Howdy, partner! Meet Cowpoke! 🤠 This little Jack Russell Terrier mix is a true cowboy at heart—full of grit, spunk, and a playful streak a mile wide. Cowpoke might be a bit shy at first, but once he sees you’ve got a toy in hand, he’s ready to saddle up for some serious fun! He’s a drivey little dude who’d do best in a slightly active home—someone who appreciates a good game of fetch and the occasional burst of terrier energy. Give him some patience and time to build trust, and you’ll have a loyal sidekick who’s always up for adventure. If you love watching terrier shenanigans, Cowpoke’s your guy. Thinking about stepping into the working dog world or dog sports? He’s a perfect trail guide for that too! We reckon he’d make a fine little ranch hand for rat hunting—he even knows the “get it!” command. So if you’re looking for a pint-sized partner with plenty of cowboy spirit, hitch up your heart—Cowpoke’s ready to ride off into the sunset with you. 🌅🐾

Story
Russell is an incredibly sweet, snuggly, and spunky little guy - truly a wonderful Terrier. He has been good with young children (3-6), done well with the other dogs he's met, and enjoys talking to and trying to play with 4 outdoor rescue kitties he can interact with through a fence line, so we think he will do quite well with a resident cat. He is one of 4 Terrier mixes abandoned in a very rural neighbor's backyard and never claimed (it seems they were from a backyard breeding project, as other similar dogs were also found by others in the general area and owners never found). The finder was unable to keep them, as he had his own dogs and all 4 *can* climb chain link/welded wire. He and his assumed to be brothers (Rusty, Rascal, and Romeo, the TerrieRs) then had a foster offer in Washington, where they were neutered and finished their vetting. Russell is incredibly sweet, and loves to snuggle. He jumps with joy when you walk up to him, and just has the perfect mix of sweetness and playfulness - he could do well in a variety of home settings. He is crate trained, and has done well in a home with close supervision and interaction, but has not been left to free-roam the house unsupervised (between being 4 intact male dogs, and then crate rest after neuter), but we think he'd be very well-behaved. He has had no crate accidents, and let's people know when he would like to go out/go potty. Because he can climb chain link and welded wire, his main consideration is an adoptive home where he cannot climb out if momentarily bored or lonely, so preferred homes will have wood or vinyl fencing - he would also do well in an apartment setting or similar, where his time outside is supervised or leashed. Russell can be transported to CA for adoption around the middle of October 💓

Story
This cute little boy is about a year old. We have had Kirby for months! As a baby, he was very nervous, but he has grown into a confident, sweet dog. Kids are still a bit too much for him, but he adjusts well to meeting teenagers/adults and will quickly become your cuddle buddy. He also does well with other animals. He loves wrestling with pups and would enjoy a dog sibling in his next home. Since Kirby is still a young pup, he enjoys playing with toys, going for hikes, and riding along in the car. He isn't overly hyper though and does well just relaxing at home in a lap as well. Kirby is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is crate trained and housebroken. If you're interested in adopting Kirby, please submit an application on our website at www.dominoeffectanimalrescue.orgNovember 2, 2025, 10:53 pm

Story
Sargent is a nine-year-old Jack Russell Terrier with perhaps some herding dog in him rescued from Devore Animal Shelter. He is a gruff little man with a heart of gold. This sturdy little guy checks all the boxes: confident, smart, energetic and very affectionate. He would thrive in a quieter home as loud noises scare him a bit. He is incredibly good with people but would prefer not to live with smaller children. Sargent would do well with an active person taking him on daily walks. He is good on a leash and doesn’t pull. Sargent was definitely loved in his former life. When found as a stray, he was already microchipped and neutered. Sadly, when the number on the microchip was called, no one answered or came forward. Southpaw took Sargent to our vet for a full wellness check. Everything checks out: good eyes, good ears, good heart and blood work is healthy. The vet noticed some stiffness in the back leg, so we did some x-rays and were surprised to find that at some point in Sargent's life, he had broken his leg pretty bad. Instead of the less expensive amputation, his former people paid a lot of money to have metalware put in with a pin. The surgeon was good as there are no complications or arthritis in the leg. Sargent is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Although 9 is considered “senior”, Sargent really is just entering middle age with his best years ahead of him. If you are interested in meeting Sargent, please fill out the application form below: https://www.southpawrescue.com/adoption-application
