Story
Hi, I'm Hercules, formally known as Clark. I'm trying to forget about being named Clark by my previous family. They moved out of the only house I ever knew and left me there alone. I'm glad they left me a mattress in the yard, it was the only thing I had to sleep on for weeks. A sweet neighborhood lady finally reached out to the shelter, and someone came to get me. In the shelter I got walks and was loved on by the volunteers. I met other dogs and seemed to enjoy my time there. After all, it was better than a mattress in a yard where no one was feeding or petting me. I found I like a home much better than the shelter. My foster family has been taking care of me and I've been living with them for a few months getting good food and getting caught up on my preventative vet care. I'm currently living with a male and female foster mom & six other kids, ranging in ages from 15 years old-3mths. I have a small dog companion and a few cats who share my foster home as well. I do like food, and prefer not to share with others. My new family will need to be willing to have some patience and give me some space when I'm eating. I have been around other dogs and would likely do best with a meet n greet before entering a new family. I'm really excited about what my third chance at life could hold. I hope my new home has a yard (without a mattress in it) and a soft dog bed for me. I would like to go on walks and get to know exactly how it feels to be safe with my new family. All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday). We only adopt in the USA. We are open to adopting in other states, except in Massachusetts. There are quarantine laws for MA and until these laws change, we are not able to adopt into MA.

Story
I’ve been fostering Zeus since September 22, from someone just wanting him off their hands. He’s a sweet boy, lazy but gets the zoomies. Loves cuddles, lounging, belly rubs and lots of treats. Does well with positive correction if he’s not suppose to do something. Likes to have conversations but is not vocal all the time. Just needs lots of love and attention.

Story
We’ve made the tough decision to rehome this sweet girl because our other two dogs don’t like to interact with her. Zena (age 3) needs a home where she can get more playtime either alone or with other dogs that enjoy her company. She is a unique Husky. She’s super quiet--does not bark or howl at all. Very catlike. She stretches her back, struts on her little paws, and minds her own business just like a cat. Super gentle and extra polite, friendly with new people and kids, and LOVES the dog park and playing with the other dogs. She’s crate-trained, housebroken, and knows “sit” and “shake.” She loves to shake hands! She may have some vision loss in one eye because she had a head injury as a puppy (a Boxer got rough when she tried to eat his food). In fact, we adopted her to give her a safer home. It is just sad now to see her unhappy with our other dogs. It’s not her fault; they’re just not a good mix. She deserves a home where she can live stress-free and be accepted by any other pets.

Story
Nala is an amazing young dog. Approximately a year and a half. She was adopted from San Antonio animal shelter nov 2022. She loves people and gets along with most pets. Nala and my multipoo are not adjusting to each other. It is a constant battle between them. My multipoo tends to be the aggressor but because of Nala’s size I am afraid my little dog will get hurt. Nala loves my indoor cat but chases my outdoor cats. I do not believe she would harm them, she just loves to play. Nala has never barked but true to Husky breed she talks a bit. Nala loves to sleep on the bed and snuggle up for the night.

Story
Geronimo is a real live Teddy Bear! Friendly and laid back, this boy has it all. Before arriving to SARA, Geronimo was abandoned in a trailer park and chained up to his previous home. Now he is happily greeting staff and visitors at SARA with a joyful wag, soaking up the attention. Because he has not shared a pen with other dogs, we are unsure how he is with canine friends. However, Geronimo is a huge people lover of all ages and can't wait to be a part of a loving household.
