Story

Maggie is a very sweet, funny, but timid girl. In my recent divorce, I have been forced to join the workforce, outside of the home. She hasn’t adjusted to being home so much alone. She needs a home with a mom/dad who is able to be home more with her. She is 7, and has a knee injury we are currently dealing with. A torn CCL. She needs a home where she is monitored so she can get the rest she needs to get her knee stabilized 100 percent. She is a very good girl, but needs a lot more attention currently than I can give her. Takes her a little to warm up to people, she is abit skiddish. But once she does, she will be your best friend in the world. I’m only trying to rehome her because life has thrown some major curveballs my way, and I don’t feel like I can offer Maggie the best life she deserves for her personality.

Cody has been so wonderful to our family. We got him when he was a few months the old and came from an abusive home. We worked through a lot of trust issues and insecurity. Unfortunately we had a house fire and have been moved around for the last year and have now had to move into an apartment. He is currently staying with a friend which is a very short term solution. Cody needs a home where he can run and patrol but also be secure. He is very intelligent and will watch what you are doing. He is an outdoor dog. We used to be able to bring him inside to visit with us and he would sleep in our room and then he would be outside in his kennel when we were gone. But since the fire he has been an outside dog. Due to not have secure backyards he has had to be kenneled or on a lead. He loves going for walks and dog great on a leash. He is so gentle and sweet to children and once he knows you are not a threat he just rolls over for belly rubs.

Welcome Kody! Kody is a beautiful and well built black & white Siberian husky with an estimated birthday of 08/05/2023. He came to Murci's Mission from SCRAPS. Kody's life has been a game of chance where he just keeps coming up short. Before arriving to SCRAPS, he was found tied to a fence on a 96° day, which was later determined to have occurred due to his owner being evicted from her house. Once at animal control, he was able to be cooled down and recover, but he became extremely overwhelmed and shut down. He spent his time hiding in the back of his kennel and avoiding being touched an interacted with. When Murci's Mission conducted our walk through at animal control to help make kennel space for incoming Spokane Complex strays, we arrived shortly after another local animal shelter had already removed all of the dogs that they felt they could successfully work with, and all that was left were a few dogs hiding in the backs of kennels, one of which was Kody. He was aloof, avoidant, dirty, and terrified, but what choice was there? No one had any evidence of who he was prior to all the traumatic events that had come to pass, so we said yes. Since exiting the shelter, Kody has done a near 180° change in perspective. He nas a naturally aloof and cautios personality, but he is acting like a perfectly normal dog enjoying life. He is good on lead, crate trained, hasn't had toilet accidents, and has acted well towards dogs and cats. He was a gentleman for his grooming appointment too. Kody would do fine with children old enough to read him and give him space, but would not appreciate screaming toddlers or children small enough to be tripping and falling over him. You know your children best, so be realistic and only apply if your kids fit the bill. Kody will require continued structure and support, and he will never have the personality of a golden retriever, but he will be an active participant in his own recovery and he will appreciate a safe and consistent space with no more abandonment and fear. Kody comes neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. His adoption fee is $200 and includes a leash, collar, ID tag, food sample, medical records, and a complimentary consultation with a behaviorist. Meet Strider💙 — the handsome adventure buddy with the best mismatched eyes. Strider is a 7-year-young neutered male with a sweet, playful personality and a truly unforgettable look — he has one blue eye and one brown eye. He’s the kind of dog who will happily join you for a walk, romp around the yard, and then come inside to hang out and be your shadow. Strider is moderate energy: he loves walks, but he’s also totally happy to relax at home and play with you inside. While he’d love a yard to zoom around in, he would also likely do just fine in an apartment as long as he gets daily exercise and enrichment. ✅ Good with other dogs 🚫 Probably not good with cats (he is VERY interested in them) ✅ Great with visitors — he may give a couple soft “boofs,” then settles right in Strider enjoys toys (especially rubber balls) and one of his favorite hobbies is… enthusiastically destroying rubber toys. If you like buying toys and watching your dog have the time of his life? Strider is your guy. He is also neutered and fully vaccinated. Strider seemed got studded with the sudden move bit the person’s face, leaving two punctures. The incident was quick — he released immediately and did not attempt to bite again. Because of this, Strider needs: A home with no children Adults who understand dog body language A home that will be cautious when Strider is grooming himself, sleeping, or chewing bones/toys Strider is not a “bad dog” — he’s a dog who needs the right environment and humans who will respect his boundaries so he can feel safe and successful.
