Sitka is full of zoomies, leaps, and joyful jumps, and he's always ready for his next adventure. He's looking for an active home that can keep both his body and mind engaged with regular exercise, enrichment, and plenty of opportunities to explore. As we're still learning about him, Sitka has not yet been tested with other dogs, so slow, thoughtful introductions to any resident pets are recommended. ARLO 2-Year-Old Alaskan Husky/Pit Bull Mix who is FULLY DEAF. Arlo is a friendly, active, cuddly, and playful boy who doesn't let being deaf slow him down one bit. At around 2 years old, this handsome Alaskan Husky/Pit Bull mix has learned to communicate through hand signals and already understands several signs. While we're not sure exactly how many commands he knows, it's clear that Arlo is a smart dog who has had training and enjoys working with his people. Arlo enjoys the company of both men and women, though he tends to bond more quickly with women. He does well with children and other dogs, making him a wonderful companion for many different types of families. Cats are not a good fit for Arlo, and his behavior around livestock and fowl is unknown. This adventurous boy loves hikes, swimming, and trips to the beach. Meet Strider💙 — the handsome adventure buddy with the best mismatched eyes. Strider is a 7-year-young neutered male with a sweet, playful personality and a truly unforgettable look — he has one blue eye and one brown eye. He’s the kind of dog who will happily join you for a walk, romp around the yard, and then come inside to hang out and be your shadow. Strider is moderate energy: he loves walks, but he’s also totally happy to relax at home and play with you inside. While he’d love a yard to zoom around in, he would also likely do just fine in an apartment as long as he gets daily exercise and enrichment. ✅ Good with other dogs 🚫 Probably not good with cats (he is VERY interested in them) ✅ Great with visitors — he may give a couple soft “boofs,” then settles right in Strider enjoys toys (especially rubber balls) and one of his favorite hobbies is… enthusiastically destroying rubber toys. Welcome Kody! Kody is a beautiful and well built black & white Siberian husky with an estimated birthday of 08/05/2023. He came to Murci's Mission from SCRAPS. Kody's life has been a game of chance where he just keeps coming up short. Before arriving to SCRAPS, he was found tied to a fence on a 96° day, which was later determined to have occurred due to his owner being evicted from her house. Once at animal control, he was able to be cooled down and recover, but he became extremely overwhelmed and shut down. He spent his time hiding in the back of his kennel and avoiding being touched an interacted with. When Murci's Mission conducted our walk through at animal control to help make kennel space for incoming Spokane Complex strays, we arrived shortly after another local animal shelter had already removed all of the dogs that they felt they could successfully work with, and all that was left were a few dogs hiding in the backs of kennels, one of which was Kody. He was aloof, avoidant, dirty, and terrified, but what choice was there? No one had any evidence of who he was prior to all the traumatic events that had come to pass, so we said yes. Since exiting the shelter, Kody has done a near 180° change in perspective. He nas a naturally aloof and cautios personality, but he is acting like a perfectly normal dog enjoying life. He is good on lead, crate trained, hasn't had toilet accidents, and has acted well towards dogs and cats. He was a gentleman for his grooming appointment too. Kody would do fine with children old enough to read him and give him space, but would not appreciate screaming toddlers or children small enough to be tripping and falling over him. You know your children best, so be realistic and only apply if your kids fit the bill. Kody will require continued structure and support, and he will never have the personality of a golden retriever, but he will be an active participant in his own recovery and he will appreciate a safe and consistent space with no more abandonment and fear. Kody comes neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. His adoption fee is $200 and includes a leash, collar, ID tag, food sample, medical records, and a complimentary consultation with a behaviorist. This is probably one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to write. After 7 beautiful years together, we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to find a new home for our family dog. This is not a decision we’re making because we don’t love her — honestly, that’s what makes this so incredibly painful. She has been such a huge part of our family and has given us 7 years of love, memories, cuddles, and companionship. She has been there through so many chapters of our lives, and saying goodbye feels like saying goodbye to a piece of our family. But with our new baby, everything has changed. Our time, attention, energy, and ability to give her the life and attention she deserves are no longer what they used to be. And as much as it breaks our hearts, we have to put his happiness and quality of life first. We want to find her a home where she can be loved, spoiled, and given the attention she deserves.
