I'm looking to find a great second and hopefully final home for two very sweet labradoodle litter mate sisters, whose names are Biscuit (tan/white) and Penny (black). Ideally, the adoption will include both dogs, which I know is a big commitment, but I can't stand the idea of separating them now after they've grown up their whole lives together. I originally acquired Biscuit and Penny in April of 2019, under very different life circumstances. They have been cared for at the Rock Island Animal Hospital since that time, and they are both spayed and current on all vaccines, preventives, etc. They have excellent temperaments around people and other dogs. As it stands today, I'm in a different chapter of my life, and I have to be away from home and travel quite a bit for work, so Biscuit and Penny are home alone or need to be boarded. These two dogs have a lot of love and life yet to give to a new owner or family. I'm not in any hurry to re-home, but it is something I would like to do.

Maura is incredibly sweet, loves making new friends, and is always ready for an adventure or a game. Whether it's a walk around the neighborhood, tossing a toy in the yard, or curling up after a day of fun, she's happiest when she's spending time with her people. Maura does have a grade 4/6 heart murmur. Right now, she feels great and doesn't let it slow her down, but she will need a veterinarian who can monitor her heart over time and recommend any treatment if it becomes necessary. Many dogs with heart murmurs continue to enjoy happy, active lives with the right veterinary care. Nova is a beautiful 1-year-old Lab mix with a gentle soul and a heart that's still learning that the world can be a safe place. When you first meet Nova, she may seem shy and unsure. Her past has left her cautious around new people and situations, but beneath that timid exterior is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. Give her a little patience, a little understanding, and you'll discover a snuggly companion who loves being close to her people once she feels comfortable. Nova's foster family reports that she already has some basic training under her belt, though she'll benefit from continued guidance and positive reinforcement. Nova is looking for a patient, dog-savvy home that understands healing takes time. She needs adopters who will celebrate the small victories, help her build confidence, and show her the love she may have missed out on before. Nova is also currently being treated for Heartworm Disease. The good news is that she already has a treatment plan in place, and our team will thoroughly review everything with potential adopters. During treatment, she'll need a calm environment and restricted activity to help her recover successfully. Additionally, Nova tested positive for Ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease that many dogs respond well to with treatment. We can discuss her specific medical plan and answer any questions you may have about her care. This sweet girl may not be the dog who rushes up to greet you on day one, but she's the kind of dog who forms a deep, lasting bond with the people who earn her trust. Watching Nova come out of her shell is incredibly rewarding, and she's ready to find someone willing to take that journey with her.
