Story
Meet Kurt, a five year old Husky/Malamute mix.Kurt is a big, beautiful boy with a heart that’s just starting to open up. It seems like he’s spent much of his life on the streets, fending for himself and figuring things out the hard way. Because of that, everything is new to him – from the comfort of a soft bed to the feel of a leash.Despite his rough past, Kurt is showing us he wants to connect. He’s the kind of dog who leans into you once he starts to feel safe – a sign of trust that’s truly special. He responds well to kindness, loves treats, and is looking for a person who will treat him with respect and patience. In return, he’ll offer quiet loyalty and a bond that runs deep.Kurt isn’t ready for a loud or busy home, so no young kids at this time, and a calm environment would suit him best. He’ll need some time to adjust, but for the right person, he’s going to be an incredible companion. This pet is available for adoption on 9/18/2025 at 1:52 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Mozart, a one year old Siberian Husky/Anatolian Shepherd mix weighing 88 pounds. Mozart’s story starts on a sad note—he was abandoned multiple times along the Greenway before finally making his way to us. We truly can’t imagine why, because this handsome charmer is pure magic. With his striking different-colored eyes, big goofy smile, and wonderfully expressive ears, Mozart turns heads everywhere he goes. This big boy has a happy, outgoing personality and greets life with tail wags and enthusiasm. He’s friendly with everyone he meets, treat-motivated, and already knows how to sit for treats—clearly a fan of positive reinforcement and a good reward (his favorite kind of com-paws-er motivation!).Mozart brings joy wherever he goes, like a perfect symphony of silliness and sweetness. He’s ready to trade his days of being overlooked for a forever home where he can finally take center stage. If you’re looking for a great boy who will fill your life with happiness, Mozart is ready to play his heart out just for you. This pet is available for adoption on 11/7/2025 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Tony was left on the side of the road, so there is no history on him. He has been a good boy the whole time we've had him. He loves to sit on your feet and just get pets. He loves splashing in his kiddie pool and he enjoys running around the yard. He gets along well with other dogs. He does not do well in a crate ( he broke the first and only one we ever gave him), he does still have house accidents and he occasionally chews pillows. So it is best that while you work on his anxiety that you have a space he can go in that isn't a kennel. He is a husky, so he loves to talk and tattle on his siblings. He doesn't share stuffed animals or food well 9 we are working on it)
