Born into a crowded shelter housing over 1,600 dogs, he spent four long years waiting patiently for a chance at a better life. In early 2024, that chance finally came. Youngsil was rescued and brought to Canada where he has been living with a loving foster family ever since. About Youngsil Youngsil is brave, resilient, and determined to learn—even when he’s scared. And he’s such a fast learner! We’ve seen and trained a lot of dogs, and Youngsil is one of the smartest. But Youngsil wasn’t always the happy, easy-going dog he is now. After all, he lived in a dog prison for the first four years of his life. He didn’t know how to be a “normal dog.” When he first arrived, everything frightened him: being touched, getting a harness on, baths, being brushed, being left alone—even simple affection. Despite being potty-trained, he would have accidents when overwhelmed with anxiety. But with patience and love, he’s made incredible progress. His Amazing Progress Harness Time: Youngsil used to panic at the sight of a harness. Now? He comes over, sits, and patiently waits for it—because he knows it means walk time, which he loves. Bath Time: He once scrambled to escape the shower. Now, while still a bit nervous, he sits and accepts the water. We’re sure he’ll grow to enjoy bath time soon! Anxiety: The anxious poops? Gone. That alone tells us how much calmer and more secure he feels. Sleeping Routine: Recently, his foster mom began having him sleep in a fenced area. At first, he was so anxious that she had to sleep on the couch beside him. But within five days, Youngsil started going in on his own and sleeping through the night. Amazing! Training & Personality Youngsil has been attending group training sessions and has already learned sit, down, touch, and stay. He still has a bit more work to do, but the foundation is there, and his potential is obvious. He’s a joyful, happy boy who loves running in the backyard and learning new things. He greets his foster family when they come home. He loves when you scratch his neck. And even when he’s unsure, you can see him try. He really has a heart of gold. With the right home—one that’s patient, gentle, and willing to continue guiding him—Youngsil will thrive. He’s got a lot of love to give. Could You Be His Person? Youngsil has come so far, and he’s ready to continue his journey with a forever family. He’s not just looking for a home, he’s looking for someone who will give him the love, patience, and joy he never had. If you think you could give this brave boy the happy doggy life he deserves, we’d love to hear from you. Story
Relationship with Adults She is shy around strangers at first, but after a little time, she starts to approach them and even rolls over to show her belly, allowing people to pet her. Relationship with Kids She is also cautious with children at first, but quickly warms up and approaches them, showing her belly and asking for affection. Relationship with Other Dogs She is very interested in other dogs and enjoys playing and being close to them. However, during mealtime or treat time, she tends to wait for the other dog to finish eating and then tries to eat the leftovers instead of eating her own. She eats well when fed alone in a separate space. Relationship with Cats She is curious about cats and likes to be near them but does not chase or approach them inappropriately. House Training (Indoor/Outdoor) She uses pee pads indoors with about 90% accuracy and goes perfectly on the artificial grass on the terrace. She is still learning to go potty outdoors. Energy Level Moderate. As a puppy, she likes to chew and play, but she also spends a lot of time sleeping and is not overly energetic. Separation Anxiety / Barking She does not have separation anxiety. Sometimes she barks briefly when she sees strangers outside the window, but it doesn’t last long and she shows no signs of aggression. Touch and Handling She quickly becomes comfortable and loves being petted and handled by people. Walks on the Leash She is still getting used to walks as she is scared of the outside environment. However, if there’s another dog walking with her, she gains some confidence and starts sniffing around. She tends to hide when she sees people. Escape Tendencies She stays close to her guardian or the dog she is walking with. Occasionally, she tries to run toward home when strangers pass by, but she is small and easy to control. Aggression None. Even when other dogs play roughly, she tends to lie on her back or take a submissive position, showing her gentle nature. Rescue Story She is the eldest of three sisters born to a mother dog who was brought to a shelter. Right after weaning, a shelter worker took her home to save her from euthanasia. She was later rescued along with her mother.
