Story
Hi, I’m Apollo! I was surrendered through no fault of my own when my owner could no longer care for me. I’m good with other dogs, kennel trained, partially house trained, and would be a great fit for an active family. I have no experience with cats or other small animals.I love to run and play and have lots of energy, so I need regular exercise and mental stimulation. I’d make an excellent running partner - I’ve gone on runs up to 15 miles! When I get excited, I can be a bit jumpy, and I’m not reliable off-leash.I enjoy tug, fetch, agility, water, and of course running. I’m very playful and can be vocal when I’m having fun. I previously lived with four other dogs, so I’m used to being part of a pack and would likely enjoy a canine companion.

Story
Hi there, I’m Ruby! I’m a soulful girl with a heart of gold and looks to match. I originally came from a reservation before landing here, and while I’m still figuring out the `big wide world,` I’m doing it with grace. I’ve got that gorgeous Husky/Shepherd mix look, and since I’m still under a year old, I’ve got a little more growing to do!I can be a bit shy when we first meet, but I promise the wait is worth it - once I warm up, my sweet side shines through. I’m already a pro on the leash and get along great with other dogs. I’m a little scared of cats, which actually means I might be able to live with a feline friend if we take the introduction slow. I’m looking for a patient human who will keep showing me the ropes and socializing me as I grow up!

Story
Nesta is looking for her forever home! Things we learned from her previous foster home: ✔She is incredibly smart and learns quickly ✔Knows: sit, no, come, down (to get her paws off counters) and leave it ✔Nesta is an active, strong walker and will do best with someone who can meet her exercise needs. ✔Crate training candidate ✔One of her standout traits is how well she sleeps through the night. She slept on our bed and remained calm and settled ✔On walks, she does need some continued work around cars, as she has a tendency to want to chase them. However, she showed great progress with consistent training. By Thursday morning, she was already improving with sitting and waiting as cars passed. ✔She had no accidents and would reliably whine at the door when she needed to go out ✔Nesta needs a confident owner above all else. Like many dogs, she feeds off the energy and reactions of the people around her. In a multi-person household, it’s important that everyone involved in her care approaches her with consistency and confidence, especially when it comes to training. Although we don’t have children, she was always curious and attentive when she saw kids on walks. Come meet me at High Country Humane, located at 11665 N. Highway 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. Our shelter is open Thursday–Tuesday, 11 am–5 pm, and closed on Wednesdays. Adopting with High Country Humane means your new pet is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped (we register it for free!). Each adoption also includes a free health exam. Please bring a leash and collar with you or plan to purchase them here.
