Story
Meet Poppy! Poppy is a 6yr old, Terrier mix, spayed female and up to date on vaccines/preventatives. She is house trained, kennel trained, and vehicle trained as well. Poppy is a medium energy dog; feisty and likes to socialize BUT she's a little crusty on the outside and super gooey on the inside. She loves her people and her friends; however, you'll need to earn her trust. Poppy can be energetic, plays casually and enjoys sustained games of chase with her friends, on her terms (fun police.) She can get cranky if play becomes too vigorous and she gets pounced on too much/hard. Poppy has a little bit of arthritis, and it can be painful, so she will gladly retreat to the door to let you know she is done with playtime. She is more than willing to go inside, follow you around or curl up, chill, and get her belly rubbed. Being small but mighty, Poppy occasionally has bouts of barking at what she sees moving in the distance and will go zooming up and down the fence line in arousal of anyone/thing approaching; however, she will calm down on her own with minimal intervention from her person. When greeting you, Poppy displays the typical wiggle body and wildly wagging tail. Have you seen how long her tail is?! It waves like a banner over her back and is simply adorable! She may initially hop up to put her feet on you, letting you know she's happy and wants to interact with you, she loves attention and will display a little eagerness to get more loves... so saying her name as she's being petted, and the name of the other dog(s) being petted keeps her content. Noteworthy Behaviors: Poppy displays barrier reactivity with new people/surroundings as a way to express her anxiety in the situation. She will need a person or family, (with older children), who will understand and take their time with her. Once you win her over, she is gold! She is quirky about having her collar touched so she will whine, cower down, and roll to her side. She will display mouthy behavior as you attempt to put a leash on her, but she genuinely wants to go out so don't give up! She will pop right up and head to the door after being leashed!! Key points to consider when adopting Poppy: she is sugar and spice with bursts of energy so great with a laid back and an active family. Honorable mention: Poppy does have a housemate, Sully, who is also up for adoption. If you're looking for two friends, then they are your duo! They would have an easier transition into a new home together but they are not bonded. $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State Fee (includes transport to your area) $50 Fuel temporary fuel surcharge

Stella is the sweetest petite girl. She is a very active pup but also LOVES to cuddle. She would do best in an active lifestyle or somewhere with lots of walks or a yard. She is very very intelligent. She is good with other dogs but sometimes gets too excited when seeing another dog on a leash. This girl will be someone’s best friend and has been looking for her forever home for a while now! No idea how she hasn’t been scooped up!

Story
Lil Klinger has a name that suites him to a T!  It means “courageous” and he is such a Lil courageous guy indeed.  But to add to this courage, he is also a confident, intelligent boy that has endured the hard times when his human family could struggle no longer and keep him. He was reluctantly surrendered to our rescue and we have delighted in see what a truly beloved boy he is.  This dog would fit in anywhere, anytime, anyway.  Lil Klinger is a 2 year old, 27 pound Jack Russell mix boy that is living in a foster home with two big foster fur brothers that don’t have anything ahead of Lil Klinger.   He can and does run with the best of them. He’s housetrained, loves car rides, happily accompanies his foster dad on his long walks and the active adventures his human dad loves to go on.  This boy, Klinger loves to explore and live life to the fullest with lots of new experiences. He embraces all the new things and enjoys playing with his toys and is ALWAYS ready for playtime.  If you are looking for a couch potatoe then Klinger would qualify only on short term moments.  He is a great and active breed that makes a wonderful family dog that you will spend time with and actively seek the exercise time that he needs.   He would be a wonderful dog for a  young family, young couple or a  young single person that is a runner, an explorer and a dog owner that might even want to do some agility activities together.  Of course Klinger is neutered , UTD on all vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm prevention with a clear fecal and wormings done. we admit we are partial when it comes to Lil Klinger and he is one of the cuter and definitely the nicest small dog you could find or consider to add in your life. Don’t let this one get away!  If you are interested please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and let’s start this ball rolling for his new forever committed home and family. Story
Meet Homer, the spunky senior dog with a heart of gold. Homer found his way to New Leash on Life from animal control, but his past is just a footnote in his story. Born around March 2014, this 30-pound bundle of joy is believed to be part Jack Russell Terrier, though his exact lineage remains a mystery. His white and brown coat, adorned with speckles on his floppy ears, adds to his irresistible charm.Homer's love for people knows no bounds, and he thrives in the company of both humans and fellow canines. Play groups are his playground, where his energetic spirit shines. But it's on walks that Homer truly comes alive, relishing with enthusiasm every step and the time he spends with his person. Homer is definitely a favorite with both staff and volunteers!Despite his senior status, Homer bonds quickly and deeply with those around him, making him a perfect addition to any loving family. Neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccines, as well as flea, tick, and heartworm protection, Homer is ready to embark on his next adventure. Could your home be his forever haven where he can enjoy his golden years? His adoption fee is $85, a small price to pay for a lifetime of unconditional love and companionship. **All New Leash on Life dogs must be adopted to families willing to have their pets be allowed inside - especially at night. No dog is allowed to be put on a "tie out" or chain outside and should be walked on a leash when not in a fenced in yard. ** (Pet ID D24-029)
