Story
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Each dog in our rescue is in a loving foster home, where they can grow, play, and recover from their time spent on the streets or in a shelter. If you'd like to meet an adoptable dog, please fill out an application on our website, www.edcr.org. Because we are a foster home based rescue a completed adoption application is required to meet our adoptable dogs. April 8, 2025, 2:21 pm

Story
Sunny’s Story Sunny was found abandoned near a Goodwill store, hiding under a pine tree in search of shade. Despite her rough start, she has shown nothing but resilience and heart. What We Love About Sunny Sunny absolutely adores her people. Being close to them makes her light up with excitement. While she can be over-the-top excited when meeting new people, she settles in beautifully with her trusted humans—snuggling close and offering the sweetest gentle kisses. Progress & Growth Since arriving in foster care, Sunny has made wonderful progress. When she first came home, she struggled with overstimulation, often jumping and using her mouth. With patience, consistency, and understanding, she has improved significantly and now jumps without the biting, showing how eager she is to learn and please. Funny Quirks & Personality Sunny is as courageous as they come and seems to know her quick little self can stir up the bigger dogs. One of her favorite routines is sprinting down the hallway toward the door, then dramatically turning to dash outside—always with confidence and flair. Story
Hi, I’m Chico! I’m a fun-loving senior pup with a sweet personality and lots of charm. I enjoy spending time with people and taking life at a comfortable pace. I do have chronic allergies and a heart murmur, which just means I’ll need a home that can help manage my medical needs and keep me feeling my best. In return, I offer plenty of love, companionship, and gentle fun. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing friend to share your days with, I’d love to meet you!

Story
Meet Lilly! ??A 25lb, 2-year-old, Jack Russell Terrier who came to the shelter alongside her housemate, Rosie, after a sudden loss in her family. The big changes were overwhelming for her, and she arrived feeling very stressed and timid. Lilly does best when people listen to her boundaries. Because of this, she’s looking for a calm, understanding home with children who are teen age or older, where everyone can move at her pace and let trust build. She’ll need adopters who are patient, kind, and willing to give her the time she needs to feel safe and secure. In the right home, with steady routines and gentle encouragement, Lilly has the potential to continue blossoming into a loving companion. If you’re someone who believes in going slow, celebrating small victories, and giving a dog the space to be herself, Lilly may be the perfect match for you.We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@johnsoncounty.in.gov for an application.
