Cowpoke might be a bit shy at first, but once he sees you’ve got a toy in hand, he’s ready to saddle up for some serious fun! He’s a drivey little dude who’d do best in a slightly active home—someone who appreciates a good game of fetch and the occasional burst of terrier energy. Give him some patience and time to build trust, and you’ll have a loyal sidekick who’s always up for adventure. If you love watching terrier shenanigans, Cowpoke’s your guy. Russell is an incredibly sweet, snuggly, and spunky little guy - truly a wonderful Terrier. He has been good with young children (3-6), done well with the other dogs he's met, and enjoys talking to and trying to play with 4 outdoor rescue kitties he can interact with through a fence line, so we think he will do quite well with a resident cat. He is one of 4 Terrier mixes abandoned in a very rural neighbor's backyard and never claimed (it seems they were from a backyard breeding project, as other similar dogs were also found by others in the general area and owners never found). The finder was unable to keep them, as he had his own dogs and all 4 *can* climb chain link/welded wire. He and his assumed to be brothers (Rusty, Rascal, and Romeo, the TerrieRs) then had a foster offer in Washington, where they were neutered and finished their vetting. Russell is incredibly sweet, and loves to snuggle. He jumps with joy when you walk up to him, and just has the perfect mix of sweetness and playfulness - he could do well in a variety of home settings. He is crate trained, and has done well in a home with close supervision and interaction, but has not been left to free-roam the house unsupervised (between being 4 intact male dogs, and then crate rest after neuter), but we think he'd be very well-behaved. He has had no crate accidents, and let's people know when he would like to go out/go potty. Because he can climb chain link and welded wire, his main consideration is an adoptive home where he cannot climb out if momentarily bored or lonely, so preferred homes will have wood or vinyl fencing - he would also do well in an apartment setting or similar, where his time outside is supervised or leashed.

Porcini entered Los Angeles Animal Care and Control's Baldwin Park Shelter as a stray, and sadly, no one came for her. We welcomed 14-year-old Porcini as a Frosted Face on October 28th. Weighing 11 lbs., she is a sweet, lovable doll baby who is very respectful of cats and does well with other dogs. Since Porcini's arrival, she has spent time in two foster homes, and both fosters only had wonderful things to report! Here is the latest feedback from her holiday fling: "Porcini is really about as low-maintenance and easygoing as you can get for a little dog. She eats well, gets around well, toddles around the house a little, and naps most of the day in a dog bed. She doesn’t need much exercise but really enjoys going outside and meandering around a little. When home alone, she was quiet, well-behaved and just slept. Porcini really shines when you pick her up and plop her in a cozy bed next to you! She’ll happily keep you company while you watch tv, eat, read, and play video games. She doesn’t expect or demand attention but is happy to rest next to you and get whatever petting you’d like to dish out. Porcini went traveling with us to a few different holiday festivities including a street party and a Christmas lights stroll, as well as a weekend getaway to Solvang and Cambria. She was super easy in the car and seemed curious and happy being out and about. It’s tempting to carry her everywhere, but she does GREAT walking around. Porcini had a wonderful time wandering around Solvang and Cambria and getting lots of "awwws" and "isn’t-she-adorables." We didn’t get anywhere fast, but we enjoyed ourselves! Porcini is a great reminder to take your She was great in the backpack, and I bet she would LOVE a stroller. Porcini is a very good little girl who deserves a warm bed, a little patch of grass, and a cozy spot in a loving home. I hope someone who is kind, loving and good is somewhere reading this.
