Story
Hi, I’m Mona—and yes, I’ve been told I have a smile that could rival the famous painting. But unlike my namesake, there’s nothing mysterious about me: I’m an open book of love, loyalty, and a little bit of mischief. At just 2 years old, I’m a Jack Russell Terrier mix with a heart that beats for my people. I’m what they call a “Velcro dog”—where you go, I go. Whether it’s a walk around the block (which I love!) or just lounging nearby, I’m happiest when I’m close. I weigh in at a sturdy 34 pounds, and I’m spayed, vaccinated, and ready to find my forever home. I do best with older kids who understand that I like my space respected sometimes. Other dogs? Not really my scene—unless they’re calm, older, and don’t mind my independent streak. I’ve got a playful side too, and every now and then I’ll sneak off with one of the kids’ toys (oops!). So having some chew toys of my own is a must—I promise I’ll put them to good use. I’m currently in Charlotte, NC but don’t let distance stop you. For the right home, I can be transported—just keep in mind there may be a transport fee if volunteer transport cannot be found. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a charming grin and a heart full of devotion, I might just be your Mona. Let’s make some magic together.

Meet Maxwell 🐾 Maxwell is a 1-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix who came to us from a local shelter and has done wonderfully since settling into foster care. He’s been a very good boy—sweet, adaptable, and eager to be part of a family. Maxwell gets along great with other dogs and is good with kids, making him a fantastic match for a wide variety of homes. Whether he’s joining an active household or a more laid-back one, he’s the kind of dog who fits right in and is happy just being included. Friendly, well-rounded, and ready for his next chapter, Maxwell is looking for a forever home where he can continue to thrive. 🐶 An all-around great pup ready for a fresh start.

They had an wonderful human whos life was taken by a family member. We don't know what Casey and Rango experienced but we saw the heartbreak in their sad eyes. Thankfully a lovely woman who was friends with their human immediately went and picked them up. Within a few weeks they started to perk back up almost knowing they would be cared for and loved again. Rango is not bonded to Casey but they have lived together so many years, we are praying they can be adopted together. Rango has a history of seizures. The seizures are not severe or often enough to be on medication. He remains mobile, stable, and does not loose bowel movements during these episodes. We are continuing to monitor and if meds are needed , even after adoption, CCRT will get these meds started at our cost. Rango loves cuddling beside his human and napping. He is gentle and friendly and will make a great family member to almost any household

Story
Hi, my name is Sandy.  Some call me Super Sandy because I am such a great girl.  Others call me Sheriff Sandy, as I have made it my job to patrol the yard when I hear a noise.  We have a nice fenced-in yard with lots of room to run and a doggie door in the back door.  That makes it very easy for me to do my self-appointed job.     Only a few weeks ago, I was a homeless girl abandoned in a neighborhood behind a veterinary clinic.  This nice lady took me to the vet.  They agreed to help me and let me stay there.  After my photo session for my online post, the staff called Critter Cavalry.  Now I am the lucky one enjoying life in a wonderful foster home.  It is amazing how quickly things can change. When I am not on patrol, I enjoy time with my foster brothers and sisters.  We have lots of room to play outside and room inside to relax.  I am fitting right in.  Not long after I arrived, my foster mom came home with a little scruffy boy who was also abandoned.  We shared our stories and became fast friends.  He has been adopted.  Now it is my turn.   I would love an active family that spends time outdoors.  It would also be great if they had children and another dog for me to play with.  Since I do like to patrol, a fenced-in yard is a must.  I also tend to bark when I hear noises.  Because of that, apartment life is definitely not for me.  I ride well in the car and walk ok on a leash.  I could use a refresher course in that.  I am very smart and catch on quickly.   To learn more about me and to request an application, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  I am currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  January 13, 2026, 6:14 pm

Story
After spending almost two weeks in doggie jail (Halifax County Animal Control) nobody came for her so we sprung little Erida. Now in foster care she is waiting for her vet appointment in two weeks for spay, heartworm testing, and any additional vaccinations needed. A terrier mix, Erida is about 3 years old, 12 pounds, has some of her vaccinations, is house and leash trained. She seems fine with smaller dogs, but is not a fan of larger dogs. Loving lap time, Erida will follow you around the house. At this time we do not recommend homes with children under 10. If interested in possible adoption apply at rainbowanimalrescue.org ##2411590##
