Smoky Linx's estimated DOB is 11/20/2019 and he's a brown and white Husky. This poor dog was found by police, and had a rough start at the haven, but he is doing great now and happy. Though he acts pretty standoffish in his pen, when he's slowly and properly introduced to new people he turns into a big cuddly lovebug. He's fully house trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. He's protective and intuitive and can read people incredibly well. He gets along with cats, to a degree. Smoky's only real downfall is that he takes a long time to get used to people. He honestly doesn't seem to be super comfortable with being inside a house, he really shines his brightest when he's outdoors. While on a trip to Roaring River he acted like a whole different dog, totally ignoring strangers, sniffing other dogs, tail wagging, hopping and rolling around and even swimming! We think that Smoky's ideal forever home will be someone who has a big yard with at least a four-foot fence, and preferably a doggie door. Someone who won't make him meet too many visitors, but will take him hiking in parks, and will let him have his own space while being the only dog in the home. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. Meet Cocaina! Cocaina is a white Huskey/Mix. She was born on 08/09/2022. Cocaina is good with kids, Loves water, and loves to go on walks. While she likes most dogs we would recommend a meet and greet with potential fur siblings. This sweet girl is an high energy player, she gets along well with kids but we'd recommend kids 5 and older with her. We don't think she would do well in a home with cats. Champ is a 3 year old, 60 lb Husky/Shar-Pei mix who was surrendered here when his owner was no longer able to afford his care. Champ has lived with cats, kids, and other dogs. He is friendly with all humans too! He is a low-maintenance, low-energy boy who still has a silly side. Of course he enjoys going out to play with his doggy or human pals, but he is not possessed by a compulsive need to run for hours. He's done well interacting with dogs of all varieties here thus far. He has a special preference for small dogs and puppies, but he's been getting braver and has found a best friend in similarly-sized Shepherd mix Scarlotte. As office dog, he is mannerly and cute! He's not the quietest dog, having the classic Husky trait of creating a variety of never-before-heard sounds. He makes sure to keep you laughing - he loves to roll around on the couch, rooting around as he flops and twists. He bows deep in play, sneaking in a stretch as he pads over to pick up a crinkly toy that might catch his interest. Due to years of untreated allergies and ear infections, Champ has been on a few months of medication to treat his painful ears. Because of the length of time that it went untreated, his ears are more likely to get infections, so he does require some maintenance cleaning and ear drops a few times a week. Our sweet boy is a little sensitive too, and his allergies require daily medication. However, we think it's a small price to pay to have the sweetest dog in the world in your home.Because of his sensitive ears, Champ, although tolerant towards toddlers, seems to prefer the company of children slightly older that have gentler hands and are more respectful of his space. Champ would love the chance to meet you! It breaks our hearts to see this mild-manner, easy-going, frankly adorable boy languish away in his kennel. The sooner we can jailbreak him the better! Come meet Zeno!! This boy loves to run and play! When he's not roaming the yard he loves getting head scratches. He is here because his hips did not pass the OFA requirements so his professional breeder did not want that passed on in his pups so she opted to take him out of her breeding program and give him an early retirement otherwise he is perfect in every way. He is super sweet, lovable, and just plain gorgeous with his chocolate hair and them beautiful blue eyes.
