Story
We adopted Leo in February of 2020. There has never been a more silly, sanguine, exciting dog ever to have existed. You can have such easy fun with him. Whenever you're feeling down he makes everything seem fine. He loves toys and going to the dog park/play dates away from his home. He is very well behaved in those situations. However, he is aggressive towards cats and is food and toy aggressive with other dogs when they are in his territory. We have been making it work with our other dog and cat but realized that he would be happier in a single-pet household. He has never had much of a problem being alone as long as he gets a lot of attention and exercise when you are home. Leo is a perfect single pet household dog. He has the spirit of at least 10 normal dogs. He is very easy to motivate with treats and loves butt scratches. He is a great guard dog and is mostly and outside dog at the moment.

Story
Hello, my name is Misty. I am a female Husky, I am approximately 5 years old and I am up to date on vaccines. I am asking that you please overlook my hair cut as I came from a terrible situation. I was not properly cared for and my fur was a dirty matted mess, so the ladies here at the shelter bathed me and cut my mats out. Oh my goodness, I sure do feel so much better. I am a very easy going, laid back gal and I love getting love and attention from the ladies. They are always saying what a sweet beautiful good girl I am. And that I am so deserving of a forever loving home. I would absolutely love to experience what life is like in a home instead of in a kennel. If you think that you could give me that experience, please email the ladies at hampshirecountyac@gmail.com for an adoption application. I sure would forever and always be grateful. Only applications filled out in its entirety will be processed. Must include past and present Veterinary history.      September 21, 2023, 11:45 am

VOLUNTEERS : We need transport drivers who can do legs between WV and New England! Driver Application: http://form.jotform.us/form/50214993744156 More Info: https://groups.io/org/groupsio/ICanDrive   Please submit an adoption application if you would like to adopt me! http://form.jotform.us/form/51725688240156 Contact us: https://secure.jotform.us/form/51797057247162 Dante is about 2 years old, around 50 pounds, and a beautiful purebred husky. Unfortunately, Dante has special needs. This beautiful dog spent most of his early life in a crate. Any pup, especially the husky breed, needs exercise, stimulation, and training!  So Dante is still like a big puppy! He needs an owner familiar with the breed who will be patient and understand him. Dante had to first learn to potty outside.  He would spend hours outside and come inside to potty, for he thought that was what he was supposed to do. It took months to turn that around.. Not all of his digestive issues were something he could help. After much trial and error and testing, it was determined that Dante needs a special prescription food and probiotics in order to maintain his gut health.  Without these, he will have bloody diarrhea. Dante has been completely vetted including  DHPP, rabies, bordatella, 4DX, and lepto.  On 11/4/22 he was neutered, scrotal ablation, and began Nexgard, which has been kept up to date. A trip to the vet isn't easy for Dante, and he has been given trazadone to help keep him calm for appointments.  He still went through three cones before his stitches came out after his neuter! He may need trazadone to help him face new situations until he has more life experiences and feels safe. Dante spent some time in boarding where he had a room to himself, but presently he is in an environment where he can meet more people, see other dogs, and have more space to exercise. One volunteer has come to know Dante and walks him regularly.  However, Dante is too strong and pulls too hard for many of the other volunteers. He also gets excited and jumps up and nips, all very much puppy behavior, except that Dante isn't a puppy. He MUST have an above-ground fenced yard in which to safely exercise.  He does get along with other dogs, but he doesn't know how to play and plays rough.  He's made friends with a couple of other dogs who are energetic and also play rough, but not all dogs tolerate his roughness.  Dante rides well in a car and will simply sit and watch out the window as he travels. Sometimes, just knowing how to handle him makes a world of difference. For example, he was twisting and biting during brushing until a trainer put a nylabone in his mouth and brushed away!  She can also get him to "sit" and "lie down," and says he would benefit from a manners class. What a wonderful gift it would be to find Dante a family to love him, spend time with him, and know how to teach and train him! (This is NOT the dog for a first-time pet owner!) Do you have the know-how and the patience to help this beautiful dog have a better life?------------------------------------- Animal Rights Fur-Ever is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer animal rescue located in Ripley, West Virginia.
