Story
Smoky Linx's estimated DOB is 11/20/2019 and he's a brown and white Husky. This poor dog was found by police, and had a rough start at the haven, but he is doing great now and happy. Though he acts pretty standoffish in his pen, when he's slowly and properly introduced to new people he turns into a big cuddly lovebug. Now he needs a forever home. Smoky Linx got to spend some time in a foster home recently and his foster family loved him! Here's what they had to say: "Smoky is just so darn perfect, aside from a couple quirks. He's fully house trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. He's protective and intuitive and can read "his" people incredibly well, asking for hugs by gently putting his front paws on your chest. He got along with our cats, to a degree. Unfortunately we left our big male cat alone with him briefly and the cat attacked him, so he was pretty traumatized by that and steered clear of all of our cats after that. He barked loudly at them when they'd get too close to his crate or start drinking his water, so we definitely think he was resource guarding and will need his own space. We think he'll have no problem with more tolerant cats and a slow introduction. He seems to love every single dog he meets but will likely still need his own little space in a home shared with other dogs. Smoky's only real downfall is that he takes a long time to get used to people. We had him crated when new people came over, and he'd bark pretty aggressively at them as they came and went. He honestly doesn't seem to be super comfortable with being inside a house, he really shines his brightest when he's outdoors. We took him to Roaring River and he acted like a whole different dog, totally ignoring strangers, sniffing other dogs, tail wagging, hopping and rolling around and even swimming! We think that Smoky's ideal forever home will be someone who has a big yard with at least a four-foot fence, and preferably a doggie door. Someone who won't make him meet too many visitors, but will take him hiking in parks, and will let him have his own space. Preferably his forever home would come and hang out with him at the shelter a few times, getting him used to them before he comes home. We also recommend muzzle training, less to protect people from him and more to protect him from people. We love Smoky dearly, and we think he's an amazing dog!" All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. *ADOPTION FEE ENTIRELY SPONSORED*Holiday Q&AQ: How long has Holiday been looking for a home? A: Since March 31st, 2023--right now that's over 455 days! Q: Is Holiday friendly?A: Holiday LOVES meeting new people of all ages! Due to her length of stay, she is finding it harder to meet new dogs, although she does really well with her playgroup-mate, Romie! Q: How big is Holiday?A: She's only about 50 lbs, but it is all muscle! Q: Does Holiday struggle with any behaviors?A: Holiday is what we consider "same-sex aggressive" -- we have not had success in the shelter environment introducing her to other females. This could be exacerbated by a high stress and busy environment like the kennel's, or it could just be inherent. She'd also benefit from some brushing up on her leash skills. Q: What are Holiday's favorite activities?A: Zoomies, playing fetch, working for food, going on runs, playing in the pool, playing with her best doggie friends, cuddles, and games of chase with humans! Q: Exemplary traits Holiday possesses? A: I have watched Holiday play for hours with a 3 year old child--she was so tolerant and gentle, allowing the child to stumble over her, put hands inside her mouth, take toys from her, and throw them. From a dog with such intense bursts of energy and physical strength, it was very surprising and pleasant to observe! Q: What is Holiday's energy level like?A: Holiday exits the gate hot--her zoomies are fast, furious, and frenetic! We understand that she can appear overwhelming. However, she tires out very fast and is more than content to just sit and play with her toy once she's exhausted herself--about 15 minutes or under, especially in the summer. Q: What would be Holiday's ideal home placement? A: Holiday would do well in an active home. She has done a great job with every person she has ever met, all the way from a 3month old infant to clumsy toddlers to rowdy teenagers to older adults--we think she would love a home with kids. No other female dogs; however, she has proven that she will get along perfectly with many males! As long as her short bursts of energy are given an outlet, she should be a breeze. Q: Why is Holiday still at the shelter?A: While people have shown some interest in her, they are usually intimidated by her strength and speed. We wish people would give her some grace and allow her to calm down-- being in this shelter environment means that 23 out of 24 hours, she is locked inside with nothing to do besides listen to the other dogs bark, sleep, or chew on her Nylabone--now compound that by 455+ days STRAIGHT without any kind of break. Her energy explodes out loudly, but with a proper outlet, we think that she would be easy and pleasant to have around and do very well in a loving and patient home.

Story
Meeka was an owner surrender who came to our care when her previous owner (battling stage IV cancer) could no longer care for her. Meeka is an active, healthy, freshly 2 years old German Shepherd/Husky mix with bright blue eyes. Described as active and energetic, Meeka is also super affectionate. She is housebroken and crate trained and great with other dogs, big or small. Her favorite games are playing fetch with/catching balls, chasing her doggy and human friends, and playing in the water. She LOVES splashing in our kiddy pools, and she is obsessed with the hose even more! Her first owner said that she travels well. She is smart with a large capacity for learning and eager to train with you!

Story
Full blood, registered Husky fixed male. High energy, high intelligence, very sweet. Needs a job. Knows "Sit", "Crate", and "No". Non aggressive toward children, In fact he loves kiddos, but can hurt them during playing due to high energy levels. Not good with cats due to his need to chase and run. Has never been openly aggressive with cats, but sees them as living toys. We don't have any other dogs, so I dont know how he will react. Any "behavior issues" he has is that he is a husky, he is 100% all Husky! He quieter than most I've seen, but he is still a Husky. Highly food motivated, you can teach him most anything with a hotdog. If he acts like he can't do something, it's more likely he is ignoring you. Trust me, he is super smart and can learn just about anything....when he wants to. If you are high energy, looking for an adventure buddy, he is the dog for you.
