Story
Canelle is an 8 year old Alaskan mix that we recently rescued from the dog sledding industry. She is the sweetest and most gentlesst girl you'll meet. She is very calm when in the house, but has a very energetic side when she hits the outdoors. Canelle loves being outside in the fresh air, smelling her surroundings. She loves going for walks and loves them so much she wants to go as fast as she can! She does pull for the first 10 minutes of her walks but then calms down once she figures out there is no rush and no need to run. She realizes she can stop and smell the roses! Canelle is great with kids and oves attention from children of all sizes. She loves when they give her belly rubs. Canelle is great with other dogs of all sizes. She will occasionally let out a small low growl if there is a very excited dog in her face but will just turn and walk away. She has never shown any real aggression towards other pups. Even on our walks when we meet new dogs, she shows no aggression. She just keeps on her merry way! Canelle is great in her crate. She never tries to escape the crate, it’s her safe space. She actually loves to cuddle up inside a lot of the time. When we are gone we leave the crate closed and she does great. When we are home the door of her crate is always open so she can come and go when she pleases! She does great with a dog bed and does not chew it. Canelle has been really great with house training. She has only had one accident in the house on the first day she came to us which was from her anxiety, but she has been amazing ever since. Canelle can hold her bladder through the night. When we go outside she knows what to do! Canelle loves soft dog toys but eventually puts a hole in it, so she does go through them! She is a leisurely eater. She will eat when she's hungry and only if she's hungry. She will however take treats whenever offered! This girl will be the most loving addition to her forever home! She is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and up to date with vaccines. Her adoption fee is $400. If you’re interested in adopting her please fill out an adoption form.

Story
Introducing Vanille, a 4 year old Alaskan mix we recently rescued from the dog sledding industry. She’s a happy girl bursting with love. This cuddle bug adores attention and affection, greeting you with wags and a beaming smile whenever you walk through the door. While she tends to jump up when you arrive home, she's eager to learn and adapt. She has never jumped up onto the foster families young child though. Snuggling is her specialty, whether it's on the couch, floor, or bed, she'll happily cozy up next to you for some quality time together. If left alone, she might whine a bit or get anxious if you're out of sight, but she's working on her independence. Good with kids and other dogs, she's patient with puppies but prefers her personal space with overly exuberant dogs. Cats intrigue her, especially when they're being petted, but she's more likely to give them kisses than chase them. Outdoorsy and curious, she's your perfect adventure buddy, always ready for a walk or a run in the yard. While she's a dream on a leash, her squirrel-chasing instincts might kick in from time to time. House trained and non-destructive, except for the occasional cardboard box, she's a tidy housemate. Her toy of choice? Plain stuffies she lovingly collects and arranges into a pile. Whether she's riding shotgun in the car or curled up at your feet, she's happiest by your side, ready for whatever the day brings, be it an outdoor escapade or a cozy night in on the couch. This sweet, affectionate girl is just waiting for her forever family to share endless love and cuddles with. ✳️ Vanille’s adoption fee is $500. She is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and UTD on vaccines. ▪️If you're interested in adopting her please fill out an adoption form: https://form.jotform.com/221626931360250

Story
Meet Astar, a 7-year old Alaskan Husky mix with a heart of gold. He is one of the recent sleddies we rescued from the dog sledding industry. Despite spending his early years tied to a chain, Astar has blossomed into a loving and affectionate companion since finding his way into foster care. This handsome and charming fellow starts his days with a big stretch and a flurry of kisses, eager to greet his human each morning with his trademark 'smile'. Astar's affectionate nature shines through as he enjoys nuzzling and snuggling up to his human whenever he can, forming deep bonds with those he trusts. While he may take a moment to warm up to new faces, Astar's gentle demeanor shines through in his interactions with other animals, including dogs of all genders, cats, and even young children. He's proven himself to be respectful and gentle, making him a wonderful addition to any household willing to extend a little patience and understanding. Astar's journey to confidence has been marked by milestones, from conquering his fear of the car, to being a brave boy in the bath, tackling new adventures with gusto. Though he occasionally pulls on walks due to being used to running to pull a sled, a simple adjustment to the leash attachment transforms him into the perfect walking companion. With a love for exploration and an appreciation for the finer things in life (like bum scratches and belly rubs), Astar is happiest when he's out and about, taking in the sights and smells of the new world around him. Astar's foster mom describes him as a low-energy sweetheart, equally content to snuggle up for a nap or embark on a thrilling hike. His playful side is emerging more each day, complete with goofy antics and a charming smile that lights up the room. As Astar continues to build his confidence, he's on the lookout for his forever home — one where he'll be cherished for all the wonderful traits that make him unique. With his intelligence, humor, and boundless affection, Astar is sure to bring joy and laughter to the lucky family who opens their heart and home to him. ✳️ Astar’s adoption fee is $400. He has been dewormed, is microchipped, is UTD on vaccines and has been neutered. ▪️If you're interested in adopting Astar please fill out an adoption form: https://form.jotform.com/221626931360250

Story
Meet Yoko, a 7 year old Alaskan mix we recently rescued from the dog sledding industry. Yoko is not just incredibly smart but also affectionate, loving nothing more than leaning into you for some cuddles. He's a true companion, happiest when he's with his people, ready to join in on hours-long adventures or simply curl up at your feet for a relaxing day indoors. Yoko walks like a dream on a leash, with minimal pulling and a graceful trot that makes it look like he's floating. While he can be strong, especially when walking he will pull harder when he sees other dogs, but he’s just excited. His main priority is always his person. Yoko's confidence shines when he's with someone he trusts, with his tail held high and a spring in his step. However, he can become reserved and anxious when separated from them. He enjoys playing with squeaky toys and has shown interest in using a Kong, although he can be a bit picky with his food. Some tasty gravy or a mix of kibble and raw food might do the trick! Yoko has been calm around cats but hasn’t come in direct contact with them. So a slow introduction is always best. Yoko is eagerly waiting to become someone's new best friend! Yoko will soon be neutered, is microchipped and up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $500. If you’re interested in adopting him please fill out an adoption form

Story
Oh, hello! My name is Equinox! I am one of the sleddies Baladi & Sled Dog Rescue recently rescued from the dog sledding industry. I'm told that this is where I come to find something called a "forever family"? Am I in the right place? I hope so because I really want one of those forever families everybody is talking about. I have a very lovely foster family, but, the truth is, with little kids running around, it's a bit loud and bothersome here for me, and I'd like to find some place a little more quiet to live out my senior years. I'm a big beautiful 9 year year old boy who weighs around 70 pounds. I actually just celebrated my birthday on March 17th! I lived most of my life on a chain and have spent the last month learning about indoor life and oh boy, you guys! It's so warm, and soft, and there's food all the time and I'm not on a chain so I get to move around freely and it's like a whole new world! Now I'll be honest with you, getting adjusted to this new life has been a bit difficult for me as I wasn't in very good shape when I got rescued and I needed a little bit of help. I had some masses in a couple different places that needed surgery, including one on my neck that was quite large. But the good news is, it's not cancer!! My neck is still healing but foster mom says it looks really good, and my fur is starting to grow back all around it! I'm still learning that not everything is dangerous and scary, that loud noises aren't the end of the world, and that people are mostly kind with gentle hands. Because of this, I'm going to need time and space to decompress in my new home, and somebody who won't give up on me just because I'm shy at the beginning. Currently I prefer to sleep on my blankets in the kitchen away from the hustle and bustle, and I think I'd like to do the same at my new forever family's home while I get used to things. I'm told I'm a very friendly, easy going guy who is safe around cats, small animals, and I do good with big and small dogs as long as they're lower energy and won't be loud and jumpy around me. I'm getting on in age now and am not a fan of puppies, so no puppies in the house and no adopting one after you've adopted me, please! While I love kids and am safe to be around kids, I would do best in a home without them or ones over 12 years old, because I need a home with less energy. It's okay if kids come to visit, I don't mind that, and I'll be gentle with them, but I just don't want to live with them full time. I'd be a great dog for empty nesters, young couples without kids, or even a family with teenagers. Due to my strength and size, I don't think I'd be a good fit for seniors as I still don't know my real strength and I am a puller. I don't want to hurt anybody by accident! Speaking of strength, I think I could really benefit from somebody willing to take the time to train me on leash manners and maybe even a few tricks. I'm working very well on these skills at my foster home, but foster mom says it will be an ongoing thing as I learn the world around me. Remember, I'm used to living on a 4 foot chain, so all of this space is a bit overwhelming for me. I will need your patience because I am a little scared. Foster mom says I walk mostly well on a harness (I can't do a collar right now because of my surgery) but I get very scared of sounds and things going on so sometimes I really want to dart back inside to my safe space. But with love, time, and the patience of somebody who loves me, foster mom (and foster dad!) say they think I'm going to overcome these fears and be a really good walking companion. I am potty trained and have had very few accidents in the house. The only accidents I have had have been when something really loud scares me and I pee on my bed a little bit, but this is something my foster mom thinks I will overcome. I won't tell you if I need to go outside, preferring to just hold it all in and be quiet, so you'll need to take me outside even if I'm not telling you. I am absolutely terrified of crates and need a home that will not crate me. I think I'd do good with somebody with a large, full fenced and secured yard so I could learn how to explore outside in a safe way. I'm a really lovely boy who enjoys when foster mom or dad come and sit with me in my own space and give me gentle pets. I need somebody willing to give me that space, and willing to come into that space and show me gentleness and love. I'm not used to lots of space yet, but I think eventually I'll learn that I can use the whole house and be loved on everywhere. Maybe someday I'll even learn how to sit with you on the couch or sleep with you in bed. I've recently started resting my head on foster mom's leg when she sleeps with me, and sometimes when she comes into the room I even wag my tail and tap my feet to show some love. I do not jump on people and I never growl or bark. Mom has only heard me make noise one time, so I may be a pretty quiet boy... Or maybe with the right amount of love and time, I'll learn to use my voice. I just know I'm going to make the best new family member to somebody who's willing to give me what I need to learn and grow. If there's anything else you'd like to know about me, my foster parents would be happy to answer any questions you have. Equinox's adoption fee is $400. He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. If you’re interested in adopting him please fill out an adoption application.
