**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Chucky. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 22 lbs. I was surrendered by my owner along with a litter of pups. It seems that they were in trouble in the past for hoarding animals and they didn't want caught with us. I was a very scared boy at the shelter. One of the nice ladies that volunteer here took me home to foster me. She has been working with me a lot. I was initially terrified of everything, including going outside... now I'm the first one out! I am really enjoying her home. I love her other dogs and her cats too. I will need a very patient family that can continue working with me on potty training, socialization and training. I am very sweet and cuddly once I learn that I can trust you! If you're looking for a sweet little dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Sadie has special requirements and will require her adopter to have a one level home, fenced yard, no small children and no large or energetic dogs.  “Hi, I’m Sadie! I’m a 12-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix searching for a cozy retirement home where I can spend my golden years surrounded by love, warm blankets and good food.  A Little About Me: I’m mostly blind and hard of hearing, but I don’t let that stop me from following my person everywhere. I like to quietly plant myself near them, so you have to be very careful you don't trip over me! I weigh approximately 20lbs and do need a lift now and then, so someone who can carry me is a necessity.  I require one-level home where it’s easy for me to navigate safely. I have IVDD and take daily medications, but my foster mom keeps me comfortable and happy. Due to my limited mobility, I would not make a good walking partner or being put on a tie-out.  I like to follow my person and explore a bit in the yard but I'm more of a couch potato kinda gal.  With that being said, a fenced yard would be best for me at this time so I don’t wander onto unknown places. I do need supervised at all times when I'm outside. I’m house-trained with frequent potty breaks and do great overnight! I easily co-exist with other dogs but I would not make a good companion, snuggle buddy or play mate for other animals. I like to keep to myself and be with my human.  What I’m Hoping For: A calm, loving home without small children or big, bouncy dogs. I have not had any exposure to cats. Someone who enjoys having a loyal companion by their side—I’m happiest cuddled on the couch, snoozing, or getting my face scratched. A family who will cherish me and make sure I’m comfortable for the rest of my journey. Bonus Info: Sadie has been in foster care for over 11 months and has made great progress with her health. She qualifies for our LUVS program, which helps cover certain medical costs.  And let’s not forget—Sadie LOVES snacks and will happily be your taste-testing buddy for all the best dog-friendly treats. Sadie may be a senior, but she’s full of love to give and deserves the softest landing for her golden years. Could you be her perfect person? Sadie is available for adoption now through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale PA 15144 - KL# 16182 A sponsor has donated to support this senior dog’s adoption. Rather than waiving the adoption fee, you will receive a $200 gift card to a pet store close to you to help cover supplies for your new dog. We want to ensure all dogs are adopted for the right reasons, while still giving adopters meaningful support as they welcome a new family member. ##2319467##

Story
Ohhh Chicken Little. This girl has main-character energy and she knows it. Once upon a winter freeze, when the streets were icy and the world felt a little too big, a tiny puppy was found wandering alone — cold, confused, and trying her very best to be brave. That brave little explorer was Chicken Little. Scooped up just in time, she traded shivers for soft blankets and discovered something wonderful: humans who keep you warm, feed you snacks, and tell you you’re a good girl. Now safe in foster care, Chicken Little is ready to find her furever home — but she’s bringing her full personality with her. She’s a classic Jack Russell Terrier through and through. That means brains, boldness, and enough energy to power a small city. She doesn’t just have zoomies — she is the zoomies. This spunky girl needs an active lifestyle and a family that understands that if she doesn’t get a job, she’ll assign herself one. (Interior decorating? Sock relocation? Supervising yard patrol? She’s versatile.) Chicken Little can be a little bossy — but in the charming, pint-sized CEO kind of way. And that face? The kind that makes you forgive absolutely everything. She’s smart as a whip and currently working on her potty training. With her quick mind and eagerness, she’s well on her way to mastering it. She would thrive with other playful, active dogs who can match her energy and keep the fun going. Cats are a little trickier — she can be very “in your face,” so a home without cats is preferred. However, with an older, confident cat and a patient adopter willing to manage introductions carefully, it could potentially work. And let’s not forget her ultra-sensitive ears. A leaf blows outside? She knows. A squirrel three blocks away blinks? She’s on it. Congratulations — you now have a built-in security system. Chicken Little survived the cold on her own, but she doesn’t have to anymore. She’s ready for a home that will keep her busy, love her fiercely, and appreciate the joyful whirlwind that she is. If you’re looking for a tiny dog with a huge personality, endless enthusiasm, and the confidence of someone who has already conquered winter — Chicken Little might just be your girl. 🐾
