Story
WEACT visited the Wanju Animal Shelter for the second phase of rescues as part of the Save Us Project (Monthly Sponsorship), which aims to give new lives to dogs facing euthanasia. On the day of our visit, we were overwhelmed with shock. The shelter's exterior, barely held together by tarps, looked more like a prison than a kennel. Inside, large dogs were tethered to short leashes in cramped spaces, each struggling to survive. These dogs had been living for years on just a 50cm-long leash. While they were able to eat and drink enough to survive, there was no sign of a life worth living for these animals. WEACT rescued five dogs suffering in the cold winter, including #weact_bbibbi, from the Wanju Shelter.

Story
WEACT received a tip in March of 2021 that there were dogs dying at #HwaseongPaltanDogFarm. Upon seeing the stiff bodies of the dogs in the photos, we immediately headed to Hwaseong. The site was even more terrifying in person. There were 12 neglected dogs either trapped in small cages or tied up on short leashes with only food waste in a bowl. Without proper shelter, they had to endure extreme weather conditions and fear for their lives. Thanks to the help from our volunteers and RE:BIRTH, we were able to rescue all 12 dogs as well as three stray dogs nearby. #weact_rinda was finally able to escape from the cold, dark place and finally get to know the beautiful world waiting for her.

Story
WEACT received a video report in June 2021, which clearly showed a blatant violation of animal protection laws: a person hanging a live dog and brutally murdering it by setting it on fire with a torch. We arrived at the scene early the next day, but the dog in the video had already been slaughtered. The remaining dogs on the scene were trapped in cages, forced to watch in horror as their friend met a tragic death in a blazing cauldron after cruel torture. WEACT rescued the nine surviving dogs who had lived in fear, reported the perpetrator for violating animal protection laws, resulting in a fine, and secured a commitment from the local government office to dismantle the illegal facility that operated as a slaughterhouse. One of the survivors, #weact_lady, was rescued from the living hell of the #EumseongSlaughterHouse.

Story
In March 2025, WEACT headed to Sancheong, Gyeongnam, in the early dawn after hearing that a wildfire was spreading rapidly. With a car trunk full of bottled water, pet food, and rescue equipment, they set out without hesitation. From that day, the flames fiercely spread across Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, Andong, and Yeongdeok. As the fire raged, some animals managed to run for their lives, but those still tied up and unable to escape were trapped in the blazing heat, unable to take even a single step. Even the ones that did flee suffered severe burns and collapsed after enduring the unbearable heat that felt like it could melt everything. The #GyeongbukWildfireRescueDogs barely escaped death by a few steps but were left with excruciating pain. And it was there that we met WEACT Rocket.

Story
n December 2019, the #SiheungDogFarm entered the spotlight as the story of Yumi emerged—a dog that miraculously escaped with extensive burns covering its entire body. Another animal welfare organization initially launched a rescue operation, but on Christmas Day, the owner transferred all the animals to a different dog farm. Although their whereabouts remained elusive, persistent efforts eventually convinced the farm owner to surrender them. However, the time spent in slaughterhouses had inflicted profound trauma on these dogs. Taking charge of the situation, WEACT and volunteers provided ceaseless day and night care, leading to the successful rescue of 65 animals from the #SiheungDogFarm. Due to their profound trauma and injuries inflicted by humans, it necessitated an extended period of time and heightened effort to rehabilitate them. Even four years down the line, WEACT remains steadfast in its mission to facilitate the adoption of dogs from #SiheungDogFarm. #weact_betty was one of the rescues from this very location.

Story
In March 2021, WEACT received a distressing report about dogs dying at #HwaseongPaltanDogFarm. Following an emergency meeting, we immediately initiated an urgent rescue mission to Hwaseong. Twelve dogs were confined in cramped cages or tethered with short leashes, lacking access to food or clean water. Instead, they were forced to subsist on a bowl filled with rotten scraps. During the day, these dogs had to endure the cold, with their entire bodies soaked from rain and snow. At night, in pitch-black darkness where they couldn't see a step ahead, they had to fend for themselves, without anyone to rely on. With the assistance of RE:BIRTH and volunteers from across the country, WEACT successfully rescued all twelve dogs, along with three strays. Emerging from a harsh and frigid environment, #weact_Al is now experiencing a warm world for the first time.
