Story
🤎 Meet Brookie 🐾Brownie is approximately 1 year old and weighs about 52 lbs. Her breed is a bit of a mystery—possibly Husky, Some kind of Bull or Pitbull Terrier, Shepherd, Kelpie or something but she’s definitely a mixed breed and 100% lovable. We did find she looked most like photos of tri-colored husky/Kelpie mixes but we're still guessing!Brookie is dog-friendly with a truly sweet personality. She loves to play fetch and is happiest when she can snuggle on the couch with her people 🥰. She is a total cuddle bug and hopes her future family will happily share their couch with her.She is crate trained and house trained and does great at night—quiet in her crate with no accidents. She also knows “sit”, and we were working on “down.” When she knows someone is home, she’s content, calm, and relaxed in her crate.During the day, Brookie can experience some separation anxiety and worries she’s been left alone forever, which may cause her to vocalize. Because of this, she may do best in a home with another dog for companionship or with TV or music left on to help her feel less alone 🎶🐕.Brookie was unsure about cats at first and would bark and scare them, but she did show improvement after a few days—especially once one brave kitty came close enough for her to investigate. A slow, patient introduction would be important in a cat home. She had a couple of accidents while adjusting, but for the most part understands that potty time is outside. There is no aggression—just a sensitive girl who wants reassurance and love ❤️.🩺 Brookie will be fully vetted before adoption, including:✔️ Vaccinated✔️ Heartworm & Lyme negative✔️ On heartworm prevention✔️ On flea & tick prevention✔️ Spayed prior to adoption✔️ Microchipped prior to adoption💲 Adoption fee: $225Brookie is looking for a family who understands that love, patience, and cuddles go a long way—and who won’t mind sharing their couch with a very devoted snuggle buddy 🤎🐾You can apply on our website www.highlandhumanesociety.org OR stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Monday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before we close to ensure we have time to do the adoption. We're open Monday through Friday 12-5 pm and Saturday 11-3 pm. We're located at 9331 State Route 124 Hillsboro, OH. Our adoption is open and easy, please come to the shelter to meet the animals in person to adopt.
