Story
Hello, my name is Ricky, I am a 2 year old Jindo mix that weighs 51 pounds (23 kg) and stand 24 inches tall.  Initially I was adopted by a Korean family, but they didn't understand how energetic a puppy was and gave me up for adoption.  They did send me for some training and now the awesome folks at WDK have me and I am available for you! My handler says I always smile and grin, that I am a dog that spreads happy vibes where ever I go.  I do tend to be startled by big voices or big gestures that indicate the possibility of my previous family not being very nice to me.  With strangers, I can be a bit shy at times, but I do warm up quickly.  If a stranger takes my lead, I do follow them.  It is suggested I not go to a home with small kids, not because I am unfriendly, but because I am a bigger dog and strong and easily excited, I can overwelm smaller children. When first meeting other dogs, if the introduction goes well I mostly get along with other dogs.  However I tend to get very excited, so my handler requests that you calm me down first before introducing a new dog to me.  After we say hi, then I am usually good to go.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTUHPh6uVBQ&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jx-DG3S8fIx5JAqAZDbxpvc&index=3.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3xBRjMXgv8&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jx-DG3S8fIx5JAqAZDbxpvc&index=6  If another dog shows aggression to me though, it is probable that I would fight back.  Cats are a no for me please, I generally feel like it is very fun to chase cats and other small animals, as my prey drive is pretty high. My energy level is high, I need lots of exercise every day.  So if you are looking for a running or hiking buddy, pick me!  While walking, I am very excited and curious about everything, I am not afraid of urban noise at all.  I do pull on my leash, so further training from you would be welcome.  Also, as I chase small animals, I should only be let off leash in a fenced area.  Otherwise I might not come back.   My handler also says I have not shown any aggression to people, I have a high appetite (which speaks well of my trainability) but no resource guarding issues.  I do not have separation anxiety, can bark sometimes if I need something like to go outside, am calm in a crate and do not get carsick. So if you are looking for an activity buddy, apply for me today! Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems!Basic training should be taken seriously and should begin within a few days after arrival. After your dog has settled in, check out courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.  HEALTH NOTES:I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. ADOPTION FEE:My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. -------------------------------------Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Story
Hi there!  My name is Suho, I am a 4 year old male Jindo mix that weighs 46 lbs (21 kg) and stands 19 inches high.  I was taken into the city pound on Dec 24 202 and rescued by the awesome people at WDK in August 2021.  At that time I was heartworm positive and received treatment and was cleared June 2022.  Now I am better, and looking for my forever home!  You can also see the skin on my nose has peeled off and never grew back, so maybe we can stay out of too much sunshine just in case of sunburn. My handler says I welcome strangers, I easily approach them and let them pet me, smiling and wagging my tail. I even enjoy being groomed.  While I love attention from people, other dogs not so much, she thinks it is because I can get jealous and want all the people attention for myself, so I need to be the only dog in the household. I have never met a cat, so it is unknown how I would respond to them. I have a moderate energy level and love all activities with people, going for a walk makes me very happy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kRnwjFj59Q&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JzeU_0iXjHSwVH80Ln6ibg9&index=5 I also sit for a treat which apparently is adorable :)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzKJ79NwrOk&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JzeU_0iXjHSwVH80Ln6ibg9&index=4 It is important to note that I have shown some aggression to other dogs (presumably from jealousy) but never towards people.  Any interaction with other dogs needs to be monitored. My appetite is moderate, with no resource guarding issues, no signs of separation anxiety, no car sickness and I rarely bark. So what do you say?  Will you be my one and only?  Apply for me today! Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Story
Hello, my name is Pado, I am a 7 year old male Jindo/Shepherd mix that weighs 68 lbs (31 kg) and stands 23 inches high.  I was rescued after being seen roaming the streets for quite a long time before being taken to the pound in Dec 2020.  WDK received me in Aug 2021 and got vet treatment for me as I was heartworm positive (cleared Aug 12, 2022) and Anaplasma positive.  I also have severe dental abrasions with the pulp on many teeth exposed.  (Pics available) My handler says I am not shy at all.  I actively approach strangers and love it when they give me scratches which I show by wagging my tail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQxGmSK92M4&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jwf152aYQAC3PD8axBxAo89&index=2  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajTzqWt2reY&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jwf152aYQAC3PD8axBxAo89&index=3 (I don't like my paws touched though)  I even allowed a little boy to pet me the first time meeting him.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEayl79L5uY&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jwf152aYQAC3PD8axBxAo89&index=4 Once I get to know someone, I show them my belly in hopes of a belly rub. I am much more interested in humans than other dogs.  When meeting a new dog I just mind my business.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z24osbiZ_I8&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jwf152aYQAC3PD8axBxAo89&index=6.  I do show some curiosity when meeting stray cats, but follow directions to go in different directions.  My energy level is moderate.  At the beginning of walks I seem very excited, but after 5 mins I am much calmer, and get tired easily.  I will need some more training to not pull on my leash, and love sniffy walks.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWAWbMR7IKg&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jwf152aYQAC3PD8axBxAo89&index=9.  My handler says I learn things quickly and with some training I will make a very well mannered dog.  I have not shown any aggression other than the occasional growl (usually if other dogs are barking beside me), have no resource guarding issues towards people.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ-WEV3W8IA&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jwf152aYQAC3PD8axBxAo89&index=7   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVfImFbjUPA&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jwf152aYQAC3PD8axBxAo89&index=8I can growl if other dogs approach when I am eating.   There have been no signs of separation anxiety, only bark when I want something (like your attention), am crate trained and do not get car sick. So what do you say?  Want a super friendly people pup that will love you and be friendly to everyone we meet?  Apply for me today!  PS I really am a lovely boy.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPBLEHERjp8&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jwf152aYQAC3PD8axBxAo89&index=11  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9qxj2JpCR4&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jwf152aYQAC3PD8axBxAo89&index=5 Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Story
Hi there!  I am Omok, a 1 year and 11 month old male Jindo mix that weighs 15 kg (34 lbs) and stands 22 inches high.  I was one of 13 dogs rescued from a slaughter house in South Korea.  Despite this horrendous experience, I still believe people can be friends. My handler says I am very friendly towards humans.  Sometimes I can be shy, but warm up really quickly and really really love treats.  If a stranger is holding treats, I jump for the treats and wag my tail constantly.  She says I eat treats very gently from hands and allow strangers to pet me. Other dogs are awesome, I actively approach new dogs to say hi.  Some dogs can get irritated by my activeness however.  When I hit it off with another dog, I do a play bow and want to play with them.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erm4gfy14hQ&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JygSYYf0huM_mI57feqQbZa&index=2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGMTFUnFuvM&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JygSYYf0huM_mI57feqQbZa&index=3.  When I saw a cat, I tried to avoid  the cat, almost like I was afraid of it.  Even seeing a fast moving cat I didn't chase it, so could probably live with cats with the proper introduction.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRX-rQpXnAA&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JygSYYf0huM_mI57feqQbZa&index=6 My energy level  is high, so a lot of exercise is great.  If you need a running buddy or hiking buddy, that is me!  I am still practicing how to walk on a leash, in a new place or when I am scared sometimes I refuse to walk, but my handlers are continuing to work  with this.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QobviL0fXk&list=PLIsLTtIpe3JygSYYf0huM_mI57feqQbZa&index=4  I do love playing with toys!  So if you could buy some of those for me that would be awesome. There has been no aggression at all displayed other than some growls if dogs approach me while eating.  There is no resource guarding with people, but if I am eating and other dogs approach then I can growl.  My appetite is very high (Which speaks very well of my trainability!)  I try to eat my meal as fast as I can so I can go steal someone else's meal :)  I can mark in a  territory that is new to me, so that needs to be monitored.  There have been no signs of separation anxiety, rarely bark (sometimes at strangers) but do have severe carsickness.  (I vomit) So what do you say?   Want a friendly exercise buddy?  Apply for me today! Story
Hi there!  My name is Danny, I am a 5 year old male Jindo mix that weighs 17 kg (37 lbs) and stands 22 inches high. I was rescued from an animal hoarder's rooftop house in Busan, Korea with 8 other dogs in 2018.  We were all suffering from a very bad and painful skin disease when we were rescued by some awesome people.  I regained my health, but so far, no one has stepped forward to make me their forever dog and I have now been waiting almost 5 years. Is my forever home with you? My handler says I open up very quickly, I am not scared of strangers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHgC7r5SjZ4&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyez7raTx-LBpiUBOvht1Rh&index=1 Rather, I snuggle and ask for pets.  (And treats!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDqdOMnEEyE&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyez7raTx-LBpiUBOvht1Rh&index=7  When I eat from your fingers I am extremely gentle. Meeting new dogs, I gently say hi and then go off to mind my own business.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuXQ2ybkUdQ&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyez7raTx-LBpiUBOvht1Rh&index=3  Even meeting little dogs is no problem.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi6E4tuLXTg&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyez7raTx-LBpiUBOvht1Rh&index=4.  Meeting a big doberman, I looked a little bit more tense, but  there was no issue.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNWCJJ_cTxE&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyez7raTx-LBpiUBOvht1Rh&index=5.  When I was briefly introduced to a cat, I was not interested in it at all.  I could probably live with a cat with proper introductions.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wMwu0lFDEI&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyez7raTx-LBpiUBOvht1Rh&index=6.  Even when I saw a cat on my walk, there was no inclination to chase it, so my prey drive is probably pretty low.   My energy level is moderate, I love to go for walks and am a confident boy.  I actively explore new places and walk tall and proud.  Urban noises and passing cars do not scare me.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF7tBT_CUUg&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyez7raTx-LBpiUBOvht1Rh&index=10.  To get me into a car, you may have to lift me in, but once you do I am very calm in the car.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoEdmn0BTDc&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyez7raTx-LBpiUBOvht1Rh&index=8.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCax8CoRwsM&list=PLIsLTtIpe3Jyez7raTx-LBpiUBOvht1Rh&index=9 I have not shown any aggression.  While my appetite is high, there has been no resource guarding towards humans.  No signs of separation anxiety, I don't get car sick, and I am crate and house trained.  I can possibly bark if someone comes to my home.  As a result of my early abuse, I have severe dental abrasion and the pulp of many teeth is exposed.  I am also missing one upper front tooth. If you are looking for a confident and cuddly boy, apply for me today!  I have been waiting to find you for so very long :) Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Greetings, my name is DREAMY. Yup, I'm creamy dreamy, as my fur is sooo fluffy soft. I'm a male Jindo mix who is 4 yrs old, weighs 40 lbs and stand 20 inches at the shoulder. I had a home in Korea but when my owners found out I had heartworm they took me to a local rescue center. They got me treatment I needed and I now have a healthy heart. But best of all I am now living in a foster home in Vancouver where I am patiently waiting for my new person to come and meet me and take me home. I am very friendly to humans, even to strangers. Snuggles are A-1 and I often ask for pets. I will even shadow people awaiting that moment for a scratch. I'll show you my belly once relaxed too. It doesn't take me long at all to make friends when I meet someone. When you try to put a leash on me, I don't step back, so it's easy to do it.  They say I often know what a person wants. I am a very smart dog. Maybe I'm a mind reader? My socialization skills with other dogs is getting better and better. When I first moved to a short-term foster home, I got along very well with three other dogs and was very gentle with smaller dogs. When I met two stray cats who were just sitting, I showed a little attention, but soon turned and resumed the walk. Boring kitties. No aggressive tendencies in this boy. Though I have a moderate energy level - a bit lower side even, I enjoy outdoor activities and likes to rest/chill at home after walks. At home, I move slow and relaxed. During walks, I will follow your lead well. Sniff things is a great pleasure for me, so sometimes I will keep my head low to continue snorting smells. I love to mark here and there during walks and will do so at first in a new place to show my space, so be sure to show me where it is ok.  Other things I like: playing with balls and chew toys. I'm a good traveler in a car too. I have no resource guarding issues. I eat slowly and enjoy every bite. I eat treats gently from hands and can share treats with other dogs. Not trying to steal them away. You'll be happy to note, I show no signs of anxiety, rarely bark, not into escaping, am crate & house trained.  I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.  My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.  While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs.  The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.  Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1666842##
