Story
🤎 Meet Brookie 🐾Brookie is approximately 1 year old and weighs about 52 lbs. Her breed is a bit of a mystery—possibly Husky, Bull or Pit Bull Terrier, Shepherd, Kelpie… or a perfect mix of all of the above. We did notice she looks very similar to tri-colored Husky/Kelpie mixes, but one thing’s for sure: she’s 100% lovable.Brookie is smart, energetic, and super sweet with a truly gentle soul. She’s dog-friendly and loves to play fetch, but she’s just as happy curling up on the couch for serious cuddle time 🥰. She truly enjoys cuddling and playing equally, making her the best of both worlds. This girl loves squeaky toys, goes wild for peanut butter, and is motivated by both toys and food, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. She walks well on a leash, enjoys her outings, and even loves to share her toys with her people—yes, she’ll proudly bring them to you 🤎Brookie is crate trained and house trained and does wonderfully at night—quiet in her crate with no accidents. She already knows “sit” and was working on “down.” When she knows someone is home, she’s calm, relaxed, and content in her crate.During the day, Brookie can experience some separation anxiety and may vocalize because she worries she’s been left alone forever 💔. Because of this, she may do best in a home with another dog for companionship or with TV or music left on to help her feel less alone 🎶🐕Brookie was unsure about cats at first and would bark, but she showed improvement after just a few days—especially once one brave kitty came close enough for her to investigate. A slow, patient introduction would be important in a cat home. She had a couple of accidents while adjusting, but for the most part understands that potty time is outside. There is no aggression here—just a sensitive, loving girl who wants reassurance, stability, and lots of love ❤️If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will play hard, cuddle harder, share her toys, and steal your heart, Brookie might just be your girl 🤎🐾🩺 Brookie will be fully vetted before adoption, including:✔️ Vaccinated✔️ Heartworm & Lyme negative✔️ On heartworm prevention✔️ On flea & tick prevention✔️ Spayed prior to adoption✔️ Microchipped prior to adoption💲 Adoption fee: $225Brookie is looking for a family who understands that love, patience, and cuddles go a long way—and who won’t mind sharing their couch with a very devoted snuggle buddy 🤎🐾You can stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Monday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before we close to ensure we have time to do the adoption. We're open Monday through Friday 12-5 pm and Saturday 11-3 pm. Story
Malawi is an incredibly intelligent, athletic, and affectionate dog who brings joy with her funny personality. While she has the wonderful ability to entertain herself, she faces challenges with Complex Resource Guarding. This means that her guarding responses can be triggered by various situations rather than just one specific thing. For Malawi, these triggers might include contact with food, feelings of losing her freedom or control, and sometimes even toys. Because there are multiple factors that can affect her behavior, her future adopter will need to approach her with patience and understanding. Building trust with Malawi is key; once she feels secure with you, she will communicate more openly, which can help minimize any reactions. I truly believe that having in-home training would make a significant difference for Malawi, helping her settle into her new environment. Her ideal home would be a calm space without cats, children, or other dogs, allowing her to thrive and flourish. With the right love and support, she can become the wonderful companion she`s meant to be.
