Story
Alisha is a very sweet and happy girl. She lives well with 3 other dogs in her foster home of various sizes (from tiny to her same size). She is totally crate trained but has behaved so well with her foster that she is now allowed free roam. She loves treats and food; she listens well to verbal guidance in her foster home. She likes a good ole belly rub. Alisha is the most content napping in the home. She appears to be potty trained and happily pops back into the house to continue her napping. Alisha tested positive for heartworm when she came to our facility, so we have begun treatment for heartworm. We will continue to cover the heartworm treatment until it is finished, but she can always find a home in the meantime. Alisha also came to us with some visual deficits, however she navigates her world pretty well. She finds her way around and is able to do stairs. She appears mostly blind but may be able to differentiate some shadows in certain lights. She has been spayed and microchipped. She is up to date on vaccines. Alisha is WAITING TO MEET YOU!!!November 25, 2023, 12:08 am

Story
Petunia, known as Tunie, was a stray when she came into her rescuer's home. Unfortunately, she was also positive for Heartworms and may have been injured. After many months of treatment, Tunie is completely free of those nasty worms and ready to find her new home. Like most Huskies, she is an active girl, who loves to romp and play. She is learning all sorts of new things, like playing with toys, pottying outside doing, and recognising when the senior dogs in her foster home have had enough play time. She has learned that people can be pretty cuddly, if you just lean in a little! She has learned "Sit," Go Lay Down," and "Wait, and is working on "Shake," "Stay," and the oh so crucial "Come." She seems to have a strong prey drive, so would probably not be good with cats. Tunie enjoys her walks, and is improving her leash skills too! Tunie like a nice car ride, and has a lot to say about everything, especially dinner, in true Husky fashion. So far she has not tried to leave the fence, but she does have company when in the yard, and, of course, dinner is served at home and she doesn't want to go through that whole hunger thing again! She can be a dumpster diver if you're not careful, so the trash needs to be kept secure! Tunie has come so far since she was rescued and is well on her way to being a great companion. She still needs training, but she wants to be obedient. She has a big personality, and just needs someone to recognize the gem she is! And, she will surely keep the whole family entertained for years to come. Come meet our adoptable dogs on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm in the backyard at AARF's new location- 302 Thurston St, W-S. Go to AARFWS.org to view and apply for our AARF dogs. Information about the process is available on our website. Remember that we do not adopt more than a 45-minute radius from our facility in Winston Salem.
