Story
Meet Spirit 💛 Hi there… my name is Spirit, but if you ask nicely, you can call me Pretty Girl or Lady Dog. I’m a sweet 12–13 year old lady with a gentle soul. These days, my favorite hobby is napping — I’ve truly perfected the art. A cozy bed, a soft blanket, and the peaceful presence of my people? That’s my idea of a perfect afternoon. Every now and then I’ll surprise you by taking interest in an occasional cat toy… just to keep things interesting. Because I have some arthritis in my shoulders and hips, I prefer short, slow walks. I like to take my time and enjoy the little things. I also have limited sight and hearing, and I don’t have any teeth left. I can be a little unsure about shadows and windy days — they’re mysterious and a bit spooky to a lady with my limited vision. But with reassurance and a calm environment, I feel safe and content. My very best friends are my foster mom and dad. They give me delicious wet food and lots of love, which I think is a very fair trade for my devotion and sweet company. I’m good with cats and other dogs, and while it’s not known how I feel about kids, I’m such a calm and gentle girl that a quiet home would suit me best. If you’re looking for a low-key, loving companion who will happily snooze by your side and warm your heart every single day, I might just be your girl. Love, Spirit 🐾

He loves being around people, enjoys interaction, and carries himself with the confident, entertaining energy Terrier lovers know and adore. He has matured beautifully into a lively companion who still enjoys playtime and activity while also loving affection and companionship from his humans. Penguin thrives when he feels included and part of the action. As a Jack Russell Terrier / Rat Terrier mix, Penguin may show traits such as intelligence, curiosity, alertness, and playful energy. Both breeds are known for being highly engaging, clever little dogs who enjoy staying mentally and physically active. Penguin would thrive in a home that can provide: Daily walks and playtime Mental stimulation and engagement Structure and consistency Companionship and inclusion as part of the family He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a social, entertaining, and affectionate dog with lots of personality. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Penguin will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Continued socialization and engagement Mental stimulation and routine Patience during adjustment periods Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Penguin will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and engagement Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping him live a healthy and happy life. Penguin is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
Slinky, at five years old, came to us when we were alerted he was in a high kill shelter on the euthanasia list. This adorable little guy loves to snuggle. He takes treats gently, knows how to sit, and he walks really nice on a lead. He gets along really well with all of the other dogs in his foster home and he loves to be a lap dog.
