Story
Smoky Linx's estimated DOB is 11/20/2019 and he's a brown and white Husky. This poor dog was found by police, and had a rough start at the haven, but he is doing great now and happy. Though he acts pretty standoffish in his pen, when he's slowly and properly introduced to new people he turns into a big cuddly lovebug. He's fully house trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. He's protective and intuitive and can read people incredibly well. He gets along with cats, to a degree. Smoky's only real downfall is that he takes a long time to get used to people. He honestly doesn't seem to be super comfortable with being inside a house, he really shines his brightest when he's outdoors. While on a trip to Roaring River he acted like a whole different dog, totally ignoring strangers, sniffing other dogs, tail wagging, hopping and rolling around and even swimming! We think that Smoky's ideal forever home will be someone who has a big yard with at least a four-foot fence, and preferably a doggie door. Someone who won't make him meet too many visitors, but will take him hiking in parks, and will let him have his own space while being the only dog in the home. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. Story
Buck is a 1-year-old Husky mix who came from a very overcrowded home with over 35 dogs. Despite that tough start, he has turned into a happy, loving, and incredibly sweet boy who is just excited to experience life and be part of a family. This handsome guy is dog friendly, great with kids, crate trained, walks well on a leash, fully vetted and ready to go, not good with cats. Buck has such a joyful, playful personality — he’s the kind of dog that will keep you smiling and bring so much life into your home. Whether it’s going for walks, playing, or just hanging out, he’s happiest being part of the action. After where he came from, Buck deserves a home where he can finally get the love, attention, and one-on-one time he’s been missing. And we promise… whoever adopts him is going to feel like they hit the jackpot.

Story
DOB: 8/18/2023. Personality:  Luna is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves her people and wants to be right by their side. Shelter life has been tough for her because she craves human companionship. Luna is smart, loyal, and would do best in an active home with plenty of attention, exercise, and structure. She does well with other dogs and kids and is a true Velcro pup who bonds closely with her humans. Luna will need a cat-free and chicken free home as she has a VERY high prey drive.

Story
Meet Serene, a sweet and friendly Husky mix with a playful spirit and a gentle heart. At 3 to 5 years old, she strikes the perfect balance between independence and affection. Serene enjoys her own space but equally loves a good cuddle session. Her goofy antics will keep you entertained and smiling. Whether you're seeking a companion for quiet evenings or a playful friend for outdoor adventures, Serene is ready to bring joy into your life. Adopt Serene and experience the perfect blend of tranquility and playfulness in your forever friend. I’m not a fan of cats, so I would prefer to live in a home without any. - TJ Dogs are usually tested with other dogs their size, and we encourage meet-and-greets with your dog before adoption. Cat tests are available if requested, but they only check for clear aggression. Always be careful when introducing dogs to cats. Advice about dogs living with children is based on behavior like energy level and how the dog handles touch. Young children should never be left alone with dogs, and we cannot guarantee how any dog will behave with kids or other pets. Behavior seen in the shelter is just a snapshot and may change in a home. Dogs come from many backgrounds and may need training, time, and patience. Dogs should not be fed together unless you know they do not guard food. We also suggest learning about a dog's breed or mix to be sure it fits your family. Moving to a new home can be stressful for dogs. Use the Rule of 3 to help them adjust: First 3 days: Dogs may feel scared, tired, overexcited, or not want to eat. First 3 weeks: Dogs start learning routines and may show new behaviors. Keep things calm and avoid busy places. First 3 months: Dogs usually feel settled and more comfortable.
