hello, my name is Stormy! I have had a rough time recently! I was found by a kind stranger along with my puppies! She took care of us for about a month while she looked for my owner. At last she decided to bring all of us in, so we could find new homes. My babies are up for adoption and so am I!! I am about eighteen months old. I have all of my vaccinations, I am heartworm negative, I have a microchip, and I have been spayed. This beautiful husky mix with big blue eyes would love to find my “forever” home before Christmas!! Do you think that might happen??

Story
Hellloooo! My name is Mason and I bet you can see in my picture that I am a handsome husky mix! I was found by a kind stranger when he saw me in his yard. He had never seen me before and decided to help me out. He brought me inside and then reported me to the shelter as a stray. Now here’s the really good part…..He kept me as a “Friendly Finder” and I stayed with him until my stray hold was over. I am now at the shelter hoping to find a new home! I am about two years old. I have all of my vaccinations, I am heartworm negative, I have a microchip, and I have been neutered. I want to give a big “shout out” to my kind “finder!” Thanks for letting me stay with you for a while! FYI….At the shelter they have discovered that I am not a big fan of cats! So if you have any felines at your house or even nearby, then I would not be a good fit for you!!
