Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Introducing Colt! This beautiful boy is said to be a Pomsky, but he is on the larger size at almost 50 lbs. He came to DASH very shy, not really knowing what love and trust were. He is currently in our DASH Prison Program, where he is learning to socialize and just be a dog. He is working on his basic commands and is crate trained, potty trained in the prison setting and now walks well on a leash. He is coming out of his shell and likes all dogs and people. He is a little sensitive to loud noises, but is working on that with his handler. He is just a wonderful dog who needs an active person or family to continue his training and let him know he is safe and loved. He has not been kid or cat tested. (FTA: Colt is a part of our Foster-to-Adopt program. If you are interested in bringing Sampson home to test how he would acclimate to your environment, apply today!) Story
Meet Sam! This handsome guy recently came to us as a stray, and we are still getting to know him. So far Sam is a very happy, playful guy and has been fast friends with staff! Sam is an active boy and very food driven; he already knows some basic skills like "sit" and would love to continue learning through positive reinforcement based training! Sam has done well with other dogs and may appreciate a doggy playmate at home to keep him busy. He would do best in a home without cats. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Sam home. If you are interested in meeting Sam, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Meet Kimber! This sweet girl recently came to us as a stray, and it seems like she was on her own for some time. Kimber came to us in pretty rough shape, emaciated, suffering from a pyometra infection, and absolutely terrified. Thankfully Kimber is now on the mend, and is slowly coming out of her shell. Kimber is looking for a quiet home she can recover in, that will give her the time and care she needs to blossom. Kimber seems to do okay with other dogs. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Kimber home. If you are interested in meeting Kimber, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Meet Shira! This pretty mama came to us with her two sons as strays. We aren't sure how this furry family ended up on the streets, but Shira is ready for the next chapter of her life! It seems Shira has been used for litter after litter, and she is ready for a fresh start learning how to be a normal dog instead of a mom. She is a playful girl and loves being outside! She absolutely loves squeaky toys, tennis balls, or anything else toy shaped. Shira does well with other dogs. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Shira home. Story
Lucky Age: 3 yrs | Weight: 55 lbs | Breed: Pomsky (Pomeranian/Husky Mix) Status: Neutered, Fully Vaccinated, Up-to-Date on Preventatives Lucky is a vibrant, healthy, and loyal companion who has been a cherished member of his family since he was just six weeks old. Due to worsening allergies in the home and an unavoidable change in work schedules, Lucky is looking for a foster (or forever) home where he can trade his crate for more "zoomie" time and companionship. 🌟 Personality & Temperament Lucky is the perfect blend of his breeds: independent, curious, and deeply affectionate. He is a "people dog" who has never shown aggression toward humans or other animals. Vocal & Communicative: In true Husky fashion, Lucky likes to talk! He may give a low growl when it’s time to go into his crate—not out of aggression, but as a "vocal protest" because he’d much rather stay out and play with you. Everyone’s Friend: Lucky is great with other dogs, we are unsure how he does with children and cats. Alert & Attentive: He takes his job as a doorbell notifier seriously and will bark at strangers or footsteps at the door, though household sounds like the vacuum don't phase him. A Little Storm-Shy: While he’s fine indoors during bad weather, loud environmental noises like thunderstorms or large garbage trucks can make him anxious while on walks. 🏡 Life at Home Lucky is a "good boy" when it comes to house manners. He is house-trained and is not destructive when left alone. Crate Profile: He is fully crate-trained and sleeps there comfortably at night (usually starting around 8:00 PM). He currently spends 6–8 hours in his crate during the workday, but he is looking for a home where he can have more freedom and activity. Energy Level: High! Lucky loves his fenced backyard and enjoys being active. He is manageable on a leash but is always ready for an adventure. Training: He’s a smart pup who already knows Sit, Hug, High-Five, and “Let’s go outside.” 🏥 Health & Wellness Lucky is a healthy boy with no known allergies or chronic conditions. Monthly Maintenance: He stays protected with monthly Simparica trio (flea/tick/heartworm). Veterinary Records: All records are up-to-date and available for his new caregivers. 🛌 Ideal Foster Match Lucky would thrive in a home where: Someone is home more often or has a shorter workday. There is a fenced yard for him to burn off his Pomsky energy. The family enjoys an active lifestyle and can continue his basic training. A Note from the Family: "This was not an easy decision. Our goal is simply to find a home that can give Lucky the time, exercise, and attention that fits his wonderful personality. He has been loved since day one, and we want to see him flourish."
