Story
Hook is a big-hearted, affectionate boy who loves being close to his people. He leans his whole body into you when he wants attention, absolutely loves belly rubs, and is happiest when he has a soft, squeaky plush toy to carry around. He also enjoys playing fetch and tug-of-war and knows basic cues like sit and lay down. Hook is a smart, sensitive dog who finds the shelter environment overwhelming, so he’s currently on medication to help with kennel stress. Hook’s ideal home is a calm, structured environment where he can decompress, settle into a routine, and show his true personality. He will thrive with a confident, consistent, and experienced dog owner who enjoys building a bond through training and giving him clear guidance. In a previous home, Hook reportedly did better with men than women, and he will need a home without small children. He will benefit from continued work on leash manners and does best walking in a harness. He is good with cats. We have not yet tested him directly with other dogs. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who just needs the right environment to truly shine, Hook might be the one for you.

Story
Meet Bishop — the treat-powered, toy-obsessed introvert of your dreams. This socially awkward king prefers to do his own thing, thank you very much, and he’ll happily keep himself occupied like he has a full-time job (which, honestly, he kind of does). Give him a toy stash and a snack supply and he’s basically living his best life. Bishop isn’t the type to rush into social situations — he’s more of a “observe from a safe distance and pretend I’m invisible” kind of guy. But don’t let his odd vibe fool you. This dude is hilarious in the most unexpected ways, especially when he thinks no one is watching. Whether he’s quietly entertaining himself, trotting around with his favorite toy, or giving you those “got any treats?” eyes, he’s a whole personality.

Story
All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Barkley is a 6-year-old Siberian Husky mix weighing about 60 pounds, and he is the definition of a polite gentleman. This handsome guy is both house-trained and crate-trained. At night, he sleeps in his crate with the door open in his foster parents’ bedroom, he just likes having his own cozy space nearby. Barkley is a chill, easygoing companion who enjoys the simple things in life. He’s happiest hanging around the house, taking car rides, enjoying brief walks (he walks very nicely on leash!), playing with toys, and of course, squeezing in a good nap or two. He has a calm presence and would fit beautifully into a home looking for a steady, relaxed best friend. He’s a smart cookie, too! Barkley already knows “Sit,” “Lay Down,” and “Shake.” He’s friendly, confident, adaptable, happy, playful, and quiet, the total package. His foster mom says he’s the most polite gentleman and that he gently paws you when he’d like a little attention. It’s impossible not to fall in love with that sweet gesture. Barkley hasn’t been exposed to kids, dogs, or cats in our care, but he ignores other dogs while out on walks. With his easygoing personality and great manners, he’s ready to settle into a loving home and be someone’s all-around perfect boy. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
