Story
Name:SadieDOB: 11/8/23Breed: GoldendoodleSex: FemaleWeight: 43 poundsLocation: Buffalo  Medical needs apply: please read the full bio to ensure you can provide the specific support Sadie requires  Sadie has a rare neuromuscular condition called paroxysmal dyskinesia.  Paroxysmal dyskinesia (PD) is a type of episodic movement disorder that is often mistaken for seizure activity. The cause isn't entirely understood, however it is usually genetic or associated with a dietary sensitivity to gluten. During Sadie's episodes she will become rigid, fall to her side, and appear to have stiffness of her muscles. Her episodes are usually short in duration, lasting less than five minutes, and after recovery Sadie is completely normal. Human patients with PD report that episodes are often nonpainful or associated with a mild to moderate cramping sensation; Sadie appears to experience only mild discomfort during her episodes. These episodes are not dangerous, however Sadie is unable to control when these episodes occur. We have improved the frequency of her episodes by switching Sadie to a gluten-free diet and administering phenobarbital twice daily. This condition is usually nonprogressive and has an excellent prognosis provided episodes are mild, infrequent, and self limiting.- Dr. Karson, Green Acres Neurologist Sadie made her way from Kentucky to Buffalo and is looking for her forever home. She can be shy at first, especially with other dogs. Eventually she warms up and wants to be your best friend. She is a sweet and gentle lady. Not sure if she’s good with cats, should be fine with kids and okay with other dogs after a bit of time! She is potty trained and crate trained. She will need some guidance on leash walking but does okay. She’s a little love bug looking for her forever home.  If you are interested in adopting Sadie, please apply at https://www.716paws.org/adopt or message the rescue if you are already pre-approved. ##2585391##
