Story
Oh Iris!!!!!! She is the perfect example of “Girls just want to have fun”! She’s already spayed and vaccinated and is about 10 or 11 months old. She must have an active companion…of any breed…to play with. She gets along with all other dogs and is very sweet and friendly to people. Iris will need a fully fenced backyard. No short chain link, no wrought iron, no electronic fencing. We also want her to have an owner who is home at least part of the time. This girl needs attention and training. She’s still very young and doesn’t always mind her manners. If you are interested in this little doll, please go to www.RussellRescue.com and fill out the online adoption application. Her adoption fee is $325. Her new owner will need to drive to the Seguin/San Antonio, Texas area to get her. Contact: jamesejolley@gmail.com

Story
Penny is about 1 year-old and has just gotten all of her vet work done. At this age, she loves everyone, but we will not adopt her out to anyone with another female dog. She needs a male companion to play with. She doesn’t care what breed her new brother will be as long as he will play with her. She’s not going to do well with an elderly male. This girl is ready to rumble so her new brother must be fairly young and playful. Penny requires a home with no kids and no cats. Penny is also an escape artist. She is an extremely athletic dog. She can jump high and she is very nimble. She can go under or through the fence. If there is even the tiniest break! Whoever adopts her will have to have an extremely secure fence. No short chainlink, no electronic fencing and no wrought iron. A home visit will be done before placement. We also want her new owner to be able to be home most of the day. She needs attention and training. Penny requires an active owner. She needs someone who will play with her, throw the ball, play tug-of-war, and always go outside in the yard with her. Her adoption fee is $325. If you are interested in adopting her please fill out the online adoption application at www.RussellRescue.com Her adopter will need to drive to the San Antonio/Seguin, Texas area to get her. Story
Meet Shellie! Shellie is a lively and lovable 2-year-old Jack Russell Terrier weighing in at a perfect 12 pounds. With her adorable big ears and energetic personality, she’s sure to capture your heart! Shellie’s journey started in a dangerous place—waddling across a busy four-lane highway while very pregnant. Thankfully, a compassionate young woman risked her own safety to scoop her up and bring her to safety. Unsure how to care for a soon-to-be mom on her apartment balcony, she surrendered Shellie to Poquita Paws Rescue. Just six days later, Shellie gave birth to five puppies despite being thin and in poor health. Four strong boys survived, and she was the most devoted and protective mama! Once her pups were transferred to another rescue at 10 weeks old, she was finally able to relax and show her true sweet and playful nature. Shellie is a dedicated squirrel and toad chaser—she’ll stare up a tree or along the fence line until she’s called back inside or reminded it’s mealtime. She loves hanging out with her furry friends, piling up on the couch for siesta time before gearing up for another round of wrestling, toy stealing, ear pulling, and yard races! She has truly blossomed into a loving and affectionate companion. She adores pets, snuggles, and being close to her person. She eats and sleeps in her kennel, and while she’s housebroken, she may need a little extra reassurance during noisy storms. Leash walking is a work in progress, but she’s eager to learn!  Food lovers, beware!  Shellie is agile and determined when it comes to sneaking a bite of your sandwich or ice cream bowl if left unattended—she’s got some impressive skills! Shellie is spayed, microchipped, heartworm and tick negative, and fully vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $300. If you’re looking for a spirited, loving companion—or need a top-notch squirrel patrol officer—apply to meet Shellie today at poquitapawsrescue.org or submit an application. !     ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Poquita Paws does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes spay/neutered, rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventrative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport to most states across the country. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to youi  Thank you. May 16, 2025, 12:54 pm

Story
Located in San Antonio Texas Meet Gerti the Border Terrier! She is our newest addition. She was found running the streets with her Dogo Argentino pal. The family that found them spent weeks trying to find their owners with no success. Gerti was not spayed and did not have a microchip. The good new is, she is now spayed, microchipped, and has had all her vaccines! The bad news is, she is heartworm positive. All though we are all very bummed about this she has a fabulous veterinarian that is taking care of her! She has started Gerti on her heartworm treatment protocol and says there is no reason why she can’t find a new home while she is undergoing treatment! Now we just need to find her that perfect place to call home! If you are interested in Gerti let us know.
