Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)         This is Ozzy. A friend of a friend is trying to rehome this guy due to unfortunate life circumstances. He is 3 years old, fixed with all shots up to date. He is deaf from birth, but understands hand gestures. He loves to play and “work” with humans. He is also very friendly with other dogs (not sure about cats). He has separation anxiety, so he would need a home with either other dogs, or experienced dog owners, patient and loving, to give him sense of security.  No households with young children, since due to his deafness, he may react to sudden, unexpected or rough touch     All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. She didn’t react strongly to them so I think she will be okay with cats . Age: 3-4 years old. Breed: Husky (according to the vet clinic who rescued her). Health Status: 3-legged (healthy, vaccinated, and microchipped). Background: Ghost was rescued in Riyadh, Saudi in 2022 with a severe injury in her arm that required immediate amputation. The rescuer (a client in the clinic) asked them to perform the operation and she will pay them later, so they did. Only for her to never answer their calls or pay any amount. The clinic kept her which is admirable however they NEVER did any effort to find an adopter. She stayed in the clinic for a year+ in a small cage without them making a single post about her. I go to the clinic frequently to help them find homes for the abandoned cats and every time I ask about the dogs, they tell me they don’t have any. I don’t understand their reasoning, but they finally told me about ghost in October 2023. They said it’s complicated and the rescuer should have taken her.   Personality: She is very friendly and energetic! She loves loves attention and her favorite thing in the whole universe is walks. She is super smart and well behaved but would need more training and guidance. She recognizes instructions but doesn’t always follow. I think it’s because she is caged and bored so when they ask her to go back, she refuses. They sadly don’t walk her a lot. She is good with other dogs, and I think she will be a fit with cats as well. When she passes to the cats area, she never barks at them she just passes quietly          All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social. Story
Star is fostered in CA. Star is great with dogs, but having energy can play excitedly and may not be a fit for puppies or elderly dogs. Star is a gorgeous girl with brains and energy to match! She might be blind, but that doesn’t slow her down at all. She navigates just fine and all the important things (food, sniffy walks, petting) don’t require sight. Star also had a couple of seizures, which the vet is calling idiopathic epilepsy since no other cause was found in testing, so she takes Keppra and that has prevented any more episodes. She has already learned a lot of words, including: focus, sit, step, and walking. Given her puppy energy level, she would love to be in a home with another dog her size or bigger and no small children or cats. Star *loves* meeting new people and dogs, exploring her environment, eating, walking, and snoozing in her crate or in the car. She is still learning to be the best dog, but she is a quick study. She needs a family experienced with Huskies or similar breeds who are willing to continue her education. If you are active and ready for an energetic beauty, contact us to learn more about Star! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Pepper came into our care after originally being found as an injured stray in TX. She had severe skin issues when she was found but has healed up beautifully and is moving on with her life! She is currently in a foster home with other dogs and cats. Pepper would like to get adopted with another dog in the home to play with. She is slightly timid, so little kids may be too much for her, but super sweet and loving. An adopter with husky experience would be ideal! Pepper is mostly house-trained and crate trained. Give us a call for more information!
