Story
BONDED PAIR: Tinlee MUST be adopted with her sister, Emma. Meet Tinlee! This 4-year-old cream-colored Labradoodle weighs 80 lbs. Tinlee is a playful and happy-go-lucky pooch who always manages to find fun wherever she goes! General Behavior: Tinlee is a very goofy girl who can often be found trotting around her home in pure glee, waiting for her full-body rubs and snuggles. She thrives on attention, cuddles, and spending time with her sister, Emma. Likes & Dislikes: Terrific Tinlee enjoys living in the moment, especially if it means playing with her toys. She’s known for encouraging her sister and her humans to join in on the fun, and with a face as cute as hers, how can you resist?! Training: These adorable gals have good basic manners and do well with their housetraining when let out frequently. They are both quite strong and are working on their leash-walking skills. Tinlee is a bit more on the silly side, but she makes up for it in enthusiasm and aims to please. Medical: Both Emma and Tinlee are healthy pups who just require their monthly heartworm and flea preventative. Other Animals: Tinlee enjoys the company of other dogs, although she prefers to hang out with her sister. Both girls do well with cats. Children: A home with children would be a great fit for these gentle and darling pups! Home: A single-family home or dog-friendly apartment living would make for a perfect fit for Emma and Tinlee, although they are large pups and will require a sizeable home with a family that can provide them with the activity and playtime that they love. Grooming: As Poodle-blends, Emma and Tinlee will require regular brushing and a trip to the groomer every so often for a trim. Their family can expect to pay approximately $85+ per pup for grooming and should be aware of this recurring expense. Overall: Emma & Tinlee are a very lovable duo that is sure to steal your heart as soon as you meet them! Can you provide an active home for this sweet duo? Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with their foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. They are up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed, and heartworm negative. Their adoption donation is $750 ##2037744##

Piper is just the sweetest girl ever! She loves her little brother, Rudy, soooo much! Unfortunately, their momma is in declining health and is unable to care for them anymore. Please consider adopting both of these doodles together. Piper is very calm and relaxed and has a "go with the flow" attitude. She would be a wonderful companion to a single person, or a family!

Story
**MUST READ WHOLE DESCRIPTION**   Duke is around 2 1/2 years old and is a Potcake from Abacos in the Bahamas.  He came to us just over a year ago with a condition that causes cysts to form, which puppies outgrow once they mature. Due to this condition he was on heavy steroids and pain medication which has altered his perception of some things, leading to behaviors which make him tough to place.   Duke is definitely a happy boy in his mind, extremely playful, will play fetch all day long, he loves walks, loves his toys and bones and loves having a set routine.  He does however have his downsides that make him tough to place due to the medication effecting him mentally. Oh and if you have a kiddie pool he will be all over it!   Duke needs a home without other dogs because he can get possessive over his "babies" (stuffed animals) and he does not read dogs intentions correctly and vice versa so things can escalate quickly. He also needs a home without kids, as well as one that is pretty routine without a lot of visitors.  He does not have a problem with cats here and some dogs he is okay with, but he has certain behaviors that cause a lot of dogs to end up in fights with him. A fenced in yard is also a must for this guy and an adopter who will listen to our instructions with Duke on what his triggers are, who will be confident when he shows signs of barrier aggression for example and is calm enough to not escalate the situation by yelling or wanting to grab Duke. Duke does mean well and he is an amazing dog, but his aggressive behaviors do not typically match whats going on mentally so he is a challenge. Someone who understands redirection, how your body language is effecting the dog and who is patient is key.   He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, on heartworm prevention, flea prevention, dewormed and healthy minus his "predictably unpredictable" behaviors.   If you think you are the right fit for Duke please email us at islanddogrescue@yahoo.com and tell us why. We get a ton of people who are interested who do not fit his needs, so please do not forget to include this information or we will not respond.  September 14, 2023, 12:20 am
