MY RESCUE STORY
I was rescued from a city pound right after being placed on the euthanasia list. I had arrived there with my nine newborn puppies, doing my best to protect them despite the scary, crowded environment. Thankfully, we were saved just in time, and now I’m hoping for a forever family who will give me the love and safety I’ve been waiting for.
MY HEALTH
Spayed & healthy with no known health issues
All vaccinations up-to-date
Heartworm negative
MY PERSONALITY
I’m a super sweet and gentle girl. Even during hospital visits for my vaccinations and heartworm treatment, I stayed calm and let the medical staff handle me with no trouble. I can be a little shy at first and need a bit of time to feel safe in a new environment, but underneath that shyness, I’m incredibly friendly and affectionate. Once I warm up, I open my heart quickly—after my profile photoshoot, I was already leaning in for cuddles and soaking up all the love from volunteers and staff.
MY SOCIAL SKILLS
· With People: I’m shy at first, but I’ll gently take treats from your hand and soon allow pets once I feel safe. When I open up, I love showing my belly and you can easily pick me up—I’m super gentle and very affectionate. I even handle scary hospital visits surprisingly well. I can be an escape artist in new environments and feel anxious at the start, but once I settle in and feel comfortable, I stop trying to run away and relax into the sweet, loving girl I truly am.
· With Dogs: I like greeting new dogs, though I don’t jump into play right away. I generally get along best with dogs around my size. I have a big appetite, and I can resource guard my food if another dog is nearby while I’m eating, so separate feeding is important for safe management. I can take treats around other dogs, but I get a bit anxious and try to eat them very quickly. With training, patience, and guidance, I’ll learn to slow down and feel more relaxed when food is involved.
· With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown. A cat test can be arranged upon request to ensure the best fit!
ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY
I have a moderate energy level—I enjoy my outdoor time, but afterward I’m more than happy to snuggle up and relax indoors.
TRAINING & HABITS
I walk well on leash and follow my handler’s lead nicely. I don’t guard my food from people, but I can be sensitive when other dogs are around food, so I’ll need continued guidance with that. I may bark at strangers, and I know how to get on and off the car by myself.
For my safety, I must always be double-leashed to both a harness and collar with a GPS tracker when outside. In a new environment, I can get very scared and may try to escape, so I need extra watchful eyes and a very secure setup at first. Once I feel safe, I don’t try to run. With patience, confidence-building, and the support of my forever family, I’ll continue to blossom into a brave, loving young lady.
MY IDEAL HOME
I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with:
A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself, and a stable environment.
A family that understands my rough past and is patient with me throughout and continue to provide me with basic training and socialization.
A family that enjoys outdoor & indoor time together.
A family that will love and cherish me forever.
A family understanding my love for food and willing to guide me with patience and training so I learn to become more patient with my food when other dogs are around.
SPECIAL NOTES
I’m considered a level 3 rescue dog, which means I’ll need at least a week to feel settled in my new environment. I’m very sensitive to new changes and will need support to feel secure and safe as I adjust. I’m currently working on socialization and basic training to help me build confidence. For my safety, I must be double-leashed and wear a GPS tracker (e.g. Tractive or Fi) while I’m adjusting with my new family. I have so much potential, and once I open up, I’ll become your loyal shadow and show you the sweetest, most loving side of me.
