Story
Name:SadieDOB: 11/8/23Breed: GoldendoodleSex: FemaleWeight: 43 poundsLocation: Buffalo  Medical needs apply: please read the full bio to ensure you can provide the specific support Sadie requires  Sadie has a rare neuromuscular condition called paroxysmal dyskinesia.  Paroxysmal dyskinesia (PD) is a type of episodic movement disorder that is often mistaken for seizure activity. The cause isn't entirely understood, however it is usually genetic or associated with a dietary sensitivity to gluten. During Sadie's episodes she will become rigid, fall to her side, and appear to have stiffness of her muscles. Her episodes are usually short in duration, lasting less than five minutes, and after recovery Sadie is completely normal. Human patients with PD report that episodes are often nonpainful or associated with a mild to moderate cramping sensation; Sadie appears to experience only mild discomfort during her episodes. These episodes are not dangerous, however Sadie is unable to control when these episodes occur. We have improved the frequency of her episodes by switching Sadie to a gluten-free diet and administering phenobarbital twice daily. This condition is usually nonprogressive and has an excellent prognosis provided episodes are mild, infrequent, and self limiting.- Dr. Karson, Green Acres Neurologist Sadie made her way from Kentucky to Buffalo and is looking for her forever home. She can be shy at first, especially with other dogs. Eventually she warms up and wants to be your best friend. She is a sweet and gentle lady. Not sure if she’s good with cats, should be fine with kids and okay with other dogs after a bit of time! She is potty trained and crate trained. She will need some guidance on leash walking but does okay. She’s a little love bug looking for her forever home.  If you are interested in adopting Sadie, please apply at https://www.716paws.org/adopt or message the rescue if you are already pre-approved. ##2585391##

Story
❤️ Drax ❤️ ❤️ 02/28/26 ADOPTION PENDING ❤️ This handsome middle-aged doggy was another stray that was found on Podunk Rd near the Genesee County line at the beginning of January. He was never claimed and is now looking for a home of his own where he can share love with a new family. Drax loves back massages and toys...and more toys and of course treats!! Speaking of treats, he will sit and stare at you with his puppy-dog eyes and you just must then give him a treat!!! Drax is a little tentative with strangers when he first meets them, but warms up quickly with a little time. Drax is also positive for Lyme disease. He had a positive titer and he is on antibiotics for thirty days, but that does not deter him from playing, jumping, running or just being a loveable, energetic doggie. He will need follow-up blood work in the future, but that can be discussed with an adopter's vet. He is also being treated for a skin infection. If you may be interested in adding Drax to your family, here is a link to our application that you can print out, complete and email (ocadoptions@aol.com) or text (585-752-2588) back to us as a jpg. https://34700641-153071652496766543.preview.editmysite.com/uploads/3/4/7/0/34700641/int_app_new.pdf Send us a text or message if you have any questions.

Story
Walter's Story Senior Spotlight! Let us introduce you to Walter! Walter was found at Byrne Dairy in Rochester after being dumped there. He had no identification and he was not claimed after being picked up by Animal Control. One of our volunteers was made aware of Walter and asked if we could help! Walter is now being fostered at our volunteer Haley’s home and she describes him as “the whole package”! We estimate his age at 7-8 years old. He’s a perfect older gentleman! Potty trained, crate trained(mostly), does well with other dogs! (We don’t have a cat to test him with) He is a wonderful snuggle bug! He does great riding in the car and he’s got that typical “bull in a china shop” exuberance that labs and lab mixes are famous for! * Please note: All dogs are rescues so we often do not know the actual breeds but use an educated guess to tell you what they most look like. All dogs and puppies have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, 4DX tested(if age appropriate), put on heartworm/flea/tick prevention, age appropriately vaccinated, dewormed, vet checked. For more information on adopting please email madrescueofwny@aol.com and fill out our online application at https://form.jotform.us/70927213338153
