Meet Scratchy — The Sweet, Soft-Spoken Island Girl Scratchy had a rough start to life. She was abandoned as a tiny puppy in Jamaica until a kind local man scooped her up and brought her to Negril Pup Rescue, where she finally found safety, food, and people who adored her. After Hurricane Melissa damaged ther rescue home, Scratchy bravely joined the relief flight to the Northeast to find her home. At 41 pounds and around 4 years old, Scratchy is healthy, vaccinated, fixed, and officially ready for good things only from here on out. Scratchy LOVES people — in that soft, gentle, “I would like to sit beside you quietly and admire your existence” kind of way. She can be shy at first, but not for long.. and once she trusts you, she gives the sweetest, most grateful affection. She's great with cats (they appreciate her polite energy), and she is wonderful with other dogs! Scratchy is the definition of a gentle soul. She’s survived abandonment, hurricanes, and the chaos of rescue life… and now she’s so ready for a loving family who can give her the calm, kindness, and stability she’s been waiting for. Sara is a 1-year-old, 28-pound black Lab mix with a gentle spirit and a heart full of sweetness. Her story began on June 23, when a resident reported a small dog hiding under their car for several days with no food or water. When Animal Welfare officers arrived, they found Sara—scared, exhausted, and desperately in need of help. Despite what she endured, Sara has shown nothing but gratitude and affection. She’s a wonderfully sweet, friendly girl who loves people and warms up quickly. Her small Lab-mix frame and loving personality make her an easy companion for just about any home. Sara is ready for a fresh start, a soft bed, and a family who will cherish her the way she deserves. If you’re looking for a young, gentle, loyal dog with a resilient heart, Sara is waiting to meet you. Kayla — Bright, Playful, and Full of Joy Female | ~7 Months Old | ~35 lbs Kayla’s story began with a stroke of luck. Her mother was rescued from a school just days before giving birth, after staff contacted a rescue to get her help. She was a gentle, devoted mama who raised her puppies safely in foster care. Kayla is one of those puppies, raised with love and affection who turned out to be a sweet and funny little girl. She is some type of short haired mix, we are not really sure what kind, and she was born with a little nub tail that is always wiggling with happiness! At around 35 lbs, she’s a great medium size and still very much a puppy at heart. She loves fun, loves people, and is always ready to play.
