Story
Meet TUCKER! This handsome guy is one of our Texas 10—a group of pups rescued from life on the Texas streets and in a scrapyard. Tucker has come such a long way since those tough beginnings and is now blossoming into a sweet, loyal companion ready for his forever family. Now a little over 1 year old and about 65 lbs, Tucker is thriving in his foster home in upstate NY! He loves hiking, swimming, and soaking up every season—rain, snow, sunshine, or leaves, he’s your go-to adventure buddy. &#239&#184&#143 Here’s what makes Tucker special:  &#226&#156&#133 Dog-friendly (would love a buddy or be happy solo) &#226&#156&#133 Crate- and house-trained &#226&#156&#133 Loves the outdoors—especially water! &#226&#156&#133 Thrives in a calm, quiet home (no small kiddos, please) &#226&#156&#133 Learning to trust new people with time and patience &#226&#156&#133 Recently introduced to cats—and doing great! Tucker is searching for a loving forever home to help him keep building confidence and continue his journey toward the good life he truly deserves. Rocky is doing well settling into his upstate NY foster home. Coming to us from the Texas scrapyard family. Rocky is a custom Texas street dog mix - not really sure exactly but mom is a Huskymix that we do know! He would definitely do well with an home with another dog as he loves other dogs. He is around 5months old, great with kids too and loves the resident kiddo! He is learning all his puppy 101 and doing great. Story
Looking for a sweet girl who is the perfect mix of active and chill - look no further than Roxie!  We aren't always pitties - Roxie had her doggie DNA test done where we learned she was 37% husky (plus alot of other breeds!). Roxie came to us last year with her pups after living ont he streets of Dallas, Texas.  This sweet girl is currently with an upstate NY foster family, is around 4 1/2 years old, spayed, vetted and ready to go.  Roxie is an overall happy dog who loves to play, she is good with other dogs and kids, but needs a kitty free home.  She knows her basics and is a real smarty pants! Story
Meet 3-year-old Riley, a Husky/Boxer mix awaiting a forever home. She is a super playful girl who would make a good companion for just about any active home. Riley will settle down after having time to burn off her energy, but she needs the space to be her energetic self. If you would like more information on this sweet girl, reach out to the shelter staff. She would love to meet you!.....Notes from one of our volunteers after spending time with Riley:DOG DATE THURSDAY. Today's date was with the busy social butterfly Miss Riley. Riley is a husky mix with beautiful blue and brown eyes and a silky soft coat. She is approximately 3 years of age and was brought to the shelter by her owner, who has health conditions that made it impossible for him to give Riley all she needs. It was an ultimate act of love. Riley and I spent the day at various parks and visited Home Central in Owego. She loved meeting people and was a fun dog to spend my day with. Riley knows sit and down, and with a harness, she was very decent walking on leash. She does have a bounce in her step and will jump to greet people, but she seemed to respond well to the correction of OFF. Riley can be found now hanging out with her staff at Stray Haven in Waverly, NY. You don't need an appointment to visit during their open hours of Tuesday-Friday 10-5, and Saturday and Sunday 10-4. .....Stray Haven194 Shepard RoadWaverly, New York 14892.....Hours:Tuesday-Friday 10-5Saturday & Sunday 10-4No appointment needed!Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA194 Shepard Rd., Waverly, NY 14892(607) 565-2859, www.strayhavenspca.org Open hours:Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pmSaturday-Sunday 10am-4pmClosed on Mondays

Story
I’m Charley! You know they say every dog has a story—and mine? It started rough. I was skinny, scared, and had mange. But with some love, good meals, and time to heal, I’ve grown into a strong, happy boy with a nose for adventure and a heart that’s finally learning how to trust. I’m house trained, polite indoors, and I get along great with female dogs, they just seem to get me. When it comes to humans, I can be a little shy at first (I know you’ll understand that), but once I know I’m safe, I’m all in—tail wags, zoomies, the whole deal. Life’s too short not to chase the wind, right? Whether it's hitting the trails, splashing through a creek, or just soaking up the sun, I’m always ready for an adventure. All I need now is a home and someone to keep exploring with. Are you in?
