Meet Derek! At four and a half months old and just over 20 pounds, this curious pup is ready to discover the world with you. Derek arrived at BENCHS alongside his brother, and now he’s looking for an active home where he can continue to learn, play, and explore. He is incredibly inquisitive and loves engaging with people, always eager to see what you’re up to and be part of it. Toys are a big hit for him, and he’s at that fun stage where everything is an adventure. Derek is currently working on potty training and will need a home that can continue to guide him with consistency and patience as he polishes those skills. He would likely do well either as the only dog or with another social, friendly dog who can help show him the ropes. We are unsure how he would do with cats, though he has shown some interest. If you’re looking for a playful, people-loving puppy to grow alongside, Derek might just be your perfect match.

Lulu is a 3 year old sweetheart who is getting her very first chance to discover what it means to simply be a dog. She came to BENCHS after being released from a breeder alongside her friend, Fiona. Based on the urine staining on her feet and underbelly when she arrived, it is believed she spent much of her life in a kennel. Because of that, so many everyday things are brand new to her. Toys don’t make much sense yet, treats are still a mystery, and she likely has had very little potty training, so her future family should expect to patiently teach her the basics of living in a home. Lulu is a shy little girl who takes time to trust new people, and she would do best in a quiet, low traffic home where she can settle in at her own pace. But if you are willing to let her move at her own speed, you’ll discover the sweetest companion. Once she feels safe, she absolutely melts into affection and loves being gently petted. Lulu is looking for a patient, understanding family who will celebrate every little milestone with her. Watching a dog discover comfort, love, and confidence for the first time is something truly special, and Lulu is ready for that journey. If you have room in your heart for a gentle soul who is learning that the world can be kind, Lulu just might be the perfect match for you. She has waited long enough. I don’t hesitate to explore as I am very curious about new things. I’ve been doing a better job of going potty outside instead of inside then when i first came to live with my foster family. I’m slowly learning to use a bell to alert my family about having to go outside. I love being outside and love chewing on sticks just as much as I love cuddling on the couch. I love to flop down on your lap and will melt into your arms when I get pets and kisses. I love chasing the cat in our house, because I always think he’s trying to play.
