Story
Palomo, born April 2023 is looking for a home. He is a husky mix and expected to grow to about 55 -60 lbs. His mum and littermates were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. Palomo was in the poorest health and would not have made it had the shelter not intervened. Unfortunately his shelter also recently was hit with a hurricane, so he'd really love a happy break with a real family to love him. Palomo is an energetic boy, who is house trained. His time in foster care has been with cats, which he is ok with unless they run, so he might be safest in a cat free home. He is also prone to chase other animals like farm chickens. Palomo is a chaser and is prone to want to chase cars and can be reactive to dogs on leash, but has been playful off leash with other dogs. Palomo would be best in a non urban area with lots of room to run. If you think you might be his happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. You can find our application here: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw” Palomo can fly to Vancouver in mid November, with tbd flight date options for Seattle, Calgary and Edmonton depending on where his magical family awaits.

Story
Beautiful husky girl Chiquita, born April 2023,is 50 lbs and is looking for a home. She was rescued as a young puppy with her littermates who were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. After she got refuge in the sanctuary, she lived through a hurricane which heavily damaged the shelter, and she had temporary refuge in a home that unfortunately had a landlord that didn't allow dogs.. but in that time, she learned what a home is and what it is meant to be loved. Chiquita is an energetic girl. She’d love a yard with some space to burn off some zoomies but was in a foster home in an apartment. She loves the beach. She s a fast learner and likes to cuddle with her humans. She has learned basic commands - sit, come, waits to eat her food. She isn't destructive in the home and did well in the car. She is selective with other dogs, and can be reactive, and would squabble with her siblings. Kids make her nervous so she'd prefer a quiet adult home where she can learn more about the world. Chiquita would be best in a home without cats as she shows high prey drive. She is now healthy and vaccinated. If you think you might be her happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. Chiquita is currently in Mexico but can fly to a Canadian home near you! If you'd like to go directly to our application, please find it here: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw Finding pets for you… Chiquita Chiquita

Story
Awwww Aspen, how do you not fall for those baby blues she has! Aspen came to us as a stray after a member of the public found her. Aspen was very sweet but a bit shy right from the start, she seems to be missing the crazy husky gene. This gal is a bit more on the mellow side but not knowing her background means its hard to tell what she is used to. Aspen has been a bit off with her eating here and we are working to put some weight on her. She seems to be more happy when she gets to be social with people and does present a bit shy until she gets to know you but that's getting better each day as she settles here. She seems fine with other dogs so far and is going on group walks well. Aspen may have been a backyard dog in a previous life, she seemed to be a bit sore, and lacking muscle tone when she first arrived. As we dont know our animals background its hard to tell, but we do know she is beautiful and ready to move into her forever home! Other Dogs: Well matched, males preferred Cats: Unknown Kids: Yes but older 15+ Apartment: Maybe Walks: Loves them! New People: Yes with caution, she may need to warm up! -------------------------------------------------------------------- At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. This ensures that both the new owner and the adoptable animal are well suited to each other. Adoption Fee $353 Includes: -Spay/Neuter -First set of shots -One vet visit -Microchip -Bag of food If you live in Vancouver, you will also need to buy a dog license. 🌟 Meet Heeah! 🌟 Hey, future family! I’m Heeah, a 5-year-old Husky/Jindo mix with a stunning tan and white coat. I might be 15 kg of fluff, but I’ve got a heart full of love and a playful spirit that’s ready to bring joy into your life! 🐾 My Story: I came to the shelter with another dog, wearing a bright orange collar that matched my sunny personality. Now, I’m searching for a forever home where I can share my affectionate nature and unique charm with a family who’ll appreciate all the love I have to give. 💛 Why I’m Special: • Affectionate & Friendly: I’m all about the cuddles! Whether you’re an old friend or a new face, I’m quick to warm up, rubbing against you and happily accepting all the pets. Once I’m comfortable, I’ll even roll over and show you my belly—who can resist that? 😄 • Playful Pooch: I love meeting new dogs and always approach with a friendly wag and a playful invitation. Just keep an eye out if there are toys or snacks involved—I might get a little protective. But don’t worry, I’m learning to share! 🐕 • Outdoor Enthusiast: I enjoy my time outside, whether it’s a brisk walk or a playful romp. I’ve got plenty of experience on the leash and follow along nicely without pulling. After a fun day, I’m happy to relax and enjoy some quiet time with you. 🌳 • Calm & Composed: I’m well-behaved in a kennel and prefer to keep my business outside. I’m also pretty quiet, only growling a bit when I need to protect what’s important—like you! 🛏️ • Pretty & Unique: With my mix of Husky and Jindo traits, I’ve got a look that’s as unique as my personality. I’m active and playful, with a friendly nature that makes me a great companion for anyone looking for a loyal friend. 🐶 Heeah’s Dream Home: I’m looking for a family who loves outdoor adventures as much as I do but also appreciates a calm and affectionate companion at the end of the day. I’d do well in a home where I can be active, meet new friends, and maybe even have a cozy spot to curl up in after a fun day. If you’re looking for a playful, loving dog who’s ready to fill your life with joy, I’m your girl! 🏡💕 Ready to make Heeah a part of your family? I can’t wait to meet you and start our journey together! Let’s make every day a new adventure filled with love, fun, and lots of belly rubs. 🐾 With Love, Heeah 🐕💛 For more videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIsLTtIpe3JxvFkvf6u_h-IpjpQ7u8SkL

Story
I bet the majority of us have always wanted a Steve in our life. And that Steve is most likely a super cool guy who you just want to be around because he emits goodness no matter the time of day. Steve the dog is no different than the Steve you know. He is a super cool guy, despite the past that should've been kinder to him. Steve is a loving, big soft fluff, who unlike many dogs of his breed, does not vocalize a lot. Steve is a smart, active, well-trained local dog that fell upon hard times and that resulted in a lot of fear and confusion. He was often tied with a short chain to a cinder block and left outside. The last time he had been outside for a walk was unknown. His world had become very very very small and Steve shut down. This naturally resulted in resource guarding and reactivity - which culminated in a bite when someone tried to remove food in a bowl from near him. The owners tried to surrender him to various groups but no one wanted him as a result of the bite and the only offer was euthanasia. Thankfully we at Mountainside gave Steve a chance to show us his true colors. We quickly saw that he was loving - but so scared and confused. Through months of training, exercise and monitored socialization, Steve has started to make friends and is becoming more himself as each day goes by. He has had the wonderful fortune of being in foster care and then being very loved by our boarding facility partners that have given him the incredible opportunity to meet new dogs and learn how to be a dog again. Steve is working hard on making progress through some of his issues and though he has come so far, he will need his person to continue to help him along his journey. At this time we think the best fit would be an adult only family that is home more often than not. He has lived with other dogs in the past but isn't ready for that yet. Steve is a stunning, kind boy who would be a perfect match for someone who is patient, and willing to put in the work to give him the best kind of life. At the end of the day, he's just Steve, a super cool guy, who deserves a super cool life.

Story
Hi there, I'm Sid! I'm here to tell you a little bit about myself in hopes of finding my perfect match through adoption or foster-to-adopt. Are you ready to embark on a whirlwind adventure with me? First things first, let me introduce myself. I'm not your ordinary husky – I'm a charismatic and quirky character bursting with personality and charm. With my playful antics and endearing quirks, I guarantee I'll keep you entertained and laughing with my dramatic husky antics. One of my favorite things in the world is making new friends, both human and furry. I'm a social butterfly who gets along famously with well-matched dogs, and I'm currently living harmoniously with Angela, another one of our adoptable pups. We make quite the dynamic duo, if I do say so myself! When it comes to outdoor adventures, count me in! I'm not just a hilarious companion, but also an ideal outdoor partner. I love joining in on any adventure and I'm particularly fond of the water – whether it's a pool, lake, or ocean, you can bet I'll be making a splash! Now, let's talk about the nitty-gritty stuff. Collar sensitivity and resource guarding? Non-issues for me! I'm more than happy to share my toys and space with both humans and furry friends alike. But here's where I could use some support. My boundless energy and spirited nature mean I thrive in an environment that can keep up with my need for both mental stimulation and physical exercise. While I'm a lover of all things big and boisterous, I'm not the best match for small dogs or animals due to my prey drive. That's why I'll need a home that can provide me with undivided attention and doesn't have any small pets. An experienced owner who can help me refine my manners, including leash training, curbing marking behaviors, and mastering basic commands like sit, stay, and come, would be just what I need to thrive. So, if you're ready to welcome a lovable husky like me into your heart and home, then look no further! Contact us today to learn more about how you can make me a cherished member of your family. Don't miss out on the chance to embark on this adventure with me – I promise it'll be one for the books!

Introducing Penny and Pepper, the dynamic duo still seeking their forever home or foster-to-adopt family! 🐾 Positives: Penny and Pepper are an irresistible pair of Siberian Huskies, overflowing with charm and energy. Their infectious enthusiasm for life is matched only by their boundless affection for humans. With their playful antics and loving nature, they'll quickly steal your heart. Pepper, the sociable pup, has a knack for making friends with other dogs, while both Penny and Pepper adore spending time outdoors, exploring and soaking up the sunshine. Their ideal home would be one with a fenced yard, where they can romp and play to their heart's content alongside a family that shares their love for outdoor adventures and an active lifestyle. Plus, having two furry companions means double the fun and endless entertainment! Things they need support on: While Penny and Pepper thrive on love and activity, they also require a patient and understanding home that can provide them with the time and space to decompress and adjust. Basic training and structure are essential for their well-being, and they'll benefit greatly from mental stimulation to keep their clever minds engaged. It's important to note that Penny has a preference for being the only canine in the household, so a home where they can be the sole focus of attention is ideal. If you're ready to welcome this delightful duo into your home, get ready for a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable adventures! Don't miss out on the chance to make Penny and Pepper a part of your family. Contact us today to learn more about how you can open your heart and home to these two lovable Huskies.
