Story
Meet Max: Three Legs, One Big Heart ♥️Hi, I’m Max, a 5 year old, 53 lb Husky who’s living proof that you don’t need four legs to live your best life.My story starts in Lebanon, where I was found with gunshot wounds so severe my leg had to be amputated. I was alone, in pain, and had been through more than any dog should ever endure. An incredible team of animal rescuers found me, refused to give up on me, and fought hard to get me every bit of care I needed. That journey brought me all the way here, and I’ve never looked back.I lost one of my legs, but honestly? You’d barely know it. I hike, I explore, I roam and I do it all at an easy, unhurried pace that makes every outing feel like a good idea.My favorite thing in the world is a good sniff walk where I can take my time and smell absolutely everything.I’m independent and easygoing. I don’t require constant entertainment or attention. I’m happy just being with you, whether that’s trotting alongside you on a leisurely hike, joining you on a camping trip, or quietly hanging out beside you at home getting pets after a sniff walk. I do love the couch and a good fuzzy bed too. With people, I am pure sweetness. I love being petted, I’m treat-motivated (beef liver treats are one of my favorites!), and I’ll reward your patience with so much loyalty. With other dogs, I’m friendly and neutral. I’m not a rough player, but I’m open to making friends at my own pace. I do best with calm, neutral dogs who give me space to settle in. Younger dogs with good boundaries who can take cues from other dogs can also be a great match for me.I do best in a home with a yard where I can wander, sniff, and dig a little. It’s a husky thing. Apartment life may not be the best fit for me.With cats, I can do well with confident cats who are comfortable around dogs. I’m curious and playful rather than predatory with my foster’s cat. But a cat who holds their ground is the right match for me.A note about mealtimes — I like my food to be mine. A home where dogs are separated during mealtimes and food or resources aren’t left lying around is exactly the kind of setup where I thrive. Simple management. If you’re someone who enjoys having an independent soul dog, loves getting out in the outdoors, and wants a one-of-a-kind adventure buddy, I think we’d make a pretty great team.If you’d like to make me family, reach out to my rescue PawesomeBaby!——————————————-Max is currently being fostered by an amazing family in Seattle. ✨ NORTH’S STORY ✨Golden heart + wild soul + big puppy energy = me 🐾Hi, I’m North. I’m about a year old, maybe just a little under, and I’m still very much a puppy in the best possible way.I’m a total social butterfly. Sweet, curious bundle of joy. I check in with my human like, “Is this right? Am I doing good?” And when you tell me yes, I light up… and then I’m off exploring the world again.I’m working on putting on some healthy weight and filling out into the handsome husky I’m meant to be. Some people joke I might be part coyote. I’m not… but I do have that wild, soulful, striking look that makes people stop and stare. Here’s what you should know about me:✔ I’m very sweet and people oriented✔ I’m great with other dogs who are okay with an enthusiastic young pup✔ I take corrections beautifully✔ I have a heart of absolute gold✔ I’m eager to learn and to pleaseI do need basic training and structure, and we’re actively working on that. What I really need is a person who will keep guiding me with consistency, kindness, and clear boundaries. I’m looking for leadership and connection. When I find my person, I will bond deeply.I’m playful, affectionate, and full of potential. I’m neutered, healthy, and up to date on my vaccines. With the right home, I’m going to grow into an incredible, loyal companion. If you have room in your life for a young husky who’s ready to learn, love, and adventure by your side, I’m waiting. Please share me, foster me, adopt me, or reach out to learn more. My future is bright. I just need my person to find me. 🐾💛

Story
Meet Tasha Tasha is a young adult Husky mix, about two years old, with all the enthusiasm and charm her breed is known for. Huskies are typically active, bright, and social dogs who thrive in homes that can engage both their minds and bodies. Although she came to us as a stray and her background is a mystery, she's quickly shown her true colors. She's affectionate, playful, friendly, and very well socialized. She takes a little bit to warm up but once she does, she enjoys people, loves interacting with other dogs, and has the kind of warm, eager personality that makes her easy to bond with. Tasha in a Home Tasha had a few sleepovers with a volunteer and she was an absolute delight in the home. She is perfectly house-trained, with no indoor accidents and consistent, immediate pottying when taken outside. She showed no destructiveness, leaving all shoes and household items untouched. She was impressively quiet, with no barking or howling, even when other dogs were audible outside. In the car, Tasha was slightly hesitant at first but quickly gained confidence and rode well. Although understandably a bit energized due to her age and being in a new environment, she was well‑mannered and unobtrusive, resting voluntarily in her dog bed for most of the time. Training & Support Tasha generally listens very well and seems to pick up on direction quickly, which makes ongoing training both fun and rewarding. She does have a few energetic habits—like getting a bit mouthy and occasionally jumping up when she's excited—but these are very typical for a young, lively dog and respond well to consistent guidance. Ideal Home Tasha would flourish in a home that can provide structure, activity, and companionship. She would be especially happy living with another friendly, playful dog who can match her energy and help her burn off steam in a healthy way. A home where she gets plenty of daily exercise, whether that’s walks, hiking adventures, yard play, or enrichment games, will help her stay balanced and content. Because she’s young and enthusiastic, a home with adults or older children who understand playful, sometimes exuberant behavior would be ideal. With patience, consistency, and lots of affection, Tasha is ready to become a fun, devoted, and joyful addition to her future family. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ready to Apply? If you would like to meet Tasha, please download an application from our website at: vancouver.ca/adoption-form Then, email your complete application to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca If your application is approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes. She already knows "sit" and is learning to wait calmly for treats. With consistent training, she has the potential to learn many more commands and become a well-mannered companion. The Perfect Home for ElsaElsa will thrive in a home with:✔️ An active family who enjoys outdoor activities✔️ Someone committed to training and bonding with her✔️ Experience with large dogs (or a willingness to learn)Elsa is young and still learning, but she is full of potential. With love, patience, and the right training, she will grow into a loyal and devoted companion. If you’re looking for a smart, energetic, and affectionate dog to share adventures with, Elsa is waiting for you!

Story
Hi, I’m Rian 💛I’m a 5-year-old boy, a Malamute–Husky mix, and I weigh about 23kg.I know… I look big and strong, maybe even a little cool. But if you get to know me, you’ll see—I’m actually just a big softie.I really, really love people.Even if we’ve just met, I might come right up to you like,“Hi… can we be friends?”I love being close to my person.Spending time together, making eye contact, sharing quiet moments…that’s what makes me feel safe and happy.Once I open my heart, I become very affectionate.I’ll want to stay near you, lean into you, and just be by your side as much as I can.I get along well with other dogs too!I have a gentle nature and enjoy playing, whether it’s with toys or with friends.I’m a bright, cheerful boy who just enjoys life and companionship.I was rescued from a place where my time was almost over…but I didn’t lose my trust in people.I still believe in love, and I’m still reaching out for it.I’m also a pretty quick learner! If you teach me with patience and consistency, I’ll do my best to understand and follow along.Because of my Malamute and Husky side, I do have lots of energy.I’ll need regular walks, exercise, and time to really let that energy out.A quick walk won’t always be enough—I’d love a family who enjoys being active with me.I can also have a little independent streak (maybe just a tiny bit stubborn sometimes… 😊),so I’ll need someone who can guide me with calm, steady leadership.Living in a home might be new for me,so I’ll need to learn things like house routines and potty habits from the beginning. But if you’re patient with me, I know I can become an amazing companion.I’m already ready to love someone with my whole heart. All I need now…is someone who will accept me, guide me,and stay with me for life. Will you be my person? 💛

Story
Hi… I’m Duri 🤍 Before I met kind people, I spent a long time on my own… without care, without warmth. I just endured each day the best I could. But things have changed now. I’ve been given a chance to start over— and I’m waiting for a family to share that new beginning with. Maybe… that could be you. People say I look strong and handsome. My thick fur, my clear eyes… sometimes I remind them of a brown husky. But what I really want you to see isn’t just how I look— It’s who I am. I like people. I really do. I’ll come up to you first, gently, hoping to connect. I enjoy being close, sharing quiet moments, feeling like I belong. I also get along well with other dogs. Being around friends feels natural to me, and I’m comfortable sharing space and energy with them. Inside me, I carry something special— the calm loyalty of an Akita, and the intelligence and quick learning of a Jindo. That means when I bond with you… it won’t be shallow. It will be deep. Steady. Unbreakable. But I’m still learning. Living in a home is new to me. Things like potty training, daily routines, and how to behave indoors—these are things you’ll need to teach me, step by step. Because I’m a strong and active dog, I’ll also need guidance on walks and basic manners. I want to do well—I just need someone to show me how. In the beginning, I might seem a little unsure. A new place, a new life… it can feel overwhelming. But if you stay patient, consistent, and kind with me, I will find my balance. I’m not a difficult dog— but I am a dog who needs understanding. Someone who won’t just “have” me, but will truly live with me. Teach me. Connect with me. If you can do that… I promise you something rare. A bond built on trust. A loyalty that doesn’t fade. A companion who stands by you, no matter what. I’ve already come so far from where I started. Now I just need a place to finally belong. No more loneliness. Just warmth… and you. Will you be my forever family? 🤍
