Story
Dixie is an almost 2 year old ”rescue foster” that we saved from shelter surrender. Prior to her living with us, she was living in a home with a young military family that could not care for her. She is now an appropriate weight, up to date on vaccines, spayed, and micro-chipped. She is house broken and crate trained, but struggles with loud noises and nervous peeing. She is a sweet girl who loves to snuggle and go on walks. She is good with kids but gets overly excited and easily wound up. She is a sock monster! :) and will chew things if left unattended. She has been exposed to other dogs but is scared and timid at the moment and seems to just run from them when they get close. I think she would thrive with a female owner who can focus on positive reinforcement training and has the time to devote to her. Thank you! Adoption Fee: $300 - includes crate, 2 dog beds, bowls, leash, etc. Adoption Fee: $200 - nothing additional included

These pups are in Newport, North Carolina too!

Story
Meet this handsome sweet guy named Baxter! He was surrendered by his owner on January 4, 2024 when they had 3 dogs and 2 were bonded and Baxter and 1 of the other dogs were not getting along. He has been super sweet and has been none reactive to other dogs in kennel beside him or when going in and out to play or enjoy the outdoors. He’s a gentle giant who is 8 years young, current on shots, house broken, neutered, and missing the comfort of a loving home and love from his human (s). Walks well on the leash and deserves a loving FOREVER home to enjoy his “golden years” soaking up all the loving and TLC. Adores every second he gets to spend time with his human friends. Cuddling is his favorite. Will make someone a great pup of given a fair chance. Maybe you’re the perfect loving person who is just right for sweet Baxter!

Story
Meet this adorable pup named Maddie! She and her brother Linus came into the shelter March 8, 2024 when their owner said that they escape and could no longer keep them. They came in scared and wanting love and affection just didn’t know how to accept it initially. Skittish with new people. They are now setting in better every day thanks to the love from the staff and volunteers. With some guidance, direction, sense of security, time, patience, and love they will thrive once in a home. I suspect they spent a lot of time alone outside so many be reason they escaped to try to find people. Maddie is a great sized girl who a big heart ready to accept love and to share her love. She came in at 1 year 3 months old and is now current on vaccinations . Maybe you have the most perfect FOREVER home for adorable Maddie?!

Story
Meet this beautiful girl named Lilo. She came into the shelter April 8, 2024 when she and the other dog in the home were no longer getting along. Lilo is a smart, funny, playful, and extremely affectionate dog who loves to give kisses to everyone she meets. She is a beautiful dog with an incredible personality who loves to make her friends and family laugh. Lilo is very friendly has a big zest for life. She is very energetic and loves going on walks and playing. She’s settling into shelter life and will up date the more we learn about Lilo. She would make a great companion for someone and is always up for an adventure, whether it's a trip to the park or just a cuddly movie night. She would do best in a home without other dogs, where she can be the center of attention and receive all the love and care she deserves. Lilo is an adult dog, at 2 years old, 60 pounds, and she’s current on her shots. Stop by for a visit with Lilo today and adopt her into your heart and home. If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance. The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home. In order to adopt any of our "bully breeds" there is special paper work that will need to be collected and approved prior to the adoption. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure to place our "bully babies" in homes best suited for them.
