Meet Liberty, a 9-month-old pup who traveled from Puerto Rico to Massachusetts with hope in her heart and a need for a gentle, understanding home. She can still be shy when meeting new people and the world can sometimes feel a little overwhelming for her, but since heading into foster, Liberty has already been showing us just how much she`s capable of with a little patience and encouragement!Liberty is happiest and most confident when she has other dogs by her side, and she`s been doing great with her foster brother and sister. Her foster`s dogs are very comfortable with her, and Liberty loves getting out and experiencing the world alongside them. She`s been going for lots of walks, did great riding in the car, and has even been splashing around in the water at the beach with her new friends!At home, Liberty has been settling in nicely too. She`s great in her crate and settles quietly both when her foster leaves the house and overnight. She`s eating well, taking treats, accepting pets, and after a couple of understandable accidents when she first arrived, she`s been doing her business outside. Her foster has been giving her plenty of space to decompress while also giving her a little nudge when she needs some help being brave, and Liberty is making progress every day.Liberty will still need a patient family who understands that gaining confidence takes time and won`t pressure her before she`s ready. Because of her sensitive nature, she would do best in a quieter home without young children. Another friendly, confident dog would be a wonderful companion for Liberty and can help her continue learning that the world isn`t such a scary place. With patience, stability, and some good canine friends by her side, we think this nervous girl has so much potential! Meet Mancha, a 5 month old pup who traveled all the way from Puerto Rico with her four siblings in search of her forever home!Mancha is considered special needs due to an injury she experienced before coming to us that caused some degree of paralysis. Thankfully, this resilient little girl has made an amazing recovery and is now able to walk, run, play, and enjoy life just like any other puppy! She does still have a bit of a funny gait in her back legs, but her current condition is not painful and certainly doesn`t slow her down. Her bathroom habits are affected however, and while Mancha is able to hold her urine, she doesn`t always realize when she is going number 2. Becoming fully potty trained may be difficult and this is something her future family should be prepared to potentially manage long-term.But don`t tell Mancha she`s any different! She loves other dogs and has been fostered with canine friends who she loves running around and playing with. Her current foster even recently took her paddleboarding, and Mancha was happy to join in on the adventure!Mancha has also made some special friends around town! Her foster is friends with the Gloucester Fire Department, and after getting to know this sweet girl, some of the firefighters fell in love with her too. They generously donated $150 toward reducing Mancha`s adoption fee to help her find her forever family!Mancha`s special needs aren`t stopping her from living a happy, active puppy life.
